Avoid the car park, daughters car was broken into & it looks like it’s a common occurrence as lots of smashed windows & glass visible on the ground! Hotel will not take responsibility if this happens!
Avoid this hotel! Our stay at the Grand Mercure was extremely disappointing. Check-in is advertised for 3pm, however, we weren't able to check in until gone 4pm which made us late for our meal reservations. The room had clearly been rushed and to say it was unclean would be an understatement. There were stains all on the carpets, walls and ceilings. I have attached a few images to highlight these points, although, they're only a snippet to the incredibly low standards of the room as there were further issues such as; the iron being damaged, the broken TV remote, and the list could go on. I have stayed at the hotel on multiple occasions before and I definitely won't be returning again. I have attempted to get in touch with the hotel and after numerous emails over the past 2 months they have ignored all my emails. Although, they had no issues in responding to my emails when they wanted my money. As stated at the beginning of the review, avoid this hotel and spend your money elsewhere!…
Beautifully presented hotel, our room was huge with lighting only at one end which made chilling on the sofa a gloomy affair, a standard lamp in the corner would have helped immensely. Breakfast was great, hot, plentiful, all the options you could wish for. Evening meal not fabulous, about what you'd expect at a Weatherspoons or other chain food pub. Certainly not inedible but not great. We had two nights mid week and slept well without any disturbance and our window was onto the street (which is fairly quiet.) I would stay again for sure but probably go out for dinner.
Paper thin walls and dirty room. There was alcohol from the previous guests left and the bathroom had not been cleaned well. The walls are paper thin and next door was blaring their telly until 1am. Really disappointed with our stay. Reception was not interested in the feedback. The staff however at breakfast were kind.
Good: staff, decor, clean, accessorised bedrooms - everything you need. Bad: mattress as hard as the floor, pillows not soft, something that sounded like a helicopter outside bedroom window ALL night (likely heat/aircon system), lack of plant based options on offer on breakfast buffets.
Where to start? The view from our room was onto a space between the buildings wherein was fixed a net to deter birds.Several had been caught in the net and just skeletons remained.Disgusting my 9yo commented. The room was painted a dark colour and with little natural light and poor room lighting was like a dungeon. The sofa bed provided for our child was poor, and you could feel the springs through the mattress. The water was lukewarm and the basin tap stiff. I reported this to a member of staff on checkout and was met with disinterest. Throughout our stay one of the two lifts was out of order resulting in longer waits Be warned do not stay at this hotel
While an attempt at refurbishment has been made in recent years, there’s no hiding a sense of tardiness about the place. The peep hole in my room’s door was missing, so had been stuffed with some paper. The box under my mattress was several inches wider than it should have been. The bathroom had seen better days, too. And I had been given an upgrade! None of that would matter too much, but the bedroom door was also a little stiff, meaning it needed a light tug to close properly. I did this every time I left my room, but housecleaning didn’t, meaning I twice arrived back to find the door left ajar. Fortunately nothing was stolen. I informed the front desk after the first occurrence, but clearly this made little difference. Staff were friendly and polite, but overall I leave feeling massively underwhelmed. Will look elsewhere next time I’m in Bristol.…
We have stayed twice at this hotel in February 2023. Its location is perfect for us and our room was adequate. Our first stay had a decent view on the second floor but our second was on the first floor and was limited. Rooms have no info on Tv, air conditioning, bar and restaurant menu and we were on our last day before we read the cards on the door re reusing your towels for 100 reward points. Food in restaurant at breakfast was at best luke warm in common with many other hotels. I expect Accor hotels to be better. The best thing by far about this hotel is the staff. From reception on arrival to bar and restaurant staff and cleaners they are smiling, efficient and helpful. Thank you. We’ll be back.
We booked this hotel from pictures online because we could see a swimming pool. There isn't one,we complained to the receptionist. As did 2 other men who were stood in the main lobby in shorts holding towels. It's such a shame because a pool would really set this hotel apart from similar ones That said everything else was good. Our room, the bar, breakfast and the location. We liked it all
After reading the reviews I nearly cancelled but was super impressed with the rooms ( we had two rooms) and breakfast. Brilliant location, everything was really clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked and continually topped up. The staff were not over friendly but that’s okay - they were polite and efficient- it was clear everyone worked hard
