One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Appalling from start to finish. Laughingly asking for 116 for 1 night. At 16 quid I would feel cheated. Walked in only to be faced with two members of staff holding a conversation made little to no attempt to stop and check us in. Rather they checked us in whilst maintaining their conversation. Poor start. Then walked to lift where one door was hanging off having been crowbarred. Got to room on 3rd floor. Poor fixtures, old and tatty. Stayed for 4 nights and averaged around 4-5 hrs per night. No air conditioning had to therefore open window. Hotel incorporates a bar along a very busy bar infested road. Very loud until 3 am in the morning. Informed staff on reception that it was unbearable without air conditioning and they shrugged their shoulders. Customer service course obviously needs updating at mercure hotels. Cleaning in the room was non existent. Having travelled 5 hrs to get there we used the caffè sachets and milk. Also consumed both bottles of water. Never replaced any of these items in the whole time.( 4 nights).Quilt was left as we left it. No attempt to adjust. Bins were emptied and towels replaced and that’s it. So what in hell are you actually paying for. On check out I advised the receptionist that I thought it was a crap hotel her reaction was to shrug her shoulders. She offered nothing so if assume that even the staff know how bad it is.

Great hotel if you don't need to actually get any sleep. Rooms very hot as air conditioning only blows hot air. Reported this on day one, checked out on day 4 and still not fixed. Due to the heat had to open windows so really noise from the bars outside, drunks fighting in the early hours and some pillock racing his car at about 4am. Once the drunks have staggered away the early morning deliveries start so you're lucky if you get an hours sleep. Towels changed daily but rest of room a bit grubby, especially bedding. One lift out of action with doors crowbarred open isn't a good look. Wasn't expecting 5 star but had at least hoped to be able to sleep. Tip for reception staff when someone reports a problem at least pretend you're interested and write down the room number instead of saying no need because you'll remember it. Really disappointing experience.

The room was dirty, the bathroom was cheap, they have no safe in the room, they only give one large towel per person, they don’t clean your room during your stay even if you ask for it., the bed sheets were old and rusty and with several spots on them. The location is good.

We stayed one night and when we got to the room it was dirty, dust everywhere and there was pee and hair in the toilet and it smelled really bad. They changed our room and it was better. When we checked out, we felt discriminated against since we requested from the day before to leave our bags for a few hours and we were denied with a lousy attitude from the manager on duty (Carol).

Dear Grettel mariann A, Thank you very much for taking your time to write us your review with a constructive feedback. Apologies that your first room was not on an Ibis Bristol Centre standard and I am glad that the reception team moved you to a better room straight away to assure you would have a pleasant stay. I am sorry that you have felt discriminated during your check out, all I have tried to inform you is that our luggage store was full at that moment when you requested to leave your luggage with us. Thank you for your feedback and please be assured that better solutions will be put in place to avoid this kind of situation to happen again. We hope to welcome you again and once again apologies on making you feel uncomfortable and not helping you as much as expected. Kind Regards, Carol Wallner Assistant General Manager

BED BUGS!!!!! Avoid!!!!!! Stayed here and have been bitten all over by bed bugs, with one of my eyes even swelling shut. Not worth the risk staying here. On top of that, the rooms themselves are very dated and the tap in our bathroom barely trickled water out. I’m sure there are lots of better places to stay, where you won’t have to visit the doctors for antihistamines afterwards

Stayed for one night £144 (add £24 breakfast for 2 if you want it). Great location, friendly staff, vibrant little bar, clean. Twin room with smallest single beds we've ever slept in, very narrow. In the morning shower was a joke, little more than a dribble. £12.50p for overnight parking at Millenium car park (even with discount from hotel).

I was very pleased that I booked the Ibis City Centre Hotel. It was inexpensive, very clean, and had all the amenities I needed. As the name says, it is in a perfectly central location, close to a variety of restaurants, pubs, cafes etc. as well as many places of entertainment and interest. My room was on the 4th floor, and really quiet and peaceful. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. Breakfast was available, as was the 24 hour bar menu. An excellent bus service ran nearby, and also ferries up and down the river. Unfortunately during winter, the tourist buses and boat trips are not running. I would recommend the Ibis to everyone.

Stayed at the Ibis as a weekend treat in Brighton. Perfect location for the train station just steps away. Bars, pubs, restaurants, shopping minutes away, but the tourist spots like the pier and Royal Pavilion would be an easy 20 minute walk but there is a bus service right outside to take you there. Rooms I would say are basic, but they are clean, comfortable, I think were pretty spacious, had every thing you needed and a good size bathroom. I was concerned because of its location to the station that it would be a Mecca for stag and hen do’s, there was no problem and no noise at all, great nights sleep for all of our stay. Highlight is breakfast, the Ibis team have tried to cater for everyone in terms of diet requirements and what a super job they have done. The restaurant serves food and drinks throughout the day, and although I never took advantage of it the bar is 24 hours for guests. Must remember the staff, very friendly, polite and welcoming. Definitely will come here again, perfect stay for a great long weekend, thank you Ibis team

I opted to stay at the Ibis Bristol centre hotel after having a really good experience there a few years ago. But all fool me for not checking recent reviews, as the hotel has gone massively downhill since then. I know Ibis is renowned for its minimalist, no-frills approach, but this branch really does take the biscuit. Where to begin? When I last stayed there, the decor and furniture was at least semi-decent - i.e a comfortable bed and proper desk, seating and wardrobe, but the hotel has since rebranded itself as a cheapskate "pod hotel" affair. The wardrobe is merely a small rail with no doors attached, but two oddly shaped curved slabs of MDF on either side. There's no chair to sit on but a weird, uncomfortable slab of MDF with a tiny padded object masquerading as a pillow. The bed is tantamount to sleeping on concrete; hideously hard and uncomfortable but great if you like waking up with a stiff neck. The decor is laughable to the point that I wonder if someone was deliberately taking the pee, and striving to make it look as cheap and tacky as possible. Surrounding the wonkily-placed TV on the wall is a childlike chalk illustration of a bookshelf, filled with miscellaneous items such as books, a photo frame, plant and radio. It's so badly drawn that one wonders why they bothered commissioning an artist at all. They really would have been better off leaving it as a blank wall. The bathroom is a howler of an experience. A tiny step-in pod in which you can barely swing a cat. The door didn't even close because it was too big/misshapen for the door frame! The toiletries were cheap, disgusting and steeped in horrible chemicals. The products are also tough on your skin and hair, unless you have a hide like a rhino. It's not only the decor that's awful but also the noise from outside, which deprived me and my partner of a good night's sleep. We were on the third floor but could hear drunken shouting outside until the early hours of the morning, emanating from the bars around the corner, despite them all shutting at 11am. This is unacceptable and there should be some form of patrols put in place to stop drunken revellers causing so much noise and disruption to shed-loads of hotel guests who are paying plenty of money to stay at the Ibis, at the ungodly hour of 2am. If the noise was that bad during a mid-week stay, I dread to think how bad it gets at the weekend. The only saving grace of this hotel is its great location in proximity to the city centre, but even then, you're better off staying somewhere less tacky and less hectic because you'll likely end up paying a similar amount of money.

Great location, just a couple of minutes from Temple Meads station. The check in staff were very pleasant, although the rooms are a little basic they are spotlessly clean! What made it for us was the breakfast, everything topped up regularly and nice and hot, the two ladies (Sabrina and Ana) need a special mention they were amazing, just what’s needed in a hotel!!
