Our room was surprisingly massive and very comfortable. The views are stunning! The evening meal was exceptional and the staff and the service was faultless. However, I do have a pet hate which is one of my life's irritations..... and that is the shelf above the basin, when you have a wash you bang your head on the shelf, like I said, it's a minor thing but we're still looking forward to eating here again.

Fantastic place, amazingly friendly and helpful staff from the moment we walked in. We took full advantage of the pool and steam room, our sea view room was reay good, also lovely and warm to take in the view from the huge windows. Breakfast was good, great choice and offered a vegetarian option when choosing hot food as we didn't choose meat obviously, nice to be offered and no trouble at all. Overall a great relaxing escape from home and parenthood for us both, we will return, most likely with the kids.

We have just got back from a brilliant few nights. I was a bit apprehensive as it isn’t the normal type of hotel I’d stay in- we have never taken the children to a hotel before and therefore never experienced a ‘child friendly’ hotel before. It seemed quite good value compared to other child-focused hotels I looked at so I was worried what the catch was but I needn’t have worried- it was brilliant. Yes, it is slightly dated- brown carpets in rooms etc and a pretty unattractive building from the outside (these are probably the only giveaways that it is 3*) but it was spotlessly clean everywhere and the pool was very warm. My daughter is very fussy about pools and she loved this one- praise indeed. Food was delicious. Staff were all very friendly and helpful- nothing was too much trouble. Lots of entertainment for our toddlers- ball pit, zip wire, beautifully maintained wooden outdoor playground and maze, amazing ship playground, fun indoor fair ground games. It was very quiet when we went which was fantastic- we often had the pool to ourselves. We had a room in the main building which was great as we were close to everything, it was on the first floor and had funny privacy plastic stuck to the lower portions of the window so you couldn’t see out when lying in bed and you couldn’t see out of the children’s windows except for the top few inches. I wonder if second floor windows would be better. Overall, a fantastic stay, will certainly recommend and hopefully be back.

We spent four days and really appreciated the very uncomplicated approach of everyone from the Sands Resort team. No matter if it was a room upgrade or spontaneously changing booked timeslots for breakfast and pool, everything was made very easy for us. Thats what you really want from a hotel, we loved it. The location is perfect for sightseeing in Cornwall, every single interesting spot is not more than 50km away. Newquay is obviously a top spot for surfing hence we spontaneously asked for help arranging a surfing course for our kids (11 and 7). The next morning they were at the Watergate Beach with the coolest Surf School (Ticket to Ride) I have ever seen. Sands Resort has so many to offer for kids and families, a huge outdoor area with pool, tennis court, football, labyrinth, etc. We are considering to spend some days during the summer as well. Talking a walk along the seaside is what you definitely should try, its in fronf of the hotel.

Previously we had visited the Bedruthan for kids holidays and had been 5 times but....after reading about how the Bedruthan had downscaled it's family friendliness we decided to go for Sands....and we were not disappointed. We went for Oct 2022 half term and we had a wonderful time. The staff we excellent and the service / help offered was second to none. The bedroom layout was perfect and the kids soon got to exploring the wider hotel. Overall it was a lovely holiday and we really enjoyed the stay.

Brilliant hotel for a family stay with well set up family rooms, small swimming pool, soft play and some entertainment options in the holidays. We added dinner so really convienient in the evenings, only thing is portion sizes for younger children could be adjusted to avoid waste. My only gripe, which is a preference thing.. slour stay ended over a week before Halloween. The hotel was covered in decorations and all entertainment options were Halloween themed. We are not fans of this occasion and were surprised how unavoidable it was so far before the event. E.g. Sunday had a clown act but the accompanying staff member was dressed as a witch. As a suggestion consider Autumnal events at the beginning of half term and then decorate for Halloween nearer the time.

The location was a perfect base for our family to explore Cornwall. It was about an hour from Lizard Point, St. Michael's Mount/Land's End and Tintangel Castle. It was on top of a hill and our room had a view of the sea. Breakfast included was a huge plus! Made our mornings really easy! We went during the October half term, so it was lovely that the resort had Halloween activities set up during our stay. In addition, the soft play, swimming pool and the hut with games were a huge hit for our toddler! The room itself was fine. It was great to have a separate space with a door from our bed vs. the toddler room. However, the toddler space was also right by the front door, so it made it difficult for me and my husband to leave the hotel room after my toddler went to sleep, ie., if I wanted to use to spa while my husband was in the room. Beds could have been a little more comfortable.

We keep returning to the Sands Resort because you really can’t fault it for an affordable family getaway. From the staff who are friendly, efficient and knowledgable to the children’s facilities on site - indoor and outdoor pools, soft play, evening entertainment, play areas, bouncy castle, need I go on? There is plenty available to keep the small humans occupied and the baby listening service in the evening allows adults a welcome bit of p&q. The busy road is one downside but otherwise the location is great, the beach being in walking distance and a short coastal walk to watergate bay. It’s a shame that the booking system is still in place for the pool and that it’s not possible to book more than one table in the evening (ie children eat early and adults return later) but the hotel is very flexible and food from the takeaway menu can be eaten in the children’s entertainment room (or outside in the warmer months) which means us adults can go for dinner later on. We’ve been three times now and wouldn’t hesitate to return if we want to go to this part of Cornwall.

Cannot fault this hotel or the staff. Clean, comfortable, very pleasant staff, great for kids. We ate in the restaurant every night, whilst a little pricey the quality and quantity was excellent, so worth the money. The room, with a separate area for the kids (s), provides both parents and kids with a little breathing space. I have stayed in expensive hotels on business in London, Hong Kong and beyond, and sure, they have more facilities such as concierge, room service, etc, but that's not the point of this hotel. It is an excellent family hotel, and we will return.
