For the best of Bristol old and new, stay at Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Lewins Mead). Our new-generation bedrooms, each featuring and impressive 40" flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large shower head, and extra-comfy bed are a great contrast to the quirky Christmas Steps Arts Quarter and the Unitarian Meeting House. You're spoilt for choice for things to do in and around Lewins Mead. The famous Floating Harbour, only a 15 minute walk away, is a hub for eating, drinking and cultural attractions such as M-Shed, Watershed and SS Britain. When you've had your fill of the city, come back to your Bristol hotel and sit down to dinner at Brewers Fayre, our on-site restaurant.

I always choose Premier Inn as you know what you’re going to get, and they did not disappoint.
Friendly service, easy check in, clean, comfortable, safe and central to the city centre, loads of shops and restaurants around too.

This Premium Inn has an Easy check in Process, very clean rooms with a kettle to make tea and coffee. The Location was excellent, central location and the rooms were very clean. The bed was comfortable and was very quiet so was able to get a good nights sleep.
I didn’t eat dinner but did enjoy the buffet breakfast that included, cereal, yoghurt, toast, bacon, sausages, hash brown, tomatoes, beans and more.
I didn’t use any parking facilities so unfortunately I cannot comment on how good or bad that is. I only used the free WI-FI without an upgrade that would have cost £5, hence the connection really wasn’t all that good, kept cutting in and out. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely book this hotel again.

My husband is disabled and we stayed in an assisted room. The room was spacious, extremely comfortable and the bathroom facilities with wet room were the best we have experienced in any hotel. The hotel is ideally situated and the near-by taxi rank made transort around Bristol easy. Staff were also pleasant, professional and very helpful. Breakfast was also very good; hot, plentiful, varied and with an excellent sausage which earned top marks on our tasty sausage rating. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for 4 nights for a little holiday, and have very mixed feelings about it!
The hotel itself was nice, and in a great location for either walking into the city centre for shopping, or out to the Quay and all the restaurants/bars. The recommended car park is extortionate, so we used the car park on Trenchard Street, which was much more reasonable and not too far a walk. The staff were always friendly and pleasant whenever we came in or out.
Our first issue was the room location, we had room 101, a corner room right next to the stairwell- so every time someone came onto the floor the door slammed, meaning very little sleep. The window in this room also doesn't open, meaning no fresh air at all, again affecting our sleep. Having said that, the window not opening did mean we heard no noise from outside unless a car used its horn! The bed was so uncomfortable for us both, the pillows were terrible and on arrival there was about a quarter of a roll of toilet paper- which was not really going to last 4 nights!
Second issue was the noise level of other guests. We had noisy neighbours for 3 out of 4 nights, and further down the corridor on the Wednesday night there were groups of teens running in and out each others room until early hours of the morning. Thursday night some revellers got back late and literally yelled down the corridor to each other. The lovely girl on reception did find me some ear plugs, but it just wasn't enough. I do feel like staff should be able to step in and ask these people to be quiet and respect other guests!
We did have breakfast one morning and it was reasonable.

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, General Manager at Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Lewins Mead) hotel
Responded 21 Sept 2021
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. Whilst we're happy you stayed with us and you were pleased with the location and the service from staff, we're sorry you found the bed uncomfortable and you had a noise disturbance. We can imagine you were left feeling let down and this certainly isn't how we want our guests to feel. We'd like to assure you we'll raise this with the Hotel Manager to see what improvements can be made going forward. We wouldn't want your experience to happen again so the rooms will be inspected and the Reception team will be informed to ensure noise checks are being carried out. We hope you don't think twice about returning so please have confidence this isn't our usual standard and your comments will be picked up. Thanks again for your review and we hope to see you again soon. Ricky

Reception Staff are friendly and engaging! Chloe for me was the star! Albert was great so was the female Night Auditor over the weekend, I forgot her name. I will definitely comeback and recommend this hotel.

Only negative was that the cup in my room was not thoroughly cleaned and there was some sticky stuff on one of the teaspoons. If this facilities cannot be cleaned properly I wonder if the rooms are cleaned to prevent Covid19 virus. Housekeepers should be given more time to clean each room.

After arriving at Holes Bay Premier Inn, we were greeted by the staff that showed us how to use the new check in system. Once this was complete we were informed that the hotel hadn’t yet receive their delivery of towels and we were told as soon as these arrived they would be sent straight up to our room. After arriving back at the hotel after going out for dinner we discovered the towels still had not been put on our room so after going down to reception to ask if they had arrived yet we were told no and that they didn’t know when they would be arriving but reassured us again that they would deliver to our room as soon as they arrived. We also discovered once back in our room there was no extra pillows and had to sleep on a single pillow each, which cause myself and my wife to wake up with backache. When we woke up the next morning there was still no sign of any towels. As we were pushed for time due to us leaving early to go on the boat across to jersey we were unable to shower as one does not expect to have to pack your own towels! When we confronted the front desk about this all they had to say was they still hadn’t arrived and shrugged their shoulders. I understand that these things happen sometimes but I felt the staff were not very apologetic or trying to help at all! Highly doubt we will be back to stay at Holes Bay Premier Inn again!

