Detailed Reviews
The location is great - walking distance to town and train station. We got into Penzance from Reading and we arrived at night. It was an easy and safe walk to the hotel. The people were very helpful. Our room was facing the sea and it was a great view... we could see St. Michael's Mount from afar. The breakfast was pre-ordered the night before so that they are prepared in the morning with social distancing measure in place. They people were great!!

We were put in the Honeymoon Suite because the hotel were unable to provide the accommodation we had originally booked during lockdown time. This was a lovely double room with views across Mounts Bay and St Michaels Mount. As this was our 55th anniverary we were very pleased. From the beginning everyone was very friendly, due to COVID our room was not entered by staff while we were there and we were allocated our own dining table. The food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner, things were busy and you had to be patient for dinner service but this was understandable. They kept proper tracking records and I was impressed with their care to keep customers safe. A very enjoyable 6 night stay!

Lovely hotel on Penzance's promenade, it was perfect for our bank holiday getaway. The staff is very welcoming, the room small but clean and perfect for a few days. The decor is cute with a nautical theme throughout the hotel and adjacent restaurant.
There is parking next to the building, but it's quite small and we easily found parking on the main road in front of the hotel. The breakfast included in the price of the room was more than we could have expected and delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good value for money in Cornwall.

Such good value, we took a side room and it was good as there was no early morning noise and curtains were great at keeping the room dark. Lovely lady on reception to check us in, friendly cleaner and the manager knows his job inside out. The location is right on the front and within walking distance of most attractions. Thank you.

Excellent service and food in very trying times. The quality and freshness of everything that we had on the two visits we made were very very good. We had cod and chips on the first visit. The chips were really crispy and not fatty. The batter on the fish was equally crispy and not soaked in fat and the fish tasted really fresh. The second visit we had ribeye cooked to our request and was perfect. The salad served was very fresh and had a light dressing. What I really liked was it was all served on very hot plates which so many restaurants fail to do these days. Definitely go again and will make sure I book their rooms rather than where we had stayed.

+1
I can't recommend the food enough. There is plenty on the menu...something for all. We absolutely loved the seafood, portions are a really good size and definitely value for money. Staff are all brilliant. Every single one of them were friendly, down to earth, always smiling and went out their way to make us feel comfortable. I hope you enjoyed the cake we left for you guys. Omg the desserts are to die for, we had to have a cheeky take away on the desserts, wish we took more with us. Thank you for making my birthday meal special. Can't wait to visit you again.

We always spend the weekend at the Lugger when we make our annual pilgrimage to see the Pirates play rugby and reacquaint ourselves with beautiful Cornwall. Hotel is an excellent centre for exploring Cornwall. Located centrally on the bay with a stunning panoramic view of St Michael’s Mount and right around the bay. Many rooms with large windows overlooking sea view. Great for watching the weather which was rather spectacular during our stay. I recommend the Sunday carvery with especially wide selection of vegetables. Excellent value. For quite a big hotel the atmosphere and service are very down to earth, friendly and personal. Staff and management went out of their way to help us on several occasions with little things like ordering a taxi for us to the station when they were all busy with the school run to make sure we got our train, and bigger things like keeping the kitchen open so we could eat after a long, greatly delayed train journey. My room was cheerfully changed on request. Nothing wrong with the room. Down to my mobility issues. I paid only for a small room and was transferred to a much bigger room with no extra charge.
One negative which might apply if you have mobility issues. There are no ground floor rooms, no lift, and the stairs beyond the first floor are steep and not straight. Help with luggage is available but might be worth mentioning when booking. My room was on the second floor and had a bath with a shower over which I couldn’t climb into. On request, they moved me to a bigger room on the first floor with a large walk-in shower at no extra cost.

We booked this hotel for August 2020 and the hotel was extremely helpful in moving the overnight booking to this August. Having said that, I allowed the hotel to keep the money for the year. It is a busy place with an excellent menu specialising in seafood and Italian dishes. Good beer. We had a very large room overlooking the sea. The negative is that in spite of telling the hotel of our expected time of arrival, we had to wait several minutes before being allowed to go to our room. I appreciate that it was a busy evening and no doubt there are staffing problems but only when my wife went to find a female employee who was very helpful were we able to complete the information required to register. This was disappointing.

This is a very solid 3 star hotel. The rooms (honeymoon suites) at the front are very large with two bay windows. You can lie in bed and watch the sea, or sit on a sofa and watch the sea. Bathroom ok, but noisy electric waste water pump and a not very nice smell. Restaurant ok for cheap family meals and food actually very reasonable. Parking is a pain; they say there are 4 spaces onsite (but everyone blocks everyone else it). On promenade parking is free - IF YOU CAN FIND A SPACE. So reasonable all round. Central for other attractions. Great sea views from room.

We stayed at this hotel just after they reopened following the Covid crisis. We were warmly welcomed by friendly staff and stayed in a room with a magnificent view of Mounts Bay from St Michael's Mount to Newlyn. The bed was comfortable, with an en suite shower and toilet, and was well furnished. They do an excellent breakfast and the evening menu was surprising in the depth of the menu and the quality of the food. It is essentially Covid safe.
The hotel is run by the lovely Lesley and her partner Dave, and Steve is front of house. We plan to return next year! They have some limited guest parking, which may be needed at busy times as the free seafront parking can get full.
