We’ve been coming here for about six years now. Location is great, welcome is friendly and the stay is very comfortable. Point of this note is to recognise that the breakfast service keeps getting better and better. There’s now extra space for cereals and the bread / pastries and there’s a new nicer presentation on the cooked food buffet which includes more vegetarian options. And, best of all, they still have the wonderful berries and strawberry mix on the fruit counter. Thank you Shalini and others who continue to make breakfast at this hotel one you can really look forward to!

We stayed in an Executive King Room and reported some issues to the Ops Manager which could be solved by refurbishment and maintenance/improvement. I am confident that he and his team will work hard to address these. The Ops Manager visited us quickly in person to take on board the issues reported and gave us a generous discount on the room. This review was spontaneously written and was in no way solicited by the hotel staff.

The positives are:

Large comfortable bed
Large enough room to easily store a bike
Very good level of darkness with curtains drawn
Illuminated wardrobes
Illuminated makeup mirror in bathroom
Central location
Convenient NCP car park right next to hotel
Good quality buffet breakfast

We had a 2 night stay before the expected 2nd lockdown was announced and were nicely surprised with our experience here.
Covid protocol was observed throughout all areas of the hotel by staff and guests. The Superior size room was far bigger and much better decorated than expected. Everything was spotlessly clean!
All staff were helpful and friendly. Full breakfast selections were available and there was no limit on what you could have. Special thanks to Poppy for her buoyant and fun personality to start the day off!
NOTE - NCP next door offers discounted rate @ £17.50 for 24 hours. However, check JustPark app for Cumberland Street secure parking at rear of hotel @ £15.00 for 48 hours. Tight spaces but much cheaper!

This is my opinion on a stay after lockdown.

Check in was quick, easy and early. Thanks for remembering my preferences.

1st night and 1st morning all really good.

Breakfast is still an all you can eat buffet the only differences are a reduced menu, although they still have alot on offer and the staff plate everything up for you. You just tell them what you would like..... Simple!

2nd morning Tuesday 22nd October. I feel really sorry for the lady I believe she was called Polly or Poppy I can't remember.

She was on her own but yet managed to cover everything.

Meet & greet
Giving the covid speech
Making drinks
Plating breakfast
Cleaning
Replenish the buffet
And repeat

All with a cheery personality and nothing was too much trouble.

She was by herself for approximately 40 minutes from 7am Well done you!!! Absolutely amazing!!

Well done to the man who came out from reception area to give her a hand.

I do have one issues I need to address...... SECURITY!! Why do you need so many security staff. When we arrived on Sunday the man on the desk greeted us but the 2 security guards who were sat near to the lifts just sat there. 1 was staring into space and the other was on his phone. Neither of them acknowledged or approached us to go through covid procedures. At one point we actually thought one of them had taken root in his chair. What a waste of your money which could be put to good use elsewhere!

Dear Cescott, Thank you for your 5 star review and in particular your amazing comments about Poppy! She's a real star and we're certainly very lucky to have her as part of the team. The Security Team are not employed or paid by the hotel. They are working with a long term group booking and will be departing this weekend when the group departs. I'm sorry if their presence detracted from the enjoyment of your stay. Thank you again for your kind comments and we do look forward to welcoming you back to Holiday Inn Bristol City Centre in the future. Kind regards, Ben

Stayed here for our first visit to Bristol - nice clean, spacious room, comfortable beds, brilliant shower and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The location is great - very central, easy to get to by car and within walking distance of a Tesco Express, the main shopping areas and sightseeing attractions.
Covid restrictions meant we needed to limit numbers in the lift and follow mask and queuing protocols but this was clearly indicated throughout the hotel and it was obvious that staff were keeping things very clean and managing the social distancing well.
My only issue was that the air conditioning in the room didn't work so it was rather hot and stuffy. When I mentioned this at reception they apologised and gave us our parking for the two nights free.

