We eat here regularly, never stayed over but the website treats me as if I had, have done now for several years, always great food, nice setting, interesting building, isn't expensive, I really like the place. Cant really recommend a dish as they are all good but dates in bacon is a must!

As we've hear lots of good reviews for this pub we decided to have an afternoon lunch during the xmas period. We chose from the 3 course menu, which we thought was good value. Food was very nice, the pub is quite old inside, only downside was we were freezing, didn't seem to be any heating on & we were...

There are two areas to review The Anchor Inn on TripAdvisor. I used one to review our stay after the first day, without knowing at the time that it was to get worse and really didnt deserve my four star rating! After the housekeeping staff told us our room wasnt ready 1.5 hours after we were given the key we...

Eaten here a few times and always very good food. Perhaps a little overpriced, but really a minor quibble. Service is friendly and helpful, nice uncomplicated wine list, would recommend to anyone in search of well prepared modern British with a French slant food and a relaxing/country/romantic experience. The surroundings are beautiful and you can often have a chat with...

Two of us went here on a Monday night, in spite of the menu looking rather expensive, as many restaurants in the area are closed on Mondays. The goats cheese starter was lacking in substance with rock hard tostados and the dates in bacon looked meagre. My lamb rump was nicely pink and a hearty dish but my friends partridge...

We visited the Anchor on a Sunday lunchtime for a long lunch, it was a bright day and we were able to walk along the river afterwards - much needed after eating a really generous meal. Food was fantastic; we ate dates wrapped in bacon as a starter, roast beef and trimmings, and a great pint of beer to wash...

We were in area for a walk with family looking for pub lunch on a Monday. Prior to eating we thought the lunch menu looked a little more costly than most pubs but was great value for food of that quality. We had 2 course set menu appetiser and main and everything was fantastic, we would definitely go back.

Typical Sunday lunch food. Starters were better than the main courses. Service was good and staff were polite. Overall was a nice meal in a nice pub that you can get in most villages. Not sure if I will remember it in a few months though.

We had dinner here around mid September, while staying at a B&B a short walk away. Lovely, welcoming atmosphere, excellent food, very good service. We had a very enjoyable evening and would definitely recommend.

“There's only a few rooms - the New Bedford suite overlooks the river, and the Riverside suite overlooks a bit more of the river. One of the other rooms overlooks the river, and the other one doesn't mention river views, so probably faces away from the river. Basically, it's by a river.”

“The New Bedford Suite is like a mini self contained apartment (without kitchen although you do have a kettle and mini fridge). The bathroom is larger than an average hotel. I didn't see the other suites but apparently The Riverside is more quirky with low beams- prob more romantic but not so good for tall people perhaps?”