Good location and many quiet rooms on top floor. However, none of the windows can be opened which is terrible not only during Covid where windows should be opened but during the recent heatwave. Worst of all is the so-called air conditioning. It is virtually non-existent, you cannot set the air con lower than 19 degrees and the air con units switch off once 19 degrees is reached. Which during a hot summer is immediately. The reception staff are all superb. They cannot do enough for you. I tested out various rooms on floors 6 and 7 over a three night period. No room was really cool. Rooms were airless and you can only get fresh air if you step outside. The whole huge and relatively new Premier Inn is like an air-sealed unit where it is difficult to breathe at night. The hotel provides additional fans for the rooms but where there is already bad and hot air this is then made worse by a fan. There are super thick duvets on the beds fit for cold winters but not hot summers. Upon request of sheets we were provided with clean sheets and we ditched the super togged duvet. You will receive help with everything at the hotel but sadly the staff cannot do anything about the insufficient air con

I wouldn't normally leave a review of PI, as it almost a byword for consistency. This chain undoubtedly provides best bang for the buck, and anytime I've visited, I've always has a great stay in a clean well sized room, and the staff are always on hand and friendly.
This was no different this time during our 5 day stay. Our room on the second floor was incredibly well soundproofed too, had a decent sized TV and a great shower.

However, the hotel were having a few issues with room cleaning staff, so were unable to provide cleaning every day. A star has been lost, due to ever present smell of cannabis (although admittedly not just in the hotel, but in bars and the streets too). There also seemed to be a collection of (harmless) undesirables congregating around the front entrance to the hotel at various times of day, although again, this hotel was not alone with this problem. As a first time visitor to Bristol, I would probably have chosen to stay closer to Harbourside (a bit further South and West) given a second chance. As a tourist, most of the action and attractions were happening in this area, and the extra 10 min walk to Lewins Mead was less⁰ convenient.

I'm also going to give a plug to the Assisi cafe just to the west of the hotel. This was one of the cleanest and cheapest places we came across for breakfast in our 5 days and the food was excellent. The owner himself works in the cafe, and he obviously takes great pride in providing quality service and food.

I also want to warn others on the use of the direct phone line inside the hotel to Bristol Direct Cars taxi company. I called this taxi to go from Premier Inn Lewins Mead to Bristol Airport and got an estimate of £30.
On the next day, after travelling to the airport, the taxi driver informed us that the fare was £46. There were NO hold ups during our journey.
On making the driver aware of the estimate, he called his office and after a few seconds said the price would be reduced to £36. I couldn't be bothered arguing.
I understand that the £30 was only an estimate, but someone being less diligent, would have been over charged by 50%. I am surprised Premier Inn allow this sort of thing to sully their name, and perhaps they don't know what is going on, but buyer beware and be sure to get an estimate before travelling with this company

We visited for a family mid-week getaway. There were a few problems (beds not totally made up when we arrived, nearly ran out of toilet roll) but everything we mentioned at reception was dealt with immediately. Other people have commented on linen problems but we were told that the people who are responsible for linen had been on strike the previous week.
Other people have commented on the parking. Yes it is expensive but the two large NCP car parks are extremely close (one is just across the road)and and you can get 25% off through staying at the hotel. The parking info is clearly stated on the premier inn website.
Only point to take note of is if you’re having breakfast, you need to make sure you book a time. We’ve stayed in a premier inn many times but never needed to book a time. Due to covid restrictions, the restaurant are having to limit numbers and times seem to be randomly allocated. We managed to change ours on day two but it wasn’t made totally clear to us at check-in.
The staff were always helpful and polite, it was what we would expect from a Premier Inn and for £73 for two nights in a family room, we certainly can’t complain.

There is a bus from the Airport to Temple Meads train station (Airport Flyer). I then got a taxi to the hotel as it was late at night. But it's walkable and there are local buses - check Google :)

I cannot recall seeing a socket at the side of the bed in our standard room. My partner is convinced that they are available but in premier rooms only. If you ring Premier Inn they will give you the answers you need.

Yes, it is close to shops. And if these aren't the shops you are looking for, a 10-minute stroll will get you where you want to be. Or take a rucksack and hop on one of the eScooters that are all over the place. Alternatively, try Bristol City Centre (Haymarket) hotel which is a 5-minute walk from Bristol Shopping Quarter, according to its website.
