St Michaels Resort is often celebrated for its inviting atmosphere and prime location, offering guests easy beach access and stunning sea views. While the rooms are generally appreciated for their comfort, some guests have noted issues with maintenance and noise.
The hotel's cleanliness and friendly service earn high marks, though there can be delays during busy periods. Despite the luxurious amenities, particularly the spa, which many find impressive, the value proposition is somewhat tarnished by additional costs and occasional discrepancies in advertised versus actual experiences.

Booked a garden lodge for last minute overnight stay. Lodge was amazing to look at and felt super comfortable. Lots of really great features- like bathroom area being able to be heated separately to room- we like a cool bedroom but love a welcoming warm bathroom area. The motion lights in wardrobe and toilet were simple touches but so useful. The outside seating area with beautiful landscape gardens and birds singing all added to make us feel super relaxed. The hydrotherapy experience was amazing too- been before and never disappoints. There were a few negatives for us - hence the 4 stars- we couldn’t get the outside heater to work - probably should have been checked prior to us booking in. Breakfast was not a 5 star experience- service was great, lots of staff- however charging for barista coffees these days is not on. We felt options were limited and Cornish breakfast was just warm- edible but not great. Overall though we would definitely stay in the lodges again.

From the moment you enter this resort there is a sense of calmness and that you are definitely in for a treat.
We visited to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. At the time of booking, I notified them of the occasion and Madi was very helpful in providing some special treats to mark the occasion (thanks Madi! 😊)
Our room was a great size with a stunning view out to sea. We then headed down for the 2 hour hydrothermal experience. Beautiful bliss! I am not sure how anyone could stay and not partake of this wonderful experience. The spa is clean with excellent facilities. We even enjoyed a cheeky cocktail whilst relaxing on the heated beds.
Back to our room to get ready for dinner. We enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail first - these are super and look so pretty in gorgeous glasses. We then enjoyed 3 courses of top notch, delicious food. The service was calm and efficient. Indeed, all the staff displayed excellent customer service skills throughout our stay.
A delicious Cornish breakfast followed a comfortable night’s sleep.
We definitely recommend this resort. I would also like to thank the whole team. You wonderful people ensured that my daughter had a truly special 21st birthday that she will remember always.
Now thinking about the next occasion where we can come and stay again…
Thank you St Michael’s 😊. Look forward to seeing you again soon!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I stayed at St Michael’s in Dec and while the weather was gloomy the welcome was beyond warm and sunny.
The one thing you will quickly realise is that every member of staff from kitchen staff, waiting staff, receptionists and managers greet you with a warm smile and are eager to help. Not only that they are eager to find out how your day went and check in to see how your day went. As an example the night manager had heard my son and I discussing a proposed trip to Padstow and when he came on duty the next night came over while we were having dinner to check how it went. It’s this level of friendliness that makes it an exceptional place to stay.
On arrival the delightful receptionist gave me a short tour of the main spaces before directing me to the lifts for my room.
The rooms are well decorated, the beds comfortable, the complimentary bathrobes big and fluffy with the largest bath towels in existence with a shower that is hot and has good pressure. The Whal hairdryer was super and the complimentary tea, coffee and water were replenished each day as required.
On the first night I found my room to be a little hot I mentioned it in the online feedback during my day out asking if I could be shown how to turn down the heating. Instead they moved me to a much cooler room. I didn’t expect this and it was really appreciated.
My son studies in Falmouth so he joined me every day for breakfast and I paid the extra £20 which was certainly worth it. The food is amazing from delicious yoghurts, granola and fruits, pastries, make your own pancakes and waffles to the hot service. Our breakfasts were made fresh to our requirements and were delicious. Little touches I loved were homemade bread and butter in butter dishes rather than little packages. The ethos of sustainability is alive and well. That and being seated so we had views of the sea really added to the holiday atmosphere.
I had dinner 2 nights of my stay. Nourish the less formal pizzas and Cornish tapas was lovely. I had the Cornish tapas which were tasty and reasonably priced.
I had dinner with my son in the Brasserie on another night. This was out of this world. It was certainly Michelin level if not adjacent. I am still dreaming about my beetroot starter. It’s £42 for 2courses or £50 for three and it’s certainly worth every penny.
I didn’t use the spa or health club but suspect they would not disappoint.
Parking was free once you registered
It is expensive or rather you could find cheaper places to stay in Falmouth but I wouldn’t make that mistake. It is worth every penny. I felt like royalty and I’m already saving up and booking my next visit. It’s the first time I really didn’t want to come home after a hotel stay.
Now to persuade my son to do his Masters in Falmouth!!!

