On entering and leaving would suggest a banister rail should be in place on entering the hotel anyone who has a difficulty with stairs. Making our way towards the bar it was like entering a courtyard no warmth and no atmosphere.Although there were other rooms better furnished only discovered them when leaving.Completely disappointed unlikely we will be back again.

Staff on reception were not very helpful on checking in we were not given directions to the lift we were expected to use the stairs with luggage. The Fire alarm went off 3 times during the night, this was very scary and no apology offered for this.

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to read your review, I personally came in to speak to guests at reception on Saturday morning, I would have been more than delighted to discuss the matter with you in person. A guest raised the alarm on Saturday morning and the team went into full fire evacuation mode. This would have taken priority over everything else in the hotel. It was established that the guest falsely raised the alarm and, in an attempt, to rectify the matter had tampered with the call point which meant the alarm went off a further number of times. Due to the damage caused by the guest an engineer had to be called before the system could be fully reset. I do apologise that this happened during your stay however the fire system did as expect, fortunately it was a false alarm. Tampering with fire and life safety equipment is a criminal offence but unfortunately these things happen on occasion and the matter has been addressed with the guest in question. This matter was out of the hands of the hotel and it would be a shame if it marred your opinion us, given that the remainder of your stay was a positive experience. If you wish to return to the hotel do let me know and I can personally look after your stay. Regards Alison Mansfield General Manager

It was our first visit to the Clayton in Bristol, and it won’t be our last. It’s well situated, and a lovely hotel. We had a double and single bed in our room, which was clean and well-appointed, and nice and quiet. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning, for only £12 as we booked the night before. We’ll definitely stay here again when visiting Bristol!

Nice hotel, staff were very friendly on arrival. The room was clean and spacious, but very cold, we tried to alter the air conditioning and heating dial, but it really had a mind of its own. Sorry to say, but the breakfast wasn’t nice, buffet style, cold and dried up. Some of the cake slices had also gone dry. The big problem for us was the fact that we parked our car on the recommended car park, which the hotel as an arrangement with, to return to the car broken into, windows smashed, we rang the hotel from the car park and they didn’t want to know, couldn’t care less…. After reading reviews of the car park, this has been happening for a while, and the Clayton hotel know all about it! Apparently four cars were smashed and broken into! That day! It’s a lesson learned on our part, but still feel disappointed by the hotel.

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to hear your feedback about the car park. As a city centre hotel, we do not have our own car parking however we are located close to several car parks all of which are listed on our website for convenience. The NCP car park is not part of the hotel and therefore we have limited control over issues that our guests experience with them. The NCP Nelson Street offers a discounted price to any person visiting or working in the city that stays over night or on a 24-hour rate. This is advertised throughout the city and discount cards are held at reception, similar to excursion discount brochures that we provide to local tourist attractions. Any issues experienced in the car park should be reported to NCP directly and the local police to ensure action can be taken. I am sorry you had this experience and hope we can welcome you back again. Regards Alison Mansfield General Manager

We stayed at this hotel whilst visiting family and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was inside and out. There are a couple of parking spaces for disabled people about 10-15 metres away from the front entrance and you can park on the double yellow lines for 3 hours with a blue badge to unload luggage. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable and clean.

Absolutely fantastic hotel! Stayed for 2 nights and couldn’t fault anything! Great location in the heart of the city. The hotel itself is beautiful, rooms are spacious, tidy and clean. Bar area was good, the whole place is very pleasing on the eye! All the staff were friendly and happy to help. Will definitely book again if coming back to Bristol!

Just back from a 2 night stay at this fab hotel in the heart of gorgeous Bristol with some friends. A Huge thanks to all fabulous team at the hotel, they are just the best. There is an air in the hotel of all staff really enjoying their jobs and their colleagues, it was palpable. Alex in the bar was so helpful too as were all the restaurant staff . Reception team are fantastic too and the fab girl with the Spanish accent apologies can’t remember her name, she was a breath of fresh air and so so helpful as we arrived early for check in and she did all she could together with the team to look after us. Breakfast was delicious and love the restaurant area, drinks in the evening were tasty too 😊 We will def be back as the walking tour was brilliant in the city and the trip to Clifton, so scenic and a sunny day too! You have something very unique at this hotel, the warmest of welcomes for sure.

A great location close to both the old part of the city and the shopping area. The room was very comfortable and quiet on the 7th floor. The only thing we didn’t like was the very poor water pressure in the shower. We were a little put out on arriving to be met by a very loud hen party in the lobby but we didn’t hear any other guests while in our room. We didn’t eat at the hotel because there are lots of great local places to find.
