Myself and two friends stayed here for one night. One double and one single room. The double room was large and cosy. Our bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep with nice clean linen. The furniture was dated but it just added to the character of the hotel. Unfortunately the bath was quite chipped in places. The single room had damp stains by the window. The stair carpet was stained and grubby and needed a good hover. I loved the bar area and the attached dining area which looked more up to date. The breakfast room was a bit dire. It was dark and grubby and the tables had old stained varnish which rubbed off and was sticky like an old pub bar. I attempted to clean our table but my wipe stuck to the table and wouldn't move! Crisp white table cloths would have made a massive difference at a low cost. The cooked breakfast was very nice although not hot, the staff were very helpful and friendly even though I was cringing a bit feeling the environment was grubby and not hygienic. I would visit again but would not eat here unless the breakfast room was completely revamped.

This hotel is moderate. The rooms are clean but on a slant, due to the century that it was built. The breakfast was delicious, but they need to organise a bit better, as they ran out of sausages the last morning we were there. However, the Staff are exceptional. Excellent Customer Service. We asked to be moved to a room with a shower and we were instantly allocated another room. You can ask for more tea, coffee, toiletries at no extra charge, any time . If you need your room cleaned etc...you have to let Reception know in the morning, otherwise it will not be cleaned. This is probably due to the present clime. I would stay there again, just for the excellent Customer experience!

Stayed here on 24th September, all in all ok, breakfasts were lovely and dining in the pub they gave huge portions. Feel the rooms let it down slightly as they were very basic. The bed was comfortable, the tv only had some of the channels working and the WiFi wasn’t working. With 4G signal hit & miss I think they should’ve made more effort to get the WiFi fixed. Location was great right in the middle of the high street.

This was booked by my work, so I didn't realise that there was no parking anywhere near the hotel. After driving round the one-way system twice I eventually stopped and phoned the hotel to ask. The harbour was suggested as somewhere to park. There was a large car park at the harbour and was free to park when I was there (arrived in the evening, and left early morning). From there it was a short but arduous walk uphill to the hotel.
The only staff member I saw (had to go into the pub to get served) was polite but asked me to wait as he was serving food. They could do with more staff.
When he was back he gave me my key and told me about breakfast. I stopped him to say that I'll be leaving before 8am so wouldn't be able to have breakfast. I've just found out from the hotel info in the room that I could've asked for a continental breakfast for earlier in the morning. Unfortunately it's too late in the evening to order it now. I'm not sure why this wasn't offered when I said I was leaving early.
The room is shabby with stains on the ceiling. However, the carpet, towels and bedding is clean and there are individual shower gel, soap, shampoo.
My room faces the road and the window is single-glazed, so it's noisy, but there's probably nothing that can be done about that in an old building.
I'm sorry, but I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Trip to Penzance for my son to go back to Scilly. 8 hour drive from Blackpool to find that roads are closed at nights so couldn't park outside. No notification if this received by the hotel. Nearest car park was a 10 minute walk, not bad really, but very difficult as I'm disabled.
Checked in and was shown to the room. Very small and a tight squeeze to get around the bed to get into the room. Bathroom was tiny, the shower door was broken and no toilet roll holder. The beds looked like they had been slept in so a little off putting during this pandemic. The room was very dated and the decor was extremely tired. We did have a very good view of the sea though.
After our very long drive we wanted to grab some food and head up to bed for a good night's sleep ready for an early boat. They weren't serving food. Takeaways were not allowed in the room, but nowhere was allowing people to sit in. We got a Chinese and, to be fair to the staff member on, he said it was OK as no food was available. (We ate very carefully and took the rubbish to an outside bin before going to sleep).
Breakfast was served 8-9.30, however, with an early boat to catch, we didn't have time.
Rather disappointed with the whole affair, and would not consider it good value for money 😔

Very good location, though parking could be better. The building is old and in many ways quaint; however, the rooms, the bedding and furnishing s are looking tired and worn, furniture would appear to be a mish-mash of stuff cobbled together from the local charity shop, same with artwork. The staff varied from very friendly and helpful, to rude, abrupt, and couldn’t give a toss (in particular the older gent that looked like Catweazle in reception). On arrival no staff at reception or signs to guide guests to the bar. The barman who checked us in was monosyllabic and simply handed us a key without really speaking to us; however, the chef who appeared to be finishing was really helpful ang guided us to where we could park.
The woman at breakfast obviously missed her vocation as a traffic warden as she took delight in chasing guests away who arrived at (God forbid) 9:30 and 54 seconds ( breakfast finished at 9:30am. The young trainee at breakfast was great, very polite and attentive, those training her should perhaps follow her example. Wifi is free but only works in the bar.
We Checked out on time and was asked three times if we were in a different room, and were chased down the street by Catweazle yelling at us demanding to know if we had paid and checked out ( sorry both my companion and I are to fat, old and unfit to do a runner).
I have stayed in a hotels of all varieties all over the world, shortcomings and failings can be overlooked particularly if the person you are dealing with is nice and friendly. It is in the nice and friendly that a large number of staff need to work on, the hotel did not represent value for money and it would be with great reluctance that we would stay here again.

