Detailed Reviews
This beautiful boutique Victorian b&b is a hidden gem on a delightful prestigious road just opposite the park entrance. A quick walk through the park and you are in Penzance town.
The attention to the interior decoration is tasteful and a true reflection of the period property.
However the most important and most impressive parts of staying here are the hosts so kind and welcoming. The rooms are spotless and furnished in an intelligent and sympathetic decor with a super efficient bathroom.
The bed linens and mattress are of high quality providing a fresh and comfortable sleep.
But it doesn’t stop here the breakfast is very hard to beat. The fruit is fresh, each plate is individually created and the cooked plates are chosen from a menu but with amazing additional plates which you need to pre order for the next day and are a culinary delight.

We stayed nine days in this beautiful Victorian house and garden which is just opposite the entrance of Penlee Park. It is very peaceful but nevertheless you can walk to the centre of Penzance in less than ten minutes. Philippa is a very hospitable lady and we felt like at home. Her breakfast was just wonderful: fruit salad, home made jam and marmelade, toast, pancake....whatever you like :-)
Philippa gave us valuable advice which places to visit, i.e. Porthchapel Beach.
This was our first trip to Cornwall and certainly not the last one. Thank you for everything, Philippa :-)

Another great stay at Venton Vean, our fourth time. Philippa and David are excellent hosts, always kind and helpful but never intrusive. We were very impressed with their Covid safety measures, which clearly have been well designed whilst still maintaining the calm atmosphere. Our room was again immaculate, uncluttered and relaxing. One of the highlights of Venton Vean is the surprisingly extensive choice of breakfasts. As ever, highly recommended.

We had an absolutely brilliant stay at Venton Vean, a beautifully maintained period property in an excellent location in Penzance (right by the beautiful Penlee Park). The breakfasts were varied and delicious, and the standard of hospitality and recommendations from Philippa throughout our week-long stay were wonderful. We will definitely return to Venton Vean - it makes a wonderful base for exploring this area of Cornwall!

We recently stayed at Venton Vean for 4 nights, returning last Sunday.
Firstly, I must mention the beautiful Victorian house which is set in a conservation area opposite the entrance to Penlee Park. Close enough to walk to the seafront, yet far enough away in a leafy quiet area to feel peaceful and quiet.
Beautifully, thoughtfully, and very tastefully decorated with period, vintage and contemporary pieces. There seems to be an object of interest wherever you cast your eye and Philippa is happy to share stories of her collection. It really is a place of interest as well as a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay.
The breakfast menu is second to none. Such choice with their 'everyday' menu as well as their 'speciality' choices. My only disappointment being that We weren't there long enough to sample every dish!
Philippa is a lovely host. Very accommodating, friendly, and helpful with eaterie recommendations as well as places to visit and explore.
My Husband and I will be revisiting, and for anyone who is reading this review deciding whether or not to try this place out, I urge you to go for it! You certainly won't be disappointed. Just be prepared to gain a few pounds in the process!

We stayed at Venton Vean for four nights over the August bank holiday and could not recommend it more if you’re looking for a wonderfully comfortable BNB experience in Penzance. The food that Philippa and David provide is excellent, all locally sourced and lovingly prepared. Make sure to try the special breakfast options and if they happen to offering dinner - do not miss it! The rooms are all beautifully decorated and very comfortable. They are conveniently located to the centre of Penzance as well as other great spots. Really, you couldn’t ask for more.

We spent a lovely few days at this excellent B&B in Penzance. Our room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the large en-suite (Room 3) was a dream. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Breakfasts are freshly prepared and plentiful and there is an excellent choice. Evening meals are also available and we can’t recommend them highly enough. We will be back!

Penzance is a good base for a visit to south Cornwall and this beautiful, well-run B & B is a good choice for accommodation. Enter through a lovely garden to an historic property decorated with tasteful, contemporary touches. Rooms are serene and spacious, with many thoughtful features. Breakfast, efficiently served by gracious host Philippa, is generous and delicious, expertly prepared and offering ample choice. If you arrive by car, there is ample street parking. Highly recommend!

Venton Vean is a lovely house, kept spotless after being redecorated in subtle Farrow & Ball shades. It’s in a peaceful area of Penzance opposite the entrance to Penlee Memorial Park, five minutes by taxi from the station and ten minutes’ walk through the park to the town centre.
We were warmly welcomed by Philippa who had previously recommended places for dinner (book well ahead). Her own breakfasts were superb with quality products from local suppliers.
We appreciated having fresh milk in the room. A minor drawback was that it got hot during the day and the winter duvet was uncomfortable.

Although the weather might have been cooler than we expected for August, there was no doubting the warmth of the welcome at Venton Vean, provided by Philippa and David. This B&B has been a firm favourite with us for several years because the rooms are beautiful the food is superb, and the hospitality is unrivalled. This time around, we took advantage of the offer to have dinner for two nights - something new for Venton Vean - and both meals were delicious. We have no hesitation in recommending Venton Vean when you stay in Penzance.
