Stayed here for one night last weekend and was pleasantly surprised at our room. Modern and clean with all the facilities we needed. Bedroom was a bit hot and stuffy but a small fan was provided. We were able to leave our car in the carpark and walk into town which was about a 20-30 minute walk. Overall a pleasant stay, good value for money and good location. Would recommend and stay again!

We made this hotel our go to place for the weekend while we went racing at newmarket. Hotel is in an ideal location, shops not far away and train station about a ten minute walk. Hotel looks a little worn, could do with some modernisation, but it's friendly and welcoming, the room was a little on the small side, curtains outdated and didn't shut properly, the bathroom was small and the sink Was smaller, you couldn't fill the kettle up, self above sink, was a bit bizarre as you couldn't reach it properly if your tall, staff are friendly and breakfast was conteintal, selection of cereals, bread cossiants, hard boiled eggs and cheese and fruit, yogurts which set you up for the day, would I return, yes I would.

Dear guest, Thank you kindly for your review of your experience of our hotel. We're happy to have been able to host you during your stay in Cambridge during your racing adventure in Newmarket - we hope it went well! As our building is from the Victorian era space is limited as well as where we are situated near the city centre of Cambridge. We're always looking for ways to improve the experience of our hotel and we're glad to hear feedback. We are currently looking at projects to improve our rooms further utilizing the space we have and ensuring our guests have the space they request. We're happy to hear you've enjoyed our continental (cooked breakfast is available too!) breakfast during your stay and we're always happy to chat with our guests and learn more about your journey. These stories always brighten our days and we're always happy to give recommendations where we can to enhance your stay.

The plus side is that this hotel is relatively inexpensive for Cambridge, has a reasonable location, and the breakfast server was friendly and helpful. However, for these advantages, you get a hotel that is fairly old and basic - the ensuite bathroom was particularly rudimentary, both in terms of condition and ease of use. The coronavirus pandemic was attributed as the cause for not getting fresh towels and a room clean, along with the limited range of breakfast foodstuffs, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Dear guest, Thank you kindly for your review of our hotel, We're always happy to hear feedback regarding how we're doing and how we can further improve our service. We always strive to make improvements where we can and we're always aiming for the best experience for our guests. The building our hotel is situated in is from the Victorian era, which makes space a constant point in this day and age. We can ensure that prior to check-in we perform thorough cleaning practises and our housekeepers are doing a splendid job. Room cleaning and fresh towels, tea and coffee sachet refills etc are all available upon request, but as COVID is still around, we still aim to keep guest and staff safety a high concern. We hope you understand and, should you wish to return to Cambridge in the future we would love for the opportunity to catch up.

Stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting friends. Fantastic location and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I can't praise then enough. The room was small but cosy clean and tidy. Perfect for our needs. The bed was comfortable and the room had all the facilities you would expect. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it will be our go to accommodation when we visit Cambridge in the future!

Dear Heather, Thank you for your lovely review. I am delighted to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are always happy to have a little chat with our guests and give advice and recommendations about what to do in and around Cambridge. It takes about 25minutes to walk from us to the city centre and there is a bus stop right next to the hotel with direct links to the city centre and the train station. Maybe on your next visit you could give our newly opened restaurant a try, we are offering authentic Chinese cuisine. We would love to welcome you back to The Imperial Cambridge Hotel when you visit Cambridge in the future.

I have rated this hotel 5 stars because the new owners are trying so hard to improve the reputation of the place. They are fully aware of the shortcomings they have inherited. The rooms are tired but they are spotlessly clean and the bedding is new. The staff are very accommodating and also truly interested in the feedback of the guests. They are working very hard to gradually improve the decor but Rome wasn't built in a day. With the recent ongoing restrictions imposed due to the virus, it will take a while to gather the finances to carry out any major improvements. What is important to me is that they are really trying. That the room was clean and the staff were all genuinely interested whether I was satisfied or not. We chose to dine in their Chinese Restaurant within the hotel and it was a very good decision. My husband informed me that the sweet & sour pork was the best he'd ever tasted. He ordered special fried rice with it and gave me all the meat from it. It was so tender it melted in my mouth. I had chicken and cashews which was also fabulous. We were offered a crushed mango dessert, I'd never tried it before but I'm very glad I did. It was delicious. They offer two menus, one is our typical westernised Chinese food and the other is authentic Chinese. Everything is totally fresh ingredients, nothing is pre cooked or prepared and I think that's what made the difference. The owner has chosen not to "China-up" the hotel nor the dining area as he says, he would like it to be authentic. He told us the Chinese people don't eat in restaurants that are covered in dragons and lanterns and that's not what he wants for his place either. Fair enough, I would have liked dragons though 🙃 Over all, I like this place and I really like the staff and their eagerness for us to have a good stay. I want to give a special thank you to the young chap who was serving and say "Don't worry, you're doing just fine." Lovely boy.

Dear Modo, Thank you so much for your wonderful in-depth review of our hotel and restaurant. We're always excited to be able to chat to our guests, and talking about future plans for our hotel always makes us even more excited for the future and where it may bring us. Feedback is incredibly important to us, and we love hearing peoples opinions as it helps us envision improvements and set better and accurate goals. We like to bring people as much choice as we can for the restaurant as well, and we offer both menus on a regular basis, these dishes are always prepared fresh and with utmost care. Thank you again for your stay with us and our chats, they were much appreciated and we hope you've had a lovely time in Cambridge. Should you choose to return in the future, we'd love the chance to catch up!
