The Yacht Inn was built in 1936 and was originally designed for local gatherers who would often walk in, still dripping with salt water to grab a pint of our Cornish lager! Yet, we are here 88 years later still going. The Yacht Inn offers 7 en-suite rooms some of which facing beautiful sea views and the spectacular saint Michael's Mount. We are situated just a minute walk from the seafront where you can enjoy views of Penzance promenade and the very popular Jubilee Pool. Let’s not forget about our big beautiful beer garden where everyone is welcome, it is a perfect place to sip back your drink and relax to some of the wonderful Cornish sunshine while browsing our menus which offer a range of different types of locally sourced food! While in the winter, we know sitting outside is not the one so why don’t you come inside and enjoy a nice cold pint near the our fire place and our comfy sofas.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for two nights in march,we had a room with a sea view, the room was very clean and comfortable with tea/coffee biscuits supplied.
We had breakfast each morning which was good tasting and plentiful, you had a multiple choice of cooked or continental. We also had our evening meals here which were priced well and tasted good,a good selection of beer and larger and wine.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the locals were very friendly.

We are currently staying at this place. We arrived last Monday. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room is wonderful with a great view of the sea. There were fresh daffodils on the windowsill. We have had breakfast and evening meal here every day and the food is excellent, really well cooked and presented at a very reasonable cost. And they do smaller portions on some of the main courses for less money though even this size is not that small! They also have a lovely open fire. We arrived by train and the hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the station. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Penzance and would recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable accommodation at a reasonable cost.

Stayed her for a couple of nights last month. The hotel is very handily situated for the town of Penzance being not far from the town centre, ten minutes walk from the railway station and practically on top of the ferry terminal.
We had a reasonably sized room at the corner of the building with one window which overlooked the beer garden and the other with a good view of the sea and Jubilee Pool. We were able to see the Scilllonian III coming and going. There was plenty of room in our accommodation for two aged seamen to stow our gear with two very comfortable beds.
Breakfast was good but the quantity varied each morning as there were different chefs on duty. Service we found to be good and the staff we encountered were polite, cheerful and helpful.
There were however two little niggles. On returning to our rooms after a day out on the first day we found that the hospitality tray had been replenished but the beds and rest of the room was as we left it in when we went out with the beds unmade just straightened as we had left them. The rubbish bins hadn't been emptied either.
The bath room was of a good size with a deep old fashioned bath and over-bath shower but we did find that the bath was curved in the bottom and was quite slippery and dangerous when wet. Also it took an extremely long time to get any hot water from the taps.
On the first morning we went to breakfast and there was a table ready for us with our room number on it but on the second morning there wasn't. Upon enquiring why not we were told that they hadn't been informed that we were there for breakfast - a mistake which it transpired was made for the following couple that came into the room. A table was swiftly prepared in both instances.
Would we stay there again? Yes - despite the slipups. The room was comfortable and the food good and reasonably priced.

What a lovely weekend! I chose the Yacht originally for its location when deciding on a place to stay with friends for the weekend, having passed it several times whilst we took a break previously at another hotel on the promenade.
What a lovely surprise to discover this little gem tucked back off the main road.
The rooms were quite basic, but immaculately clean and tidy, having had a fresh coat of paint by the look of it. Of course the views from room 5, 4, 3 are exceptional over the sea and the jubilee pool.
Breakfast was hearty and delicious, with mackerel cooked to perfection and the sausages with the full breakfast scrumptious. Rosie and the others were so attentive and gave us the best mornings before we set off for the day.
Housekeeping excellent. Thankyou Kiah.
We were a group of 8 altogether, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, hospitality, cleanliness and home comfort in the Yacht Inn. We have most definitely decided on the success of our first weekend away as a group, it’s a repeat opportunity in this welcoming Inn.
Thankyou all for a very memorable stay.

We were both disappointed with The Yacht Inn, having read the reviews. The rooms are above the restaurant/bar so there is always some noise. The bathroom was pokey with no heating at all, so towels remained damp throughout our stay. We left the towels in the bath one day, as the supposed method of getting new I.e. dry ones, but the room wasn’t cleaned.
Shower was very slow and it took ages for any hot water to come through. I gave up timing it after 2 minutes. The smoke detector on the bedroom ceiling was held up with masking tape, see image.
The whole place smelled faintly of grease, and was generally shabby.
At breakfast, very limited choice of cereals, and only one cooked option. It was hit and miss when someone would come out to take your order, something that other guests complained about. Also, no decaf coffee!
For the money, very disappointing.

