Detailed Reviews
After initial hiccups experienced in Bristol (we've found our Hotel we've booked closed down!), we came across Southville Guest House and with it a beautiful person that gave us a roof to sleep under, without asking even cards details or payment upfront, trusting us and taking our word for it, which is simply amazing, even more in these awkward times. Tracy gave us a really spacious room, with a bathroom ensuite, placed at the rear of the building, therefore quiet and ventilated: we could truly rest after our long walks through the amazing city that is Bristol. Breakfast is included and there were a lot of things to choose from, even gluten free bread! The kitchen is always open so it's possible to store some stuff in the fridge and get it at any time. It's minutes away from the marina, where you can find nice shops, great places to eat out and from there is a short walk to the city centre. We fell in love with this city with its architecture, art, street art, food and independent shops, we're going to visit it more and more and going to stay in Tracy's B&B for sure!!!!

Perfect location just a 10 min walk from the city center so you can escape the noise of the city and enjoy a good rest after your day. Tracy, the host, is on point, she is a natural for this job : friendly and have the perfect sense of a proper welcome. She is prepared and organized and will send you what you need to know in advance. If she is not available when you arrive, she will send you all the details (room key is locked in a specific little box on the outside wall and you will also find a note with all the guest house breakfast and check out time). Breakfast is just what you need : tea-coffee, bread, toaster, milk, juices, cereals, fruits etc ... Rooms are comfy and clean such as the bathrooms. Tracy is also refreshing your room during the day and take time to chat with whoever she will see and also showing Bristol's see sights on a map. I will come back if I stay in Bristol again.

Southville Hell
The owner Tracy Hale is unprofessional and a very nasty middle aged woman. For 47 she looks about 67.
She doesn't clean the rooms properly what's so ever. I saw her put dirty towels in the bathrooms on the railings.
She is of bad character. Always asking guests about there business and personal life.
She expects guests to do there own recycling and washing up to make her life easy because she's too cheap too get staff to help her.
The rooms are very small and extremely over priced not worth that price at all.
She constantly stares at you when you talk to her she has a very suspicious mind set boarding Narcissistic. She definitely suffers from narcissistic personality disorder.
The whole experience in general was horrific.
Please do avoid.

Hi Shaulin I’m very upset that after letting you stay at my guest house for over a year and putting up with your odd behaviour you would thank me in this way. I imagine you felt embarrassed when I told you a neighbour had complained about you staring into their living room and waving at them from your bedroom window topless whilst they were watching tele. I told you this was unacceptable and you immediately personally attacked me. I have been nothing but good to you, letting you stay at the guest house for £25 per night (usually £48) and yes as you didn’t work I expected you to take out your own recycling (Which you rarely did.) This wasn’t due to laziness on my part. It’s also quite shocking to me that you left owing me £400 and still have the audacity to give me a horrible review. Let it be known that in August last year you gave me a gleaming review of 5 stars and even last week you were asking if you could stay until June. All I can say is that this review is more of a reflection of you than me.

We stayed here as part of a two night red letter day gift we received. Booking it was very simple, we contacted the guest house, gave our desired dates and the rest was taken care of.
Southville guest house is the perfect base for exploring Bristol, and also a 30minute drive from Bath. We spent two days in bath and one in Bristol although we could've easily done it the other way around too.
Room number 6: very big and spacious (one double and a bunk included) with TV, teas and coffees, hair dryer and bathroom. The shower is brilliant, as I'm over 6ft3 and had no problem fitting in the shower which was powerful and always hot.
Facilities: there are two kitchen areas which house the breakfast in mornings. We woke up late (10am) one morning and were still able to have breakfast which was brilliant. Loads of board games, spare shampoos etc, local guide books/maps all available. Iron and ironing board also available for use. Note - there are a variety of teas available and also several different milk and butter options to cater for intolerances etc. Having soya milk was a nice bonus and saved me going to the shop to buy some.
Host: Tracy is fantastic and it is refreshing to meet such a nice person. She has time for all of her guests and helps with any local advice needed. Tracys communication from booking to check out ensured a smooth process and was welcome.
Parking: we paid for the guest house parking which was spacious and hastle free. The streets are busy, hard to find spaces and restricted so this was a no brainer. The location of guesthouse is great, ten minute walk to get into the centre. It was easier to keep our car parked at the guest house (£5a day) than park two mins closer at £3 an hour.
Would stay again and certainly recommend

