The ship inn is a welcoming Cornish pub situated in the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole. With stunning views of the sandy beaches or stormy waves The Ship inn is the perfect place to refresh & chat to locals, or snuggle up in front of the open fire and read a good book. We also have eight beautiful bedrooms (located within the pub and the cottage next door) for that perfect weekend getaway, family holiday or overnight stay before travelling to the Scilly isles. 'There are few things more pleasant than a Cornish harbour graced with a good pub and great ale'

Excellent accommodation, hospitality and location. The rooms (I stayed in the ground floor sea side cosy in the cottage as well as a first floor double above the pub) are extremely comfortable and spotless with lovely linen, towels and toiletries. The views from the accommodation are unique with the window seat and harbour view from the first floor room being particularly wonderful. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the start and throughout the stay. I enjoyed the breakfast very much with the buffet and the cooked breakfast being beautifully presented. I also enjoyed the evening meals I purchased from the bar with these being excellent quality and good value. The pub is a great place to relax after the hours outdoors with it being spacious, low beamed, with a fire and a great choice of drinks alongside the food menu. Many thanks to the staff who were so lovely throughout my stay and I do hope to see you all at The Ship Inn again.

We stayed in the premium room overlooking the harbour which had fantastic views.

Positives - the room was very clean and very comfy. The bed was great!! The room was cleaned and replenished daily. The breakfast was great as was the evening pub food.

Negatives -

- The room was VERY cold when we arrived. Clearly it hadn't been occupied for a few days/week. We had to heat the room ourselves and stay in our coats for a few hours until the room warmed up! It would have been nice if the room was pre-heated for us, especially as it was January and freezing outside.

- The windows are only single glazed which does mean the room does get cold/drafty in Winter but the radiator was pretty good in keeping the room warm. It also meant all noises outside could be heard including the reversing noise of the bus what felt like every hour in the early morning!

Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely return but just a few points you'd expect to be covered when you're paying ÂŁ200 a night for a room (like the heating)

The location was perfect. The accommodation was first class. The staff were friendly and helpful. But the restaurant was a joke. Whilst the food we had was ok, they were in the process of changing menus. This meant at least half of the choices were not available with no back up. The staff looked embarrassed every time someone asked for a dish only to be told that it wasn’t available anymore. My wife had Hake and new potatoes. Two tiny potatoes - she was ok with it as she hasn’t a big appetite. I would have sent it back. However, another customer asked for this dish and guess what, they were told that they didn’t have it anymore. But the kitchen was still preparing hake and chips. My guess is they’d run out of new potatoes!!
When you pay ÂŁ370 for two nights accommodation you expect the associated restaurant to be of a higher standard. Sadly not. We had booked a meal for both nights but cancelled the second one and went elsewhere locally. That meal was superb.
St Austell - you need to have a better plan for when you decide to change your menus. We won’t be returning.

Hi Cornwall-blue, Thank you for taking the time in leaving us a review, It's lovely to hear that you mentioned how friendly the staff had been, we really pride ourselves on delivering great customer service. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have the best experience when dining with us, we was going through a menu change at the time and there was a few items that we didn't have on the menu so I am sorry that this effected your table. It's a shame that you didn't think the hake was enough if we would have known on the evening we could have rectified it for you. We will take all your comments on board and will improve for next time so that it doesn't happen again We hope you do return and try us again Many thanks Ship Inn Team

We've loved Mousehole for quite some time now and decided to spend Christmas there this year. Despite unknowingly arriving on Tom Bawcocks Eve when The Ship was exceptionally busy (standing room only!) nothing was too much trouble. This continued throughout our stay. We were there four nights in all and cannot fault any element of it. Louise welcomed us and despite everything going on in the pub at the time she made sure we were shown our room (personally) and slotted us in for something to eat that night.
Our double room was clean, comfy, bright and airy and overlooked the harbour (what more could you want!). Our room was checked and replenished daily which was appreciated.
We were looked after by Lisa during breakfast at the start of our stay and it was a pleasure. The menu catered for all with a choice of meat, vegetarian and vegan cooked breakfast options, along with the continental style breakfast buffet which was well stocked.
All of the staff went above and beyond on Christmas Day. It all ran seamlessly from our perspective. It wasn't rushed, the food was excellent and more than enough to see us through to the next day!
We had a wonderful stay and can't thank all the staff enough, we will be back.