Hi were sorry for your experience, we have just taken over this place in February we are working our way through a long list of repairs, the smoke detector was the old one which needs to be removed as through out they has been upgraded, we are also replacing all shovers, our plumber is starting tomorrow. We do offer decaf coffee so Im not sure why you didn't receive any. Our new breakfast menu is now in place we offer fresh cornish mackerel, along with a full Cornish Breakfast of local produce, we only use Cornish Meat plus avocado, halloumi and full vegan and vegetarian options. I'm sorry this wasn't made clear to you. We are a traditional Cornish Pub and there is not a lot we can do about noise, we do make that clear at point of booking. thanks for your review, we will address all of these issues.

We needed a couple of days away with sea views. We chose the Yacht Inn, Penzance. There wasn’t any private parking but there’s a car park only yards from the inn, at a sensible price.
We brought our 2 dogs as they’re dog friendly. Our room had views across the bay, perfect.
A good stay. Our only request to the inn is to put a Healthy Option on the breakfast menu, it’s so easy to offer Eggs &. Spinach or Eggs & Kippers or with Smoked Salmon
We don’t eat fried foods but was that or nothing.
Our other request to the inn is to please offer decaf coffee that’s drinkable. Good Quality Coffee doesn’t cost much more but a healthy breakfast with good decaf coffee that would have been enough for us to have returned.

I called to book a table for a meal whilst recently staying in Penzance for a holiday with my partner, Dad & Step-Mom.
Due to Covid etc many places were booked up- but when I called The Yacht the man who answered said that the night we wanted to come was quiet so I booked in for the four of us including our dog.
On being shown to our table there was a large group of around 16 young people (all sat together) swearing and what looked to be playing dominoes. The place echoed the loudness and we knew that having a quiet, relaxed meal was out of the question!
We were all shocked that groups of six were certainly not adhered to at this establishment. We asked to be moved but only alternative was a table right by the door and the noise from the large group still overshadowed a great deal. Needless to say- we left and managed to get in at the Dolphin nearby. May I add this was totally different, a beautiful and relaxing meal.

This hotel must be the worst place I've had the misfortune to try and sleep at.
Paper thin walls, we could hear the man snoring in the next room, even the sound of his flatulence could be heard in our room.
The springs in the mattress were as flat as a pancake, the most uncomfortable bed I've ever experienced.
The noise from the bar was unbelievable, cars pulled up at 2am and people were arguing with others, swearing and shouting. Deliveries were made were early in the morning.
No air-conditioning or ventilation, except for the windows that opened a few inches, the door on to the balcony was locked with no key.
The owner/manager was vague and unapologetic when faced with the problems.
We were offered a paltry £15 reduction for all the problems we had.
Awful hotel, terrible management, please save your money and stay in a better run establishment. Total waste of money.

well well what a terrible review of which you threatened if i didn't give you all of your money back, i gave you £180 back so i don't know why your lying about that, Im sorry that the thickness of the walls are thin but are nothing that i can address right now, we have just taken over and are addressing all issues and problems, you threatened another guest for snoring, you had my young member of staff in tears, were sorry that people were in carpark opposite that really is not in our control, the balcony at the moment is out of use as the railings are too low but we are putting in planning to sort this out. you were so viscous, rude, no understanding, you were hanging around to see the guest that kept you awake, i thought i was going to have to call the police really why stay above a pub on a busy promenade if you want quiet. I was very apologetic but nothing would a appease you, you were definitely not a person that wanted to be appeased with apologies about things that weren't even in my control. absolutely disgusting.

Our room number 2 was nice and good sized, unfortunately it is next door to the owners accommodation and this really let it down. We expected noise until closing time as its a pub, but we did not expect it to be the owners waking us up late with their TV blaring and their dogs barking and squeeking toys. I had to get dressed to go and ask for the tv to be turned down. On day 2 we could hear the owner on her phone swearing and talking about staff and rota's On the 3rd night I was woken by smashing glass, swearing and again the dogs barking from their room. I think the room would benefit from a fan so that when its hot we could of closed windows to minimise the noise from the owners windows. The cleaners and the guy at breakfast were friendly and helpful. The rest of the establishment is seriously in need of a refurb which I believe is happening slowly. The breakfast room/reception is very tired and you have a lot of old kitchen equipment infront of reception yet it is still in use to get your room key from. The hotel is perfectly placed for penzance and beyond. This was our 3rd cornwall hotel the most expensive, but by far the worst. We felt the owners presence was poor and just generally didn't feel that welcome so we left a day early. I feel it has great potential it was such a shame.

Very pleased with the seafront location. Easy walk along the prom right to Newlyn or the other way to the quay and also a direct walk beside the Yacht Inn up to the town centre.
However parking in public 'pay' car park unless you're very lucky to get in a side road.
Our room was spotlessly clean and tea and coffee replenished daily.
Selection of cooked breakfasts was good and cooked to order but cereals VERY limited. On two mornings only Cocoa pops or bland fruitless muesli ( with no kids seen during our stay). Also evening food on offer was buffet style pasta / pizza which looked a bit sad after being out in the warm server for a couple of hours so forced to eat out.
