Ryan the manager was very helpful throughout my stay, I was able to leave my bag as I arrived on the sleeper.
I am gluten/wheat and dairy intolerant, I was able to have a full English breakfast including bread and even a dairy free spread , perfect.
The rooms are basic but functional, I had a single which was fine, a bit tired but was a great price. There is also a separate sitting room area of you don’t want to sit in your room or the pub.
They also have a private cinema and show nightly movies, whilst I stayed I was able to watch a movie all by myself so was fab, it’s free.
I would definitely stay again is I were in the area
The hotel room was clean and tidy. Unfortunately I got unlucky with inconsiderate guests - staff were great at accommodating my request to move rooms and helping to source out where noise was coming from. Whilst this did put a bit of a dampener on my stay, staff did absolutely everything to help and this must not reflect on their excellent service throughout my stay.
Thank you for great food and service.
Booked breakfast one morning and asked for same time each day after but could not accommodate as said was fully booked but when leaving for work at that time each day, not a soul in the restaurant for breakfast.
Booked 1 night for evening meal but very standard for price so ate in spoons up the road which was better quality and much cheaper and also macdonalds breakfast each morning as not able to fit us in as a staying paying guest all week.
Staff were pretty rude and definitely lacked customer service. The rooms were dated, dark and smelt musty with black mould on ceiling and felt like a bedsit.
Would never stay again or recommend.
Always like to support local businesses when travelling for work but very undeserving and such a shame and will be taken off our company's list of accommodation for future bookings.
If I travelled and paid for leisure, I would be completely gutted with parting with my own money for this stay as was quite expensive compared to others at £89 per night with no breakfast included.
Not sure how this business is going to survive unless they action.
The positives: The location is excellent; two minutes’ walk from the train station and bus terminal and at the bottom of the main shopping street in Penzance. The staff are brilliant, but rushed off their feet poor souls because they cover the restaurant, bar and hotel reception. There is a kettle in the room and the staff will provide you with tea, coffee, milk. The food is good and reasonably priced, as are the drinks.
My wife booked this accommodation as a weekend break following an operation I had 2 weeks previous. My wife booked us a room either double or twin with harbor view,on arrival we found that we did not have the room we booked even though we had written conformation of this.We were put into a back room with no view and cupboard comes to mind . My wife went to the reception and complained , she was told by either Todd or Ryan as he gave myself and my wife different names . there was nothing he could or would do as he had not arranged the booking. We could not eat in that evening or the following evening even though we were resident , being told the restaurant was full even though there were tables for eating set up in the so called bar area. The bar/so called lounge area had no relaxing seating, all was set up with tables and chairs like a restaurant/cafe so we could not sit have a drink and relax. We had to go out to find somewhere. The breakfast was good but you had to book a time slot to eat so there was no flexibility in the morning as to how you felt. In our room the main light which was directly above the bed when switched off glowed a bright green all night making it hard to sleep also on occasions there was a noise like a motorbike , this would go on for up to 2 mins poss central heating or water. At our age we have traveled all over Europe and world wide also when working I preferred Hotel Inns but this is the worst I have ever encountered. I would not recommend the Longboat to anyone looking for a relaxing stay. Photos I have attached are of the green light in our room, sign going in stating no food and the terrible seating area in the bar/lounge
