This was an overnight stop but great location, simple but decent room and having a bar/cafe with proper breakfast option added that bit extra all for a budget price. Perfect for us on this occasion. Thank-you!
Next morning the Breakfast room was like a bomb had gone off, food on floor. Food station in need of a clean, no cutlery and bits of the remaining food in bowls that once house cooked food. Food station and tables unclean. One cook and a young girl rushed off her feet who to be fare attended to our needs very quickly. This was 10 am and another hour to go 😳 The woman who was sat on a disgusting tatty reception chair came into the breakfast room from reception started to mess with the clean glasses but not using the hand gel !!
Does COVID cleaning not apply to a receptionist!! On checking out we found her to be the manager! Who incidentally was eating her breakfast on reception when I handed back the hairdryer and pointed out that the Pat test ended 08/21 some 3 months previous.
I don’t think we will be back at this particular Travelodge, to be sure 😱
Staff, in particular Sofie were excellent. She couldn't do enough for you and was very welcoming and sweet with each interaction. She was also the only front of house member of staff on duty at some points, doing her best to serve everyone. Cleaning staff were also amazing.
The room itself was warm and quiet (123) and overlooks the canal basin. Although a bit small, but this is of course a budget hotel.
Only major gripe would be the shocking quality of the toilet paper that disintegrates upon touching and will find it's way across your room. The duvet did also leave its cover over the course of the week - doesn't have poppers or buttons.
Nice bar/restaurant area. Drinks a bit steep but I suppose you're paying for the convenience. Unlimited buffet breakfast is a good deal with lots of options, although the orange juice again being budget was a bit rank. Otherwise all good and would stay here again!
Lovely view of canal. The courtyard area in front of Buckinghamshire University was a gathering place for some young people & sound travels! Lots of rubbish & broken glass left by them which was a conc6fir the many dogs & dog walkers.
Our sink was blocked - it must have been the same when the room was serviced before our arrival which questions why it had not been unblocked.
Breakfast choices good but the scrambled egg was the worst ever - a hard lump & not at all pleasant.
Friendly staff & easy check in/check out.
