Detailed Reviews
Some lovely touches in a gorgeous quaint location. We were searching everywhere for a room at 11pm and the kind gentleman gave us his last room at a great price. The room was the perfect size for a one night stay for 2 people. The bed was comfy, the pillows were exactly how we liked them (harder one on the bottom and super soft and squishy on the top) there were some lovely touches in the room, bathroom was impeccably clean also. Parking is a difficulty if there isn't any spaces on the road as they don't have their own carpark. The view from our window wasn't so interesting at all but for the last room that they had, we didn't mind. We were most grateful for our stay and would definetely stay again if we got the chance ! Thank you:)

It was our first time in Cornwall with our baby and we decided to stay at the Beach Club due to the great location overlooking the sea.
Our room had great sea view, very comfortable, thoughtfully decorated with all the amenities needed for a family with a baby. The staff were always friendly and attentive to us.
There is a lot to do in the area, only a short drive to St Ives.
The food menu was original and delicious, good selection of small plates and crêpes. If you like cheese then you must try the Goaty crepe! Would definitely return if in the area again :)

We had decided at short notice to spend one night in Penzance ahead of going to the Isles of Scilly. We have stayed in Penzance before but our usual choice couldn’t fit us in so we decided to try The Beachfield Hotel. The gallery of photos looked good and location was fine. On arrival we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff. One member of staff accompanied my husband to the car park and helped with luggage. Then we were taken up to our room. We had booked a superior sea view room but we had been upgraded to a Panoramic view room. It was delightful. Everything we needed was there and it was spacious with such a good view. We sat in the window and just enjoyed watching everything going on. The bed was comfortable and after a good nights sleep we had a very good breakfast. My husband had a full English and said it was very good and I had American pancakes with fresh fruit.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We’ll be using this hotel again when we go the the Isles of Scilly.

The lobby looks lovely and we were pleasantly surprised and looked forward to our stay. Then it went down hill. My partner didn’t realise he had booked room only (his fault) but breakfast was about £18 each which we decided not to do. The cosy room is definitely that. It literally fits in a double bed. The facilities are basic at best. The lighting was dingy, the bedding didn’t match and the pillows were an off yellow colour on a white bedding set which made it feel grubby. The bed was clean. Whilst mattresses are a personal preference this was really uncomfortable and felt well used - we didn’t sleep well. The light over the bed was dusty. The bathroom needed some TLC and I chose not to have a shower after seeing how grubby the shower head was and a few hairs in the bath. The bedroom felt like it just needed some love. The TV kept cutting in and out (multiple channels) - after calling down to see if they had a satellite booster or something that meant we could watch tv we were met with a rather unhelpful member of the team who did offer to come and look at it but told us even if he did there was nothing he could do. We were slightly concerned when we were told they lock the doors and you have to call a number to get in after 9pm - the reason for this was “security reasons”. Thinking about it I understand for maybe staffing reasons it did make me use the “do not make up my room sign” for the duration of our stay.
We had hoped to use this hotel as a base while we were here but actually did what we could to not be in the room which was a shame as the pictures online make it seem idyllic.

Paying £558 for two nights excluding breakfast sets a certain expectation, and unfortunately The Beach Club didn’t deliver.
Yes, it has been prettily redecorated in many areas but that is not enough to justify this price tag, especially out of the peak holiday time.
The bedroom has been redecorated. It’s a pretty and relaxing palette although with some odd choices of furniture (chairs that don’t fit under dressers) and omissions (no full length mirror or ironing board).
The main issues were the curtains did not extend beyond the window, letting light in all around the edges. There is also no voile/net/modesty blind, which can be a shock for passers by the busy road outside.
Also, the double glazing is old and does not block out the noise of the road traffic or seagulls that are nesting outside the bathroom window (so no opening that window either).
Finally, the mattress was two separate mattresses, not even zipped together; which was not the king bed as advertised and booked.
Bathroom had not been redecorated; it was also dusty and with musty smelling towels. No bathroom blind (although fixtures were apparent).
We had to prompt to get our room serviced.
Breakfasts were fairly priced at £11.95 each; and the food and drink was fresh if cool (the cooked buffet) and slow (drinks and anything al la carte).
Overall, it’s ok, but not at the price we paid. We booked direct via the hotel’s website.

Room Tip: As far as we could tell there was no lift, so accept the staff’s offer to help with your luggage.

The Beach Club used to be the Beachfield Hotel which earned most of the ratings on Trip Advisor. Rooms vary a lot in size, so choose carefully. Sea view rooms look over a very busy road to the sea, so be prepared for noise well into the night. If that doesn't bother you, book a sea-view room as you do get a great view. Bathrooms look like I installed them ( I'm not good at DIY) with taps wrong, tiles misaligned and sloping shelves. It all works though and is clean and tidy. Currently has no kitchen or bar, so it is a building with rooms and only a very basic continental breakfast service - tea/ coffee, whole fruit, Kellogs cerals, yoghurt and sliced bread toast. Parking is a mix of tiny on site spaces, public car parks or on road. All very busy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Like most places now, the cost here does not feel like good value.

We returned to the hotel having enjoyed our stay last year. It was good to find the corridors now refurbished, but feel that things have not been done quite right with the dining arrangements. The breakfast area with views of the sea is attractively decorated, but now only has 2 tables and you get all the noise from the new open plan kitchen, especially a very loud coffee machine! You can now sit in the front room, but no sea views. The bistro style breakfast menu has every item individually priced, £6 for just some scrambled egg. By the time you have added a glass of tinned orange juice at £4, some toast £2, a blob of marmalade £2, a cup of coffee £3, a bit of bacon £3 it all adds to a very expensive meal - not the normal relaxing morning treat! None of the usual help yourself cereals, yoghurt, fruit or top up of coffee etc. The decor in the room was nicely done, but only one chair and one bedside light. Too much space taken up in a small room with a large basket for pillows! A shame the breakfast experience marred our stay in which is basically a lovely hotel in an amazing location. I hope that they rethink some stuff.

My wife wanted a special lunch with friends as a celebration
Booked 2 days ago asked if cocktails are served which we were assured would be fine also booked a table with sea view. As we are a good few miles away had to arrange transport. On arrival no-one on reception and the only person around was someone cleaning the carpets who went to find a member of staff. After quite a few minutes a member of staff arrived and after several minutes found our booking in the diary. We were then informed the only lunch was soup and sandwiches. This was not acceptable as it was a special occasion. All we were told is sorry but we can accommodate you for an evening meal!! No alternative was offered one lady is partially sighted and two with walking diffculties. Luckily managed to walk to the Navy Inn alas no cocktails but a fabulous lunch.

Fantastic location - great sea views. Parking available at a cost in a small garage worth booking at time of reservation as free parking on promenade variable. In a busy season I would not hesitate to book parking. Bedrooms were modern and very comfortable. Friendly and very personal welcome. Meal was very nice and the public areas in the hotel modern, light and welcoming. The hotel was very light and decor in lovely colours.
If mobility and modern bathrooms are required I would take time to talk to the owners before booking as stairs and no lift. Bathroom was functional but dark. There may be other types available.

+1
Given a table for 7 next to the kitchen. The very tall waiter was so polite and helpful and made us feel very welcome. On our request he found some Christmas music for us to listen to. He took our order and kept on top of our drink requests. The food was excellent and the soup and salad starter was surprising but very nice. The kitchen staff were friendly and we could see the kitchen area was spotless. A very industrious team. Good prices too and nicely decorated surroundings. A relaxed and fun evening, would thoroughly recommend.
