I've stayed at other places in Queen Charlotte, and none of them came close to the Accommodations at Breezeway! Geoff Ray, our host, picked us up from the ferry and brought us to the property. He rents out cars & camper vans as well, so he set us up with a new Honda Civic as we were checking into our suite (so convenient)! Our luxurious 2 bedroom suite had high end wood finishing, comfortable beds, full kitchen and all appliances, full bright clean bathrooms, wireless internet, cable TV, our on private phone line, and a large DVD library we were free to use! During our 1 week stay Geoff (our host) took us out on a Sailboat tour which was the highlight of our trip, so much wildlife to see! Breezeway Accommodations is the best place to stay in Queen Charlotte, and truly has everything you need interms of accommodation, car rental, sailing tours, hiking trails, etc.

I have visited the islands several times and have stayed at other places in town. Now I wish I had tried the Breezeway first! Geoff Ray offers personalized hospitality as well as clean, comfortable rooms. He could not have been more welcoming and helpful with everything from a rental car to local information. The ability to cook my own meals in a clean and well equipped kitchen was a huge plus. I stayed for two and half weeks and would have been comfortable staying a lot longer if my schedule had permitted. The Breezeway is a home away from home. For travelers, it does not get any better than this.

My group (two couples) stayed at Breezeway Accommodations in August for our first couple of days in Haida Gwaii. The accommodations were generally fine, though certainly nothing fancy. We appreciated having a full kitchen and did a bit of our own cooking. We did not meet our host when we checked in but did find a snarky note about excessive internet use on the fridge (we had not yet used the internet, it as related to the usage of previous guests). We limited our internet usage as requested and had no interaction with the host throughout the stay.

When it came time to check out, o paid for one night's stay and one member of the other couple paid for theirs. We were both quoted a particular rate and were fine with it. However, when I reviewed my credit card statement, I had two charges from Breezeway: one for the original amount and another for approximately 40% of the original amount. I contacted Geoff to inquire about the additional charge and he stated he had forgotten to charge me the additional guest surcharge at the time of stay, so he just charged it to me retroactively and that I should pursue my friends for reimbursement. I expressed my concern about this practice: what if you had purchased an item from the grocery store and later they decided they had forgotten to charge you the correct amount so they retroactively charged your credit card for the difference without contacting you? People would stop using credit cards, for one, because when you pay in cash, you final bill is the end! I could understand charging my credit card if there had been damage, missing items, etc. but in this case we had been entirely honest about the fact that four of us were staying in the unit and had paid what we thought was the full bill at checkout. Further, if he felt he needed to recoup the surcharge after the fact, he could have contacted me by phone or email to let me know the mistake and I would have paid the fee.

Geoff has refused to budge on this issue. I actually didn't even ask for my money back, just for an apology and assurance that he wouldn't do this to another guest but he has refused to apologize, so here I am writing this review. I'm now pursuing a refund through my credit card as well, to alert them to his shady practice.

TLDR: the accommodations are basic and fine but l you may end up with additional charges on your credit card without notification.

The Breezeway was unlike any place I'd ever stayed. It was basically a set of apartments attached to our innkeeper's residence. Our clean, spacious suite had two beds, a kitchen, and was everything we wanted at a very decent price. Geoff was a kind host who promptly responded to my inquiries before our trip and let us use his laundry when we needed it.

The Breezeway is comfortable, clean and economical. We stayed for 5 nights. Geoff was very hospitable and welcoming including being very knowledgeable of Haida Gwaii.
I would definitely stay there again and recommend it for families.

We stayed at the Breezeway #1 suite, which had a very clean, newly renovated living room/kitchen/bathroom on the ground floor, and a very bright, airy master bedroom upstairs. It is located a small distance from the downtown strip, so very quiet and peaceful setting. The host, Geoff Ray, was very accomodating in letting us use his freezer to store some salmon that did not fit in our freezer, and when I managed to leave my purse behind, he very reliably sent it back to me in the mail.
Thanks Geoff, we'll be back.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights and the place was spacious and comfortable. We had a full suite, including well supplied kitchen, bathtub/shower in the washroonm, fairly hard queen bed up the stairs above the bright living room. The host Geoff was friendly and accomnodating. Nice view of the water from the bedroom and living room Lots of DVD's and there's TV and wired internet. Highly recommnend staying there. A dresser and mirrror in the bedroom would be welcome.

Our host was very accommodating - the smaller apartment was booked for our dates so he gave us the bigger one at the same price. The apartment was spacious, and comfortable with a kitchen and TV. Close to the ocean and a few minutes drive to Queen Charlotte City. We wanted to be able to do our own cooking so this was ideal. The oven and baking pan were big enough for the large salmon we were given, but there could have been a few more utensils.
