Detailed Reviews
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this premium hotel and was given a warm welcome
by Doug the owner who runs the place to a very high standard. The place is spotlessly clean and immaculate inside and outside with great attention to detail from pillows and bedding to cutlery.
Our accommodation was on the third floor which was beautifully decorated, spacious and perfectly arranged and with a great view and with all the modern amenities in the room made available without asking for it. We especially loved the bed which was comfortable, crisp and beautifully made as well as the ceiling fan which provided much relief in the high twenties heat.
Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to chat with Doug as much as we would have liked but we enjoyed listening to the history of the place and he was spot on in his recommendation of places to eat in the area.
This is a nice place to stay on your holiday and it comes highly recommended.

Higher Faugan Parc seems to us quite unique and it is difficult to imagine a more beautiful place to stay. Our room is spotlessly clean, very inviting with an extremely comfortable bed, the large room is furnished in keeping with the lovely building.
Higher Faugan is set on a hill at the top of Newlyn and when looking out of the windows of room 7 you can see the lovely grounds surrounding the building and views across Mounts Bay.
Doug and Wendy, our hosts, ensured a warm welcome and superb breakfasts in the room - cereal, basket of breads/cakes, fresh fruit and much more - and also dealt promptly with the request for gluten free food for me. Eating breakfast in our room also works wonderfully well in the current Covid situation. Everything is refreshed daily and is of very good quality. We are five days into our seven night stay and really don't want to go home. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough and we will return.

Our stay began with Doug greeting us at the front door and showing us to our room, which was immaculately kept. Upon checking in we asked for an iron which Doug brought to room and was really helpful in doing so. The grounds surrounding the hotel itself are lovely, which is also perfectly situated near Mousehole and Penzance with plenty of nice restaurants close by.
We stayed in a a suit which had a big comfy bed and well stocked kitchenette, with pastries, fruit, yoghurt and juice for breakfast.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this to other couples looking for somewhere to stay whilst exploring Cornwall.

It’s a nice quiet location down a long drive a fair walk into the centre of Newlyn (especially returning up the hill). Room was spotlessly clean, but not much of a view and power cables running outside the window. Breakfast in the room is adequate although it is all sitting there (including prepackaged croissants) when you arrive. Would be nicer to have it delivered in the morning. All in all it was OK but for the price paid nothing to write home about.

Thanks for the positives, overhead power lines are beyond our control and not an issues with most guests, our breakfast contents are fresh and it is essential they are packaged, as they should be anywhere in the current crisis, its a very simple process to arrange them to look exactly as our website pictures of what is provided https://higherfaugan.co.uk/index.php/breakfast/ Glad to hear we are "OK", unfortunate and disappointing you don,t appear to appreciate we welcome you into our Home at great risk to ourselves, so you can get away from yours.

+1
We stayed for three nights this week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The room, bathroom, establishment in general was very clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was provided as self-serve in the room. Good and plentiful choices of cereals, breads, orange juice, jams, yoghurts, tea, coffee fresh fruit, plus pastries. These were topped up on a daily basis. I am vegan and was concerned that I would have to find my own as the information stated that those with special diets were welcome to bring in their own (or similar wording). On arrival I found there was plant-based milk, biscuits, cereals, yoghurts, spread for toast; I was well provided for. My partner is not vegan and his choices were well provided for too. The setting is lovely. Be mindful that the drive is 0.4 miles if walking, it's a pleasant walk. It’s sited at the top of a steep hill from Newlyn town, we are not particularly fit, we managed to walk it. On an evening out on a night where there was high demand for taxis, Doug spent time finding a taxi for us. He found a firm that arrived promptly. We had not intended to stay in a self-serve establishment but this was a better experience for us than we had planned. We could get up and eat at our own pace. There is a tv in the room and plenty of sockets, a hairdryer, plenty of space to hang clothes. There was good practice regarding Covid measures (masks, cleaning, hand sanitiser). We would stay here again.

Higher Faugan Parc is a truly exceptional residence. Other hotels with luxury messaging could well take note of the attention to detail, cleanliness and excellent accomodation put together by the impressive Doug , Wendy and Luke.
Our room felt like a 5 star residence with excellent fittings, exceptional decor and a strong homely feel. The room was cleaned daily to high Covid standards.
Sarah and I will certainly be returning next year and use the fantastic location as a base to explore the surrounding area.

A lovely property tucked away in large grounds. The room was spacious and well equipped for all our needs. Douglas the owner was so helpful and arranged for us to change our dates several times due to unforseen circumstances.
A lovely breakfast was in the room for us to have at anytime and ample facilities to make a small snack/drink if required. Very nicely furnished with quality furniture and comfortable bed.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting that area of Cornwall or the Scilly Isles as you can also leave your car safely st the property for a small charge.
Thank you Doug we hope to return in the near future.

Extremely peaceful and high quality rooms. We stayed in room 3 and the vista from the window was gorgeous! The night sky was beautiful and was the sun rise out to Newlyn.
We enjoyed how quiet the room was and nobody bothered us so it was easy to settle and appreciate the privacy .
Having some basic breakfast items in the room suited us ok and we didn’t feel obliged to have to be social in the morning or take up time which we instead chose to spend having a lay in.
Doug was very kind to us and seemed hands on and very proud of the standard of his home, he has a lovely pond and guest are able to go and and spend time there. The area is signposted.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to read ALL of the website information!!!!!!! The house is a PRIVATE property and the owners are very clear that this is their stance.
In this day and age we are so used to being able to roam hotels and guest houses that we can sometimes forget the personal space and personal awareness preferences of others!
Curiosity is a natural human trait, especially when we see something as enchanting as this place. There are strict rules that the majority of the inside and outside is out of bounds and that the offering is for a suite only, there are not common lounges to go and read for example.
As long as you are happy with this and understand the proposition then you will have a delightful stay and bliss out in the gentle energy of the set back location.
If you are feeling energetic and mobile then the walk down to the harbour is invigorating and stunning.
Thank you for a lovely stay

My partner and I were visiting during the pandemic, and were lucky enough to stumble across this place online. Struggling to find a location near enough to Lands End, St Michaels mount and Mousehole this popped up. So lucky to have found this! It was great value for money within walking distance to Paul, Mousehole and other locations. Plenty of room, great views, and a lovely ensuite. The host was professional, welcoming and ensured our stay was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone, and hope to be back soon.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday with a 2 night trip to Cornwall. We wanted a country accommodation (outside of Penzance), but with easy access to St. Michael's Mount, Minack Theatre, Lands End and Mousehole. Higher Faugan Parc is a beautifully kept manor down a long lane, quiet, with nice gardens, and only about 5 minutes from Penzance. The host Doug met us when we arrived and helped us identify a lovely nearby farm/pub called The Kings Arms in the village of Paul (it was so good that we ate there twice). The accommodations were clean and quiet. The breakfast options were awesome and were available inside the room for consumption at any time. Best of all, we could come and go as we pleased throughout our 2 day stay.