We booked 2 nights at a cost of £100 per night room only so expected basic comforts. Well disappointed would be an understatement. The hotel is a historic site but this shouldnt be used to mask basic cleanliness and comforts.
The carpets were stained with drips of liquid on them. The beautiful lounge had water dripping through onto the non hoovered floor.
Our bedroom was furnished with tatty furnishings, the bed was lumpy and so low to the ground it felt like you were escaping from a sunbed!. The only way to make it useable was to sleep on top of the duvet, even then a couple of hours sleep was a bonus.
Hot tap on night 1 had no hot water in fact it had no water at all. This improved on day two where slight water pressure allowed a shower to be used.
Radiator cap lay on the floor.
Bathroom was not clean,:grout was missing and dirty grout was in other places. Toilet seat was loose and the bathroom door didnt shut.
A positive was room 28 had a lovely view of St Michaels Mount.
Having stayed in many hotels around the world. I feel disappointed.
Keep scrollinhg dont book.

This is quite frankly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, and the staff agree.
On arrival we were given two rooms, which were not cheap.
One of the rooms was damp, musty and the bath was filthy, full of pubic hairs. The flooring was clearly broken and uneven and the damp was up the walls- evidenced in the photographs. Went to the reception to complain, and the bar man came up with tissue to fish the hairs out. No bleach, no cleaning stuff at all. This is unacceptable at any time but at the moment it’s dangerous as obviously not been deep cleaned for COVID. I explained how disgusting it was and he told me he agreed, he thinks it’s revolting himself and that the manager wasn’t here, he was in charge and he’s just the bar man, doesn’t know about cleaning. This was repeated all through the visit- no one is in here who is in charge and there is nothing we can do. Really cheap trick to leave the blame with no one to discuss it with and hate the think what would happen in an emergency.
We then went to the other room, which had just a bath. No shower or even shower attachment. No hot water. Had to ring the hotel from my mobile (no internal phone system) and the bar man told us he needs to light the boiler, no hot water unless he fixes it. So no bath or shower at all. This didn’t heat up all evening and I couldn’t bathe the kids as water freezing. Eventually went back to the other bathroom and water also freezing.
Met a couple on the stairs who were complaining that the towels in their room were dirty and used by previous guests.
I’ve travelled a lot and have stayed in many different places. This is the worst I have ever been to. The only reason we didn’t leave was because literally everywhere else in Penzance was booked out. I plan to submit a complaint to Cornwall council as I feel this hotel is unhygienic to the extreme. We got no sleep at all as the windows are thin and broken and it’s on a very very busy street. The breakfast was a joke- 39p cartons of orange juice and 2 slices toast between 4 people.

This hotel is in a great position equidistant between the station and the port. It is just up the road from the famous Admiral Benbow inn.
The hotel itself is very shabby - dark gloomy interior, and the breakfast room is accessed through a door which leads to 3 very dangerous stone steps with no handrail. The breakfast room is very cluttered with lots of figurines on every surface.
The bedroom was large, but the sash window wouldn't stay open, and the bathroom had no toilet roll or shelf to put wash bags.
There was no one at reception when we arrived at 5 p.m. so we rang the bell as instructed and nothing happened. We then went to the bar next door, where a rather offhand barman took our payment and gave us the room key.
Once we got to the room there was no notice telling us the WiFi code so I went downstairs to the surly barman who told me what it was. The WiFi worked in the bar, but as soon as I got back to the room the connection was lost.
Sadly this hotel needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to an acceptable standard, which I'm sure the owners don't have.

I stayed here on a motorbike trip of the South West in May 2021. The hotel is in a great location to explore the town and only a short walk a way is a nice view of the harbour.

The staff at the hotel were great and very friendly, the bar is cosey and a great little place to have a drink. The rooms could do with a bit of updating however they had only just opened up after lockdown when we went and there was work ongoing.

we had some minor issues with the room however the staff sorted it all out with no fuss. I would stay again