We stayed at this spa hotel these last 4 days for our anniversary and to be quite honest it was probably the worst ‘spa’ hotel we’ve stayed in. All the staff were so friendly however so I cannot fault them they were exceptional and made the stay worth while. Firstly, on arrival of this hotel the car park is very tight and bizarre. Got given our room key and we did pay for a cheaper hotel room which bearing in mind it was still almost a grand for 4 nights and our room was on the smaller side and with a small bathroom. The room was over looking a work site which was noisy in the mornings so couldn’t relax and have a lie in. The corridors and the rooms were like a sauna so hot. We had our room windows open the whole time we stayed and on our last day the room was just starting to be at a good cool temperature. The room has no fridge either which in summer how are you suppose to keep drinks cold if your room is that hot it’s warming up the drinks we bought. Breakfast was okay the pastries from the buffet style part were stale. People who were getting seated after us were getting served their breakfast before we had even ordered our food they kind of missed a few tables out. I sent in a request for a massage twice and didn’t hear back from them at all so I could get a massage at a ‘spa hotel’ bearing in mind you still have to pay £80 odd pound on top of the money you’ve spend on a room. Also you have to book a time slot for the hydro pool and only get 2 hours to relax in there. My partner used the gym and said it was very busy. The hotel is in such a lovely location right across from the beach and looks beautiful from the outside so it would be a phenomenal hotel if the parts inside the hotel was improved.

Hi Sam, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay with us at St Michaels Resort. We are so sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially during such a special occasion as your anniversary. While we are pleased to hear that our crew's friendliness and exceptional service made your stay worthwhile, we regret that other aspects of your visit were disappointing. We apologise for the issues you encountered, from the car park and the room’s size and view to the temperature and lack of a fridge. We understand how these factors can significantly impact your comfort, especially during the summer. We are also sorry to hear about your breakfast experience. Your feedback regarding the Spa is especially concerning, as we aim to provide a relaxing and seamless experience for all our guests. We apologise for the lack of response to your massage requests and the limited availability of the Hydrothermal facilities. Your comments about the gym's busyness and the overall potential of our beautiful location are noted. We appreciate your constructive feedback and will utilise it to make the necessary improvements. We hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with the exceptional experience that so many of our guests have enjoyed. Please drop me an email at lewis@stmichaelsresort.com at your earliest convenience, and I will personally ensure that we make amends. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. Lewis

Absolutely fabulous 1 night stay at St Michaels and I wish I'd booked to stay longer! The staff are so welcoming, check in was easy, and the room fabulous. In the room we particularly liked the tea and coffee making facilities which were kept in a drawer using Cornish products, and also included fresh milk. The bathroom was stunning with a huge walk in shower, and again Elemis products available to use.
Included in the offer was 3 course dinner & breakfast - the food was superb using quality produce! Breakfast was like nothing I've experienced before, with a cooked option, and numerous stations with continental items. I particularly liked the pancake making facilities.
Whilst visiting we also used the spa facilities which again were fabulous value for money, especially with discount on booking a treatment due to staying at the hotel! We made use of this and booked a massage each. Again this was simple to do online.
We'd definitely like to return for another stay - everything felt so luxurious, booking was easy, and I liked that the hotel kept us informed with updates from booking to our arrival, which was when I noticed the offer for booking a treatment in the spa!
Thank you everyone at St Michaels.

We booked a weekend away for my husband’s birthday, and were given a beautiful room. It was really spacious, with an amazing sea view. He received a lovely card with a couple of drinks vouchers which was a very thoughtful touch by the management, thank you 😀. On the Saturday afternoon, the hotel had booked a lovely singer to sing out on the lawn, and a chef was cooking up a great barbecue lunch, it was so nice to sit and relax in one of the deckchairs provided, while listening to the songs, enjoying a drink from the outdoor bar, whilst the sun was shining. What a great afternoon! The hotel has a great spa and a separate health club with an indoor pool. We didn’t need it as we had such amazing weather and we could go swimming in the sea on Gyllyngvase beach which is just opposite the hotel. The beach has very clean soft sand, and the sea is very clear and child friendly. There were lots of people swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding and generally having a really good time in the sun. There was a beach yoga session on the Sunday morning run by the hotel health club, which looked amazing! What a fabulous weekend, would fully recommend a stay at this hotel😀😀

Great Hydrotherapy session with my friend. We went a few months ago & with the 2 for £50 offer it's not bad. This time we decided on ordering some Cocktails but it's Cashless so just be aware of that ! The Passion fruit Martinis were well made but order before 7pm for the offer ! 2 for £15. The second visit we both commented was nicer than the first, I guess because we knew what to expect. The Salt Room / Rainforest room are both amazing. Shame the barrel sauna wasn't working. Found parts of the Hydrotherapy pool I didn't try last time that were great for my bad back. The products in the changing rooms are the cherry on the cake but I have very sensitive skin and the Apricot Cleanser sort of stung a bit. The Moisturizer they have is amazing but I keep forgetting the brand !!!
Ile definitely go back.