We, my husband and 2 kids aged 13 and 11 stayed here for 3 nights.
The room was beautiful, a double bed and bunk beds which was ideal for our family.
The en-suite bathroom was spotless and shower gel was provided along with hand soap, sanitiser and towels.
We also had the cutest outside area with a table and chairs for sitting outside.
Tracey the host was so friendly and gave us great ideas about where to go and how to get there.
The kitchen area was fantastic, it was self service and had tea, coffee, decaf coffee, cereals in the loveliest cannisters, bread, pan au chocolates, crepes, fruit and in the fridge, milk, soya milk, yogurts, fruit juices and cheese.
There was a great selection of fruit teas and green tea etc.
We were also able to use the kitchen in the evening and make tea whenever we wanted plus there was tea making facilities in the room.
The room had a hairdryer and TV.
There was a car park around the corner so we didn’t have to worry about finding a space.
The guest house is literally 10 minutes from the quay area which was hiving with people and cafes, pubs and eating places and had an eclectic atmosphere.
We will definitely come back if we come to Bristol again and to top it all there was a washing machine where we did a load of washing and Tracey dried it for us.
Just a wonderful experience in a brilliant city.

Tracy the owner is extremely welcoming and likes to put the finishing touches on everything she does. The B&B is located really centrally and has its own large car park. Its in a beautiful location where you can walk along the river and it's only a 10 minute walk to the City Centre. The rooms are clean, spacious and have everything you could ask for. The dining room is really bright and sunny. Couldn't fault this B&B.

Modern and well laid out accommodation within easy distance of Bristol City Centre, the harbourside, local attractions including SS Great Britain, several arts venues, nearby green space and Ashton Gate stadium.
All maintained to a high standard.
Good transport links, with the motorway within just a few miles, and public transport running on adjacent roads
The owner is very welcoming and helpful

Situated very close to the docks on a quiet residential street. A nice surprise was that the rooms with shared facilities have their own sink in-room. The owner/manager is absolutely amazing, committed to making you feel at home and making sure you have a great stay.
Really enjoyed my time here, and had one of the best sleeps ever!

After reading the reviews I was expecting a good experience and Tracy and Southville GH didn’t disappoint.
The GH was lovely and clean, beds comfy and breakfast was ok as well, we had egg and beans on toast for our last two mornings that we cooked ourselves but there was plenty to choose from anyway. We had a family room with en-suite and another lad had a single room with the bathroom just outside his room, no problems at all.
There was a kettle in the room and a choice of hot drinks and also small chocolate bars, there was also a Nespresso coffee machine in the kitchen, spot on.
Communication from Tracy was also bang on, sending me details of how to get in as she wouldn’t be there when we arrived and a little note with the key’s explaining everything.
Only downside for us was it was hot in the room but the building was hot so that can’t be helped.
Parking was a 30 seconds walk or outside after 5PM.
Overall a fantastic experience and we would all stay there again.
Cheers Tracy, it was a pleasure.

Hi Adam
You already know the answer but for the benefit of others ready
You can park for free on the street after 5pm until 9am. Please do NOT park next to the guest house as those spaces belong to my neighbours. You can park in my car park for £5, thanks. Car park - (BS3 1QA) The car park is on a one way street called Camden road. This is just off Coronation road by the river. Turn into Camden and on your left you will see double gates with signs saying ‘Glanville/Riverview car park’ Please park inside and walk left onto Allington Road. You’ll see my guest house on the left. Thanks, Tracy
Hi I have family en-suites (Double bed and a bunk bed) I can do a single rate on weekdays for £69
Yes I have a private car park for £5 a day.
Thanks,
Tracy
Hi
There aren't any rooms on ground level but I have a family room down 4 steps. There are residents parking spaces right outside my guest house that Blue badge holders can park in without any restrictions. Alternatively I have a private car park that I charge £5 per day for.
Hi I'm sorry for the late reply! Trip advisor send so many emails it's difficult to see the important ones. I think there was a bit of confusion with the set up of the rooms on Booking. The twin and triple rooms are with a shared bathroom. I have changed the description now. Sorry about the confusion.
Kind regards,
Tracy