Dear Meggymoo, Thanks for taking the time to complete a review following your recent stay with us. I am sorry that the air conditioning in your room wasn't working correctly. Since your stay we have had a full survey and a number of repairs carried out on the system to get it back up and running correctly. I was pleased to read that everything else about your stay met your expectations and I'm glad that you felt the hotel was clean and we are managing the current social distancing guidelines well. I hope that you'll choose to stay with us again when visiting Bristol. Kind regards, Ben

A clean, comfortable hotel a stones throw from Cabot Circus, with handy parking on site.

Our bedroom was spotless and provided a great night sleep!
We decided to eat in the restaurant on the Saturday night, a great choice of food which was tasty, reasonably priced with warm and welcoming staff.

Breakfast hit the spot and despite being busy food was replenished regularly.

Your staff are a credit to the hotel, we hope to return soon.

Using HIE instead of Airbnb or Booking.com, I gave this hotela try. Staying with my daughter, we had a twin bed room. It was clean and comfortable.
The bathroom lock came lose so we couldn't use the lock. All it needed was a hex headed key to secure the knob back on ‐ it didn't happen for 3 days. The window couldn't be opened either. We were offered another room, which we declined (have you tried moving a teenager with luggage once unpacked?). They gave us a complimentary drink at the bar.
Another downside of staying here is the huge cost of car parking. We used the hotel as a base so we walked around Bristol. We only used the car to visit Bath. It was cheaper for us to park on a local car park for £4.70 - overnight. It would have been nice to get offered a Bristol Street map. Buses stop outside or near the hotel. The rail station is also opposite.

We stayed at the hotel overnight on our way down South. The hotel appeared to be housing a very large number of refugees.
The toilet was faulty and would not flush which we reported to reception who sent up a maintenance man. We were advised this had been fixed, but unfortunately this was not the case. The large window in the room had shattered inside the glass casing, we also reported this to reception.
At 1130 pm we were fast asleep and the fire alarm sounded,we were told to evacuate. When we got to the stairs we were advised by the management that the visitors in the next room with children had set off the fire alarm.
The following morning at breakfast was no better with all the visitors and children just taking the food which had been put out by the Staff.
The reception staff apologised and we received a £50 refund.
This stay was not the best and also not the cheapest for a very disturbed night by noisy guests in the next room!,

Hi 917beverleyw, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I was very concerned to read your comments regarding the toilet condition, window, fire alarm, breakfast experience, and value. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the joy of travel for all experience that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. Orlando A. Case Manager IHGService

I checked into my deluxe king room and the first thing I saw was a blood mark on a towel in the bathroom, I then realised the room was very hot and stuffy. The aircon had an error message and couldn't be adjusted. I phoned the reception and they offered to change rooms. I went to a different room on the same floor and went out. At 9pm I returned and my room was as hot and stuffy as the first room. The aircon was flashing with the same error message. The reception said the hotel was full (the hotel seemed empty!) and that it was too late to get a technician. She offered to send up a fan, but since you can't open the windows the room was hot and stuffy all night and I barely slept. The next morning I checked out and said to the receptionist that my aircon didn't work and my room was very hot - she replied 'I know you spoke to me last night". I replied that I expected better from.a Holiday Inn and she turned away and muttered 'I know' and then she walked off! Even without this problem the rooms are quite old and tired and there are better options in central Bristol!

Thoroughly enjoyed our New Year at the start of 2022, with everything going on in the world with the COVID Pandemic the Bristol Centre Holiday Inn was an excellent choice. The team were all friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. As a family we felt very safe at all times and the hotel was extremely clean and tidy adding to feel of being safe. We ate in the restaurant on the evening and the deal we bought direct from the hotel allowed us to choose a 3 course meal, which was excellent. For breakfast the team catered for my dietary requirements to make I had everything I needed. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel for both business and pleasure alike. Thank you Bristol IHG team for making my family's stay so enjoyable.

Hi Maria, The bus station is just across the road. You only have to cross a couple of roads and there are crossings. Its not worth getting a taxi. Its 2 mins walk to the hotel.
