Detailed Reviews
Wasn’t disappointed by River Valley Country Park - beautiful location very well maintained and very peaceful- apart from the almost constant noise from generators and leaf blowers in the vicinity.
As others have stated the WiFi connection is very sporadic which makes journey planning and googling impossible plus no signal for phone calls, very unhelpful on holidays.
The caravan was very well appointed and in excellent condition but two things spoilt it, poorly fitting doors which either didn’t shut or if they did were extremely noisy to open /close which isn’t ideal in the middle of the night... plus the twin beds are far too narrow for adults, ok for kids maybe but turn over in the night and you fall out! I soon got backache. I doubt I’m the first person to discover this, if River Valley intend renting it out again they need to put these things right, so, doors, WiFi and bigger beds!

Thank you for your review. We do apologise for the noise from the leaf blower, but if we do not do this the ground underfoot would be extremely slippery for our older guests and therefore from a health and safety point of view, we have to do this in Autumn. We are in the process of updating all our wifi repeaters. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Had an amazing time at River valley the lodge was so nice and we had a hot tub too which mad the holiday. The site is in a very quiet location but it’s great just what you need to chill out.
Not far from the train station about 4 miles which we used to get the train to St Ives only takes 11 minutes & £2.40 to park the car bonus, so much easier than trying to park in st ives.
Definitely be booking again.

We booked this break last summer as a much needed break from our jobs & luckily it still went ahead inspite of COVID.
The park IS quiet, don’t come if you want noise & entertainment. I booked knowing this & it was perfect. No noise after 10pm.
The Lodge we had (Maple 2 bed) was very spacious, we had plenty of room & plenty of storage.
The hot tub was situated round the side which made it nice & private, only slightly disturbed by a couple of kids on a ‘bear hunt’ - but we were happy to point them in the right direction!
The internet isn’t as bad as other re it’s would have you believe. There were times of the day it wasn’t working, but as we’d fully expected not to have any given the other reviews, we were pleasantly surprised! We did find there was no phone reception though, but we didn’t go on holiday to sit on the phone.
The park is ideally located on 10 minutes from St Michaels Mount, 15 minutes from 3 supermarkets, Costa etc and just another couple of minutes into Penzance. We also visited Lands End, Mousehole & Hayle whilst we were there. All easy drives.
We highly recommend Gwithian beach in nearby Hayle if you like the sea, a good surf and a spacious 3 mile beach.
There are lots of fab pubs in nearby villages so plenty of choice on where to eat, just a shame you have to drive there, but that’s the price of being in a secluded location & we were happy to do it.
Overall we had a lovely week & would recommend River Valley to anyone.

I stayed here with my 5y/o in July and was very disappointed by the quality of the caravan! They promise Wi-fi in the caravan but that was not the case, this is essential as there is no phone signal at all.
After arriving for check in at 5 there is then no one to contact about problems as they leave at 5 (except absolute emergencies!). After a long drive I unpacked my food for the week to find the freezer completely unusable. It was a tiny compartment within the half size fridge, I could fit in a packet of chicken breast and a couple of small ice creams, only to find they had melted by the morning! Whilst unpacking i wanted to stick in a quick pizza in the over for my daughter but the caravan did not provide a standard baking tray (only a glass roasting dish which is unsuitable). The oven was appalling taking over an hour to cook a small pizza (which I had to place it straight on the wire rack!)
The bed in my daughters room had dead moths on it, and the bed in the master room had a stained mattress protector! There is no plug next to the bed in the master room (for charging phones/watches) and no hairdryer provided. The smoke alarm goes off every time you have a shower and the heated towel rail is dangerous! My daughter burnt herself on it when getting out of the shower, it is at child height and protrudes in-front of the shower door. The tin roof is the noisiest I’ve ever had in a caravan and made for a very noisy and disturbed sleep. Having had to wait until 9 am the next day for the reception to open, my daughter and I went down to request a baking tray, and discuss the lack of internet and also the useless freezer. I was told due to COVID to leave my daughter outside on her own! In any other shop I have been in one adult is allowed with their child with no qualms! I insisted she come inside so I know she is safe and in eye sight but agreed she can wait by the door. They refused to help me with a baking tray claiming a glass roasting dish was sufficient...it was not! They agreed to replace the freezer, thankfully, but by that point my frozen food had all defrosted. They tried to fix the internet in the caravan but in a seven night stay, after having to complain about the lack of internet on a daily basis I managed to access some sort of Wi-fi on two short occasions. This was essential for us to check weather, plan activities for the next day and to keep in contact with my husband who unfortunately, due to ill health, had to stay home! Will not recommend