I had stayed at St Michaels a few years ago and was very excited to go back with my partner but unfortunately there were a few things that let it down. So, the location is obviously great and the view would be perfect if that giant ugly block of flats wasn’t in front of it. The staff were lovely, cocktails and breakfast was all great. HOWEVER. It is not good value for money. Everything is very expensive, we have stayed at a lot of nicer resorts/hotels/spas for quite a lot less money, embarrassing. Because of the building work next to the hotel we got £140 (20%) on our room to spend, we had dinner one night, one session in the spa, lunch the next day, a cocktail each and still had to pay £120 when we left so all of that added up to nearly £300 ONTOP of what we had already paid just to have a basic room? Unless you’re loaded you don’t need to be paying that much for a spa hotel. To start off, our room was very basic, no decent size table or storage for clothes, a tiny chair, very bright clinical lighting, we really wanted a nice break but honestly did not want to chill in the room at all, it was uninviting. Walls are thin, can hear everyone and when the couple next door used their remote control it was controlling OUR TV haha. We went to book our time in the spa only to be told you have to bloody pay £40 each for two hours.. it just isn’t made clear when you book it, we paid £650 for 3 nights in our room mate we should be getting the spa for free! There is another “wellness centre” over the road but it’s like a Lidl version of the main spa. £40 each when you’ve paid to stay at the hotel though is a joke, they also call it Hydrotherapy treatment.. it’s just spa, it’s a nice spa but chill out. We had dinner the first night and my Mrs had the brownie for pudding, it was cold but came with ice cream? I dunno it just seems like it should have been a hot brownie with cold ice cream? And my sticky toffee pudding was dry and not very sticky. Overall the food was good though, we looked forward to breakfast every morning. Our room also was hot af, I nearly threw up the first night but we didn’t want to keep the patio doors open incase a weirdo snuck into our room. Air con absolutely needed! And to add that generally the standard of cleaning was not great in our room and throughout the whole place - not horrible but NOT a luxury vibe… It’s not all bad, it’s a nice vibe, cool location and we had a nice time. I just know we could have got a nicer hotel with better value for money! Live and learn.

Overall this place is average, for the price you pay you expect to be amazed.
I would like to start with the positives, the bar staff are lovely and really welcoming. The reception, bar and restaurant are all beautifully decorated and has a very expensive feel but the rest of the hotel feels like it’s been forgotten.
We booked the classic double room, room 16, it was very disappointing. Extremely hot, small and dark, there is no fridge, the milk was. Complained to reception, we were moved rooms but it felt like we were a real burden, no apology, we would have expected maybe a complimentary drink. We were told to leave our belongings in the room and they would move it all to our new room while we went about our day. We came back to collect key to the new room, no belongings were there, had to go to reception to ask, the lady was lovely and went to get them for us, but after feeling disappointed at first the least they could do was make sure everything was sorted before we got the key.
More advertising is needed as the “spa” is an extra charge, and when we went to book a space we were met with a very hostile response “it’s £40pp and we don’t even have any space left” we turned around and walked out again. You have access to a swimming pool that is open to the public, it’s cold and not very luxury feeling. There is no proper hot tub, just a part of the pool that bubbles cold water. The changing rooms were awful, mould in all the showers and the floor is filthy (picture attached).
Breakfast is chaos, when you are seated you are asked whether you would like tea or coffee, but you still have to wait 20 minutes for you to actually get it. The cutlery is very budget, canteen like. When we asked for some clean ones to eat our hot breakfast we were told “we have no clean ones”. No cup with saucer which I think is important in this kind of hotel. The continental selections are poor and rarely replenished, 4 empty butter dishes just left all over the side, so couldn’t butter our toast and when I asked for some more I gave up waiting.
Overall very disappointed with the amount we paid and the service we received. Very average experience for luxury price. Will not be returning or recommending.

We stayed for a few days over our daughter's 21st birthday an we really cannot fault our stay at all. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff who were so friendly and always happy to chat. We arranged for balloons to be put in our daughter's room for when we arrived as a surprise and in addition to the balloons, the staff had left a birthday card for her with 2 complimentary cocktail vouchers to use in the restaurant/bar which was such a lovely touch. The food was just outstanding! From breakfast, to dinner the food was fresh, beautifully presented and you never felt rushed to finish your meal. We were served most nights by one of the waitresses Teigan, all the staff were fantastic but in particular Teigan always had a smile on her face and was always happy to have a conversation with you, and was just overall a delight to be served by.
The facilities were amazing and the decor was beautiful. And of course you can't forget the stunning views out over the gardens and Gyllynvase beach. Everything was so clean and beautifully presented and even the little touches like housekeeping coming in every day and ensuring your room was clean and the tea and coffee station being topped up, and any requests you had were always met.
Everything about St Michaels resort was just fantastic and we really had the best stay during the time we were there. We will definitely be coming back again! Thank you to all the staff for such an amazing stay.

The hydrotherapy pool is very good value at £ 40pp for 2 hours. This includes 3 different saunas, a Rainforest shower, an ice shower and the outside jacuzzi + barrel sauna. As well of course as the pool. There is no discount when booked whilst there.
We did not use the free main pool, so we're not aware of any sauna. Hope that helps!
Good evening,
