Waterfront Garden Suites never come up in the hotel/motels searches for accommodations in St. Andrews. And if it does, it is buried underneath the more popular places on Water St. However, this basically IS on Water St, but street address differs because its essentially on the cross street. What a find! Only stayed here for 1 night, but got bang for the buck. Paid about $123 USD for a room that was essentially a small apartment with a knockout view from the second level balcony. What we got: queen bed, fan, waterview, balcony, living room, coffee machine, fridge, toiletries, tv, microwave, free wifi (that works), ice box outside the room. Also received a discount coupon to use at Kennedy Inn just a couple blocks down, that we used for dinner. Some things: Must check in down the street at their sister property (where you can also get free coffee and breakfast treats all day or for breakfast) and there is no AC; I believe we only had a fan; I can't remember (though I think you can pay extra for AC). It was a cool, foggy day when we arrived, but sun came out the next day (so my pix have that haze of fog). When the sun came out; St. Andrews sparkled. From the outside it looks like a basic motel, but it is definitely not your average motel. Best bang for your buck, particularly if you are not looking for swank lodgings or a historic bed and breakfast type place. There are picnic tables and adirondack chairs outside for use. Great view of the pier and bay! Totally recommended!! Hidden Gem that is totally overshadowed by the more pricier places.…
Travelled a fair distance to St Andrews when touring Eastern Canada. These garden suites made the trip worthwhile.Stayed longer than planned. They back on to Main Street with bars restaurants and face the sea looking out to Maine.Well equipped, great location and lovely seaside garden to relax in.The staff of this establishment who are situated in a nearby hotel are friendly and second to none.
Basically in the centre of town. What your room lacks in sophistication, it makes up in Down East hominess. Bed is very comfortable and the view of the harbour from your private deck or chairs on the lawn is delightful. The woman on the desk staff is sweet and charming and the cleaning staff is bumptious, fun - and helpful. If 'full' don't be afraid to ask as 3x we have found a room there.
My wife and I travel to Saint Andrews at least twice a year and have stayed at 5 different properties. This is the first time we stayed here and it won't be our last. The view from our deck was incredible and it was so nice to be downtown on Water Street with a short walk to shops, restuarants, pubs and the wharf. The unit was in great condition - a brand new bathroom with sink and 1 piece shower/tub. Small kitchen - a sink would be nice and a good living room. The property is for sale and it part of three properties in Saint Andrews - the Kennedy Inn and the St Andrews Motor Inn.
Wasn't sure what to expect from the outside but once you open that front door you will be impressed. Has a bedroom, living area, full bathroom not much counter space but not a big deal. Microwave mini fridge. If you forgot cups and wine glasses they got it. You get a flat screen, a balcony facing the ocean and one facing the Main Street, muskoka chairs to sit on the deck. As well its a sister hotel to another 2 so you get to use a pool down the street and coffee and doughnuts in the morning. A bit pricey not for low budget but so worth it. The bed is so comfortable and everything is really clean. I believe we paid $175 with tax but we did not reserve and came in around midnight. Happened to arrive a day earlier. We had booked another hotel for the next night. Which was just great as well the Kennedy inn. Call them if booking.com says sold out they will still have rooms most likely they said. That goes for any hotel booked through booking.com. And can be Cheaper if u just call the hotel straight. …
Upon arrival we were CHARGED AN EXTRA $10 FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER. Only 2 of the rooms have a/c. Check-in office is 5 blocks down the street at the Waterfront Inn. We had to ask another guest where the office was. No information given on confirmation email. Room was nice, bathroom is small. Bed was comfortable. Furniture in sitting room is outdoor furniture. Wifi is terrible, had to call for the password as no information at all in the room. Definitely not worth $170+ per night. Nice view of the wharf.
When we arrived at the hotel to check in the lady behind the counter was really frazzled but was nice enough. She gave us our key and were on our way, when we opened the door to our room the bed was stripped, pillows were all over the place, and the bathroom was not cleaned out from the previous people staying there. I called the check in counter and got the same frazzled lady and told her that the room wasn't ready yet. We were planning on walking around for a while anyway so I told her that we would be gone for a bit and come back after the room was cleaned. We came back about two or so hours later and the maid was just starting to clean. She did a good job even though it was later than promised. The room itself is ok, nothing fancy, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom is tiny and the sitting room is a good size. The furniture in the sitting room is just wicker porch furniture and is not all that comfy when watching TV. Be forewarned that there is no air conditioning. I think this was one of the hottest labor day weekends ever and it got HOT in the room. The maid told us that if you open the door on the water side of the room you will get a great breeze and it will stay cooled off. There was no breeze for us. We were given a WiFi password at check in. The password did not work and it was late so I didn't bother to call to see what the password really was so I am not sure what the speed was. The place was fine for one night, the location is fantastic and we had a great view from our patio. I would stay again, it was clean and good location, those are the most important to me.…
Last minute choice after a long 10h drive from Ottawa. Their reception is half a km away in another hotel. The first room they give us was not cleaned (sheets not changed, used towels from previous guests...etc). We called and drived back to pick up another key. Second room had the same conditioned, not yet cleaned. We called again, this time we were upset. The guy couldn't care less, he told us straight forward if we don't like it then just leave. Third room was again not cleaned yet. This time we called and we asked him to come to bring the key from another room. It was already passed midnight. Finally the forth room was cleaned. Overall the place is a motel Small rooms but nice, the view is nice too, and they cable. Wi-Fi internet is not working, it will connect to a wifi network but no internet connection/failure to connect. No breakfast included. Overpriced like anything else in Atlantic Canada. Poor staff attitude. The night receptionist said he will put a note to the day shift to give us a discount as he agreed the situation was not acceptable. Of course in the morning we had problems with them honoring the discount.…
Last-minute choice influenced by earlier traveller photo. My room was nothing like that photo. All rooms have partial to good views across lawn to water and town pier. My room was clean, cheaply furnished.
