We had a wonderful two night stay at Penmorvah, our room was pristine, modest and comfortable. The staff we're very friendly attentive and accommodating nothing was too much trouble. An ideal location in the countryside, a convenient distance from Falmouth centre and also some seaside walks.
We really enjoyed wondering around the lovely, well kept grounds in the mornings after a tasty cooked breakfast. I would highly recommend a visit.

We had to cancel our wedding party 2 years ago due to Covid, our guest list went from 150 to just 2 of us so we have been planning a long overdue party for a long time and I'm so glad we chose the Penmorvah!!! Neil sat down with us several times and delved in to my mind of 'no idea, haven't got a clue' theme 😂. He took over the planning and prep from us and gave me great confidence he would do a great job for us. The day couldn't have gone any better. We had afternoon tea for 34 people which was absolutely amazing - the cakes and éclairs in particular were UNBELIEVABLE!!!! We then had approximately 100 people to our evening party. Your staff were chilled, professional, friendly and welcoming to all of our guests, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The patio area out the back is absolutely stunning and I would encourage anyone reading this to just go and look its beautiful. We also stayed 2 nights in your rooms which were very comfortable and breakfast was good with yoghurt, juices, toast etc available to help yourself as well as cooked breakfast. The Penmorvah is run by Peter and Carol and you deserve to do great business it really is a gem. Neil, you just know you do a fantastic job don't need to tell you 😎 Thank you to each and every one of you for making the sun shine and looking after us so well ❤️ xx

A gift voucher from our daughter and family for afternoon tea, and what a treat we had! Choice of sitting inside or out on their lovely Sundeck, which we chose, as the weather was beautiful. Comfortable with stunning views. We were given choices of Tea or coffee. Fresh handmade sandwiches, lovely, homemade cakes, including meringues with fresh cream, strawberries and raspberries, fruit cake, and brownies, and homemade fairings! And the lightest tasting scones we've tried with plenty of strawberry jam and clotted cream! More than enough for my husband and I, but not wasted. We were offered anything left to be carefully wrapped up to take home ! (Finished in the evening!😋) Afterwards, we walked around their well maintained and kept gardens, surrounded by mature trees and shrubs, in beautiful lawns, with stunning views. Well recommended and deserves a 5 star plus! Many thanks, and we will come again.

We stayed for several nights and ate dinner every night. The good points are position of hotel, grounds, garden and sea view. The outside terrace was great. Breakfast was very good but buffet had little choice. Lounge and reception also positive..but.... dining room is too dark and needs new carpet and painting as it is something out of the 1970s. Please get rid of the terrible art on the walls! The corridor to our room was grubby and in need of painting, no lights to switch on. Our room was classed as superior.. what? No way is it a superior room and not worth £170 per night. Dreadfully stained carpet, very dark room, outdated furniture, small tv, and bathroom in need of immediate updating to 2020! Older guests are unable to use shower as can't get in and out of the old fashioned bath safely. A shower these days is not a hose stuck on the wall from mixer taps! Tea and coffee provided but no biscuits. The menu changed daily but pork belly repeated in the space of 3 days! Food was very good quality and well cooked but every course took far too long to get out of the kitchen;usual wait was 30-40 minutes!! Staff were fabulous and we felt for them having to take the flak for the long waits and errors in orders. Breakfast highlight was the porridge which I had each day it was so good. Cooked breakfast was very good but had to wait for toast for 10 minutes by which time my eggs were not so hot. This hotel has the potential to be 4☆ and just amazing but needs injection of money quickly to update it. Popular with dog couples but I doubt any would return. I hope the owners will act on this so we are able to return in the future. As it stands, won't return until updated.

After booking what looked to be a lovely cottage stay didn't actually turn out like it. Yes we got an early check in but as the week progressed we learnt things where not great. The cooker handle fell off, periodic hot water from the combi boiler, screws for the stair case protrude by an inch at head height, management replied that he's not seen it in 20 years. Door latches not working properly, toilet seats loose, no reach bar for bathroom windows in the cottage so the room would steam up. Gutters overflowing when raining due to debris buildup. Dodging falling slates from opposite cottage. They advertise free breakfast if you book a room, so knowing we had a cottage we realised we needed to pay which was fine. On the menu it gives resident and non resident prices. Thinking those who stay at the hotel get theres free as advertised. Waitress suggested we would pay resident prices was wrong and got charged non residents price of £17.50ea and not the £7.50 we got told. total RIP off for a cooked breakfast. That didn't come with toast and had to order that separately. There wasn't enough orange juice for our party and didn't get re-stocked for the duration of the meal. Unsure why you'd have boiled potatoes with a breakfast either!. Outside play equipment could do with some maintenance. But the thing that got me the most whilst walking the grounds twice in the early evening was seeing the hotel burn all their waste, bottles bear cans plastic and cardboard is not ment to be found on an unattended fire in the wooded area. Are you trying to dodge paying for waste collection? Also having a tradesman turn up with management without prior notice asking to come in without a mask wasn't clever.
All in all the place has potential to be good but needs a rescue plan to save it. Lack of maintenance and blaming it on not having Maintenace staff isn't the best excuse.
Tips, provide your cleaner with a Maintenace sheet were they can note down defects whilst cleaning the properties. Don't burn toxic products. Employ a grounds man that can maintain the grounds and remove last years fallen leaves.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay helped by perfect weather. The setting and sun terrace was lovely but unfortunately our accommodation was a little disappointing. We know it is expensive to upgrade but basics like kitchen appliances, pots & crockery could have been so much better. During lockdown I think some work could have been carried out on these cottages. The bathroom was very tired, musty and grubby we bought bleach to put in the toilet, sink and shower. All the windows needed a good clean and the creepers cut back from the windows.

Sadly we were very disappointed with the cream tea here. At £10 ahead the scones were so small we barely had a few mouthfuls and they were gone. Loads of cream and jam wasted as not enough decent size scones to put it on. Very bad value and for the extra pence it would be to make a decent scone seems crazy and then all the cream and jam gone to waste it was then money down the drain. I do not understand the reason behind this. The scones were lovely and staff could not have been nicer but not sure what the hotel are thinking. I would not recommend for a cream tea as very dissatisfying. The coffee was nice.

We booked this hotel for a 5 night stay as our main holiday abroad had been cancelled. We were not disappointed at all. The hotel staff and owners were friendly and helpful, printing off bus timetables and directions. Due to the pandemic, room service was not available but if you required a change of towels or bins emptied, you left these outside your room and it was seen to quite quickly. The food served was delicious and of a very high standard and I made sure we booked a couple of evening meals. There is plenty to see in the area and it’s great for long walks and exploring. I would definitely stay here again.

Originally we booked for two nights but enjoyed the hotel so much we stayed for another two. Richard the manager was absolutly superb and without exception he and his team went above and beyond what we have ever previously experienced at a UK hotel.
The hotel is situated in a very quite location with easy parking and large open gardens that outlook the surrounding countryside, Maenporth Cove and the sea.
We are already looking forward to a return visit before summer.

We stayed at Farrier cottage (second time with our lively border collie) and took breakfasts & some dinners in the hotel. Do not miss these gorgeous breakfasts! We were well looked after by the excellent staff and had good service at mealtimes.
We enjoyed the splendid grounds and attractive planters & borders. There is a glorious view SE towards Maenporth beach, and there is a pleasant circular walk through the trees to complement the well kept front lawn. Everywhere in the hotel were nice touches like lovely flower arrangements.
Highly recommended - we’ll be back!
