We were touring Nova Scotia and had planned on staying here. Due to Hurricane Lee approaching the province and we are traveling in an RV, we decided to get off the province and head to a safer area, not knowing if there would be flooding or damage from the storm. The hotel refused to return our payment due to we weren’t in the time frame of their cancellation policy. I would think due to circumstances beyond our control, they could have waived their policy. If it wasnt for bad weather and our concern for our safety driving an RV, we would have loved to stay and finish our vacation of NS. Very disappointed. We will return next year, but wont stay here.

Our second stop was the lovely little town of Lunenberg and the Homeport Motel was an easy 10 to 15 minute walk into the old town. Spacious rooms and laundry facilities were appreciated. We saw a wild deer wander into the grounds which was nice!

We stayed in this property few years ago. It was clean but dated. It has been renovated recently and now the rooms look much better. We loved the tile walk-in shower. Short walk to Lunenburg, next door to grocery store. Will stay again.

We stayed recently for three days and our room was very clean. The bed was especially comfortable. In better weather it would be a very nice and easy walk into town. It is conveniently located near a gas station and grocery store. I thought the prices were quite reasonable. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

As of last year, this motel has a new owner according to the site manager. Our room was really clean (think grout and caulking) and quite spacious. It's an older type of motel with older fixtures etc but who cares about that if it's clean? About a 10-15 minute walk to historic Lunenburg so convenient location. Spent a very nice couple of nights. Also dog friendly so a bonus for us. Huge property so easy to walk dog around.

We stayed two nights. The motel is an older establishment with the rooms in parallel blocks up the hill behind the house/reception, and well away from the road. Comfortable, very clean, room with good beds, small bathroom, alcove for tea/coffee making and including a microwave. Opening windows, parking at the door. Being so far from the road it was very quiet, and windows could be opened for nice fresh air. The motel is about 1.5km from the old town, a very pleasant walk. There is a supermarket next to the motel, and a Tim Hortons across the road from that. At the time we stayed the biggest bonus was that you were removed from the dreadful smell in the old town (caused by ongoing drainage problems) though hopefully that is all fixed by now. Lunenburg, apart from being an interesting historic town (and in that vein, don't miss nearby Mahone Bay which is very beautiful), is a good place from which to explore Western Nova Scotia, and is far cheaper and easier paced than Halifax.

We were welcomed warmly by Gertrud and check-in was fast and easy. The room was very clean and spacious. It had everything you could possibly need for a great stay. The property is beautiful surrounded by gorgeous old trees. Would recommend and would return for sure. Thank you.

This is a place you want to stay. The room is large and comfortable. Somehow it almost has a homey feeling. There are real cups for morning coffee, not the paper or Styrofoam kind. They still have the little coffee makers that make about four 8 oz cups. Not the little single serve cups. The room and bathroom appear to have been recently updated. The bathroom floor looks brand new. If you are visiting the Lunenburg area stay here. If you like history and ships stay 2 or 3 days, there is a lot to see.

Rooms were very clean and air conditioned. There was a fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. Gertrude was very friendly and even recommended a great place to have dinner (always best to ask the local people). Bonus if you're into wildlife; in the early evening the deer come out from the adjacent woods to roam the grounds at leisure. Motel is conviently located next to a grogery store and liquor store and is a mere 12-15 minute walk to downtown Lunenburg wharf. This is handy since parking is VERY difficult to find downtown at mid-day.

We had a great trip and the hotel was priced well, but I was told that it was wheelchair accessible and it wasn't/ There was a step up to get into the unit and we had to use two people to get her in. Also, the toaster in one of our rooms was not working.
