Excellent location if you are visiting Cambridge for a couple of days on businesses or pleasure. Standard HIX rooms clean, comfortable beds, excellent air conditioning and a hearty breakfast. Bar is good at reasonable prices but it is cashless and no booking to rooms unless you are a IHG member. Car parking is £5 for 24 hrs. However, before you roll your eyes please be aware if you park in the city you will get no change out of £25 for half a day; Cambridge is not a car friendly city.. My recommendation is…arrive early, pay £5 for 24 hrs parking at the hotel then take the footpath 10 mins alongside the reservoir to Brookfields and take the number 2 bus into town for £2pp. Walking into town will take 45 mins or an Uber costs circa £12. Enjoy it’s a great location.

A clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. Our room, number 64, was spacious, had a huge bed, a beautiful bathroom and a sofa. Toiletries are limited to dispensers and there is no conditioner so would advise to take your own. Personally, I had a problem opening and closing the door, it was too heavy for me to deal with, I reported it to the Duty Manager who said that the closure could be adjusted, if I was on my own, I could never have hot in or our of the room. The only other comment would be to invest in some duvet covers that were actually big enough for the duvet, the one on our bed was obviously too small in the width. Breakfast is good, with a nice choice of food, coffee is as OK as you get from a machine and the restaurant was kept clean and tidy by friendly, hard working staff. Overall we would stay here again for the quietness and based on this experience. There are no shops, pubs, restaurants etc in walking distance so not a hotel if you want to walk anywhere. The staff are lovely. No electric car charging points in car park and non blue badge holders park in disability parking bays, the hotel duty manager promised to monitor this.…

Fantastic staff, very dog friendly, free breakfast. Well equipped clean rooms, all of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our dog even got a welcome gift bag. Cooked breakfast was free and delicious. Lovely paths around for walking and close by pubs

I don't know what to say about this HIE, it was quite expensive at £135.00 per night and then to be hit by a parking charge (£5) when I thought the receptionist said it was free was a bit of a pain. However, its a bed for the night and in todays world the rooms are not warm when you get in them, but to make the injury into an insult the heating was under centralised control - see photo. The room was clean, shower was not one of the best and the WiFi was ok. I always ask for more milk because I like milky coffee and the receptionist did me proud and got me many milk sachets - thank you. The breakfast was ok, limited and low end products, but adequate. So would I stop there again, yes, it was a standard HIE, but the charging for the parking is a bit off.

Please avoid this hotel if you drive a car. I stayed at this hotel from 19th Oct to 22nd Oct 2022. They send me a letter a few weeks later，stating I need to pay the car park. However I did provide my Vechile registration number to the reception on day one while checking in. After I contacted the hotel about the parking fee，the hotel agreed to cancel the parking charge，which is evidenced by hotel‘s confirmation email. several month later，the hotel send letter again，stating they seperate the company with hotel car park. They need charge car park again and now they want 170 pounds for the parking penalty. What a terrible hotel. How can they treat customers like this way.

Usual hospital over night. Arrived early as I emailed to ask if this was OK. We like to spend time in Cambridge. To be told yes that's fine but pay your parking. Parking never paid in the past, even this site still advertises its free. Its exactly 24hrs so a bit over and another £5. Why not just your stay like other IHG Hotels. That's a bit of a ripe off. In the past my husband has checked out and sat at the hotel during covid times and has been very accommodated by staff. All that aside. The check in was great and our room was ready early. Breakfast was busy, but constantly being refreshed. We may now have to consider finding somewhere else to stay over. Such a shame.

Beware, they have introduced car parking at this location. If this was not bad enough for an out-of-town hotel location, a guest cannot just add this to their bill and has to go and pay separately for this. I was told, "it's because it is a separate company" but that is no excuse, the hotel owner made the decision to do this. So a traveler now has to carry out a separate transaction, get a separate receipt for this rather than simply having it added to their bill. Makes you wonder why some hotels don't realise that regular travelers want CONVENIENCE. Therefore not to have to check in, then go and separately pay to park the car. Two colleagues and myself used to regularly stay at this HI Express but we switched to the Cambridge West one a few months ago. I thought I would try this one again but now they have introduced a charge for guests to park AND have to do this separately I won't be staying here again. To repeat, it was the hotel's Management that decided to a) introduce car park charges and b) make it separate from the main bill so why they are blaming the car park company is truly baffling. Comfortable room with good facilities, and the buffet breakfast was good too, lots of choice and not too busy. Special mention to the bartender who was really friendly and did well on her first shift behind the bar. Good location for us to get a taxi into Cambridge.

Started her on a Friday night en route to Stansted for a family holiday. We had paid 14k points for the night. Disappointed in the £5 parking charge which seems like an unadulterated money grab. My daughter and I had a twin room facing the railway, the noise of some trains was noticeable. My daughter found her bed comfy, I didn't. It felt very hard indeed. The breakfast in the morning was good.

Cheap. Easy to find. Plenty of parking. Convenient. Polite, attentive, hard-working reception staff as you would hope and expect. But it was dirty. The carpet clearly hadn't been vacuumed and one pillow had hairs on it! Breakfast was very basic.