WE "bookended" a 4 day trip to the Scilly Isles with stays at The Ship before and after our trip. It took the pressure off flogging down the M5/A30 wondering if we would make the plane from Lands End (which was delayed anyway) and meant that we could also fit in visits to St. Michael's Mount, the Tremenere Sculpture Gardens and Trewidden, all of which are nearby and well worth a visit.
We had warm welcomes from the friendly staff, the room and bathroom were very comfortable and well equipped with great views over the Harbour; the dinners were excellent and the breakfasts were the perfect start to each day. On Friday, there was live (but not too loud) music in the bar and the atmosphere was great and very welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit.

I had read the reviews before booking but even those don’t do justice to this fantastic pub and accommodation. From arrival to leaving we were treated to superb customer service and care from all of the well trained and happy staff. The position in the harbour is spectacular at this time of year when brewing storms make you grip your beer even tighter and marvel at the power of the sea. We were in room 5 and it was better than most 4/5 star hotels, spotless, looked just decorated, tasteful and above all so comfortable with magnificent dual aspect views up the harbour and out to sea. If the bar hadn’t been so welcoming we could have stayed in the large comfy chairs in room 5 and watched the world go by! Food was very well cooked even if by their own admission a little limited as stocks difficult to get during pandemic and at this time of the year, but we were very well accommodated with a couple of items not on the menu, so very helpful. We will be back soon, not soon enough…

We just returned from a great couple of nights in this proper Cornish fishing village, The Ship Inn excelled in ambiance and welcome, staff couldn't do more for us, we were nervous given the lifting of Covid restrictions, but upon arrival we felt relaxed and assured the guys were doing all they could to look after clients, all normal procedures were in place.

The Ship is set upon the harbor side (couldn't get much closer!!) Parking could be an issue but we never found it a problem, finding parking on the harbor wall each day and a good price ÂŁ3 for 24 hours!! parking is about 5 minutes walk away through the narrow streets, (I mean narrow)

Once inside the Ship, you step back in time in all the good reasons, no commercialism, flag stone floors low wooden beams the works.

The bedrooms look like they have recently undergone a refurbishment and really well done, crisp and modern with everything you would expect, we has a harbor view and it was well worth the extra cost, to wake up, look out over the water (or sand depending on tide) was great.

Have to mention the shower!! wow I don't think Ive ever stayed where the shower was so powerful, excellent and so welcome, Ive stayed in 5 star hotels where you can hardly was the shampoo out but at the Ship the shower will was you hair out !!! just brilliant.

Breakfast was excellent, as was the evening meal, Fish n Chips best we've had for a long time.

Overall I would highly recommend The Ship Inn, and were looking forward to returning soon for another stay,.

Highly recommended

Thank you Ship for making our stay so welcoming

We enjoyed our 4 night stay, all of the staff are lovely, and the food was excellent. We stayed for dinner too on two evenings. Great location right on the harbour front, such a pretty village. Our room however was small and at the back of the building, it was quite expensive to stay here, so we would have expected a larger room, there was also a bit of noise from an extractor fan out side the window.

We had a great 3 night stay at The Ship Inn enjoying great food, hospitality and service not forgetting the fabulous views from our very comfortable and well appointed room overlooking the harbour and Mounts Bay.
We have stayed at The Ship on a number of occasions, although this was our first visit since 2019, and are never disappointed. It's a great place to stay in a lovely village and have already booked a return visit in September to enjoy the Cornish hospitality and scenery.
Thank you to every member of The Ship team in making us so welcome.

Three wonderful nights at the Ship Inn, can't recommend highly enough. We stayed in Room 5 Stargazy, which had a beautiful double aspect view of the harbour, a very comfy bed, super power shower and big fluffy towels and robes.

Lisa on the front desk and the staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient in tending to guests. Breakfast delicious with a good selection and the food in the evening really good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with walks to Larmorna and Newlyn and the local frequent bus stops right outside - a nice car free break.

Definitely will visit again - Thank you!

There is a car park next to The Coastguard Hotel just before you drive into Mousehole on the right hand side of the road. You can then walk along the road into the village or leave the car park at the back near the cafe - there are steps which lead down to the water front and the path takes you to the North car park. The Ship Inn is on the opposite side of the harbour but it is a matter of yard away.s This is easier than trying to get into the North or South car parks as the roads are very narrow. Its nicer without traffic going through the village too.
