Don't book room 8. The room is dark dingy and has an unpleasant smell and overlooks the bins. I did get moved after the 1st night when I complained but as it was only a 2 day stay 50% of the stay was ruined! Breakfast was ok. Staff were quite helpful.

Room clean and comfortable, but food is prepared and not great. Chain pub with chain food and chain staff. It's not bad just wouldn't stay here if it wasn't one night work related. Breakfast was limited and not fresh, microwaved scramble, tough mushrooms, overcooked sausage and make your own tea from a thermos thing and PG Tips at that. Constant...

Enjoyed lunch here on 3 August. Nice welcome, despite arriving just before the noon food service started. We chose from the "Two courses for £8 menu". Very nice prawn cocktail and onion ring starters, then burger, chips and onion rings, lasagne and vegetable pie in filou pastry. Attentive serving staff in a pleasant hotel with bar and restaurant. Handy if you...

Driving home to YORK,via the Peak District and were struggling to find somewhere to eat. We called in to The Grouse and Claret and were so glad we did. We received a warm welcome. The service from the young lady was excellent. The food was lovely and good value. The toilets were clean. Really recommend and will visit again.

We stopped here for one night in our motorhome at the back of the pub. The site is clean and quiet. There is a large car park, children's play area and out side sitting/dining area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of beer and food. The pub is close to a 'Peak' shopping area...

My wife and I selected the Grouse and Claret for our second night away, on arriving from the outside it looked great, but on going in we approached a member of staff in the restaurant to ask how we book in, there were no signs to direct us, the lady pointed to the end of the bar, there was a...

it must have been a bad night for the kitchen staff, half eaten plates of food were left on the tables by diners, service was slow, 15 mins for drinks. the food when it came was uninspiring, the fries? were cold and there was more batter than fish on my dish. when told, the staff said they would tell the...

Stayed two nights and must say lives up to the 4* rating. The room was spacious with huge bathroom with shower and nicely furnished. Breakfasts were fine with good choice. Had two evening meals reasonably priced and well cooked with a quite extensive menu. Ideally located on the A6 4 miles from Matlock convenient for most of the attractions in...

Me dog loves it here! We live local and have eaten here a few times, usually very good. Marston chain pub but freshly prepared food , (I saw the boxes in the bin).