Thank you for your review. We are sorry our park was not to your liking. Had you enquired about the fridge/freezer capacity before you arrived, we would have been able to inform you that it is an under counter fridge. You were informed by the Manager that if you brought us your receipt we would reimburse you for the spoiled frozen goods. We apologise that our free wifi coverage was not up to your standards.

We have just returned home from our stay at River Valley. Although the grounds and surroundings here were beautiful, clean and tranquil we were disappointed with the caravan we were allocated. Black mould in the shower, dead flies on the ceiling in the toilet, rusty old toilet brush, marks and stains on the walls in the bedroom, dusty TV and shelves, dirty radiator to name a few. This is not what I expected on my first visit here, especially when we paid over £700 for the week. I felt it was dirty and is in major need of improvement. We actually cut our holiday short by 3 days, not just because of the caravan but for various other reasons also. When I spoke to the receptionist she guaranteed me that the caravan is clean and that they spend 2 hours cleaning on change-over day. I explained to her that it didn’t feel clean when showering underneath black mould… she also said the caravan is to be removed at the end of the year and that this is reflected in the price. I disagreed.
Overall the bed was comfy, the shower was strong and water soft, the park itself is lovely and close to amenities. But I feel huge improvements are needed to the caravan we stayed in. The WiFi could also be improved as we struggled to gain access to it whilst in the caravan and it barely worked once we connected.

We have just had another excellent break in Cornwall staying at the lovely River Valley Country Park for a 2nd time after visiting last summer. We stayed for a fortnight in a Cedar Lodge Plus with a hot tub. Yet again we had a fantastic holiday at the lodge and really relaxing stay as a family of 2 adults & 2 children.
The lodge was clean and sanitised on arrival ( You see the staff in full PPE cleaning & sanitising every lodge after they are vacated) and arrive to a lodge which is sealed with sheets/ pillow cases in sealed bags ready for the occupier to make up the beds on arrival. Our lodge was clean and tidy to a standard we expected when we arrived. The hot tube is checked daily which is essential, clean and well maintained.
We did most of our cooking/BBQ's at the lodge and the kitchen in well equipped enough for simple meals and cooking. There are stands available for disposable bbq's. This time we brought extra equipment for the kitchen which were a couple of sharp knife's to cut with as the one's supplied are never share enough, an extra chopping board, tongs for the grill /bbq, tea towels / oven gloves and plastic bowls & plates for eating outside. Having these simple extra's make using the kitchen/ meal prep etc so much easier. There is a really large fridge and freezer which is great.
It's is a pity they are not washing machines in the lodges or access to the laundry but we made do and remembered to bring plenty of towels with us.
Last year we had almost no wifi which was problematic and it's clear they have done some work to boost this as this time it was better thankfully. Neither my husband or I could get mobile signal either stay but thankfully with some wifi this was not an issue.
Location wise we really like the area. It's easy to drive to some excellent beaches, super markets etc but based in a lovey calm, quiet tucked away location.
Overall another fantastic stay and for our family a 10/10 yet again for a relaxing holiday during a time when we are not comfortable travelling abroad. Thank you to the friendly staff for your efforts.

Stayed in a Cedar Lodge Plus lodge for the first time staying for two weeks from 4th July. Have previously stayed in other lodges and caravans on this park with no complaints. The park is well maintained and very peaceful and quiet although the crows were particularly vocal this year. The accommodation was very nice and lovely and clean on our arrival. The Hot Tub was a bonus after long coastal walks around the beautiful Cornish coastline. Given it's rural setting this is ideal for those looking for a quiet holiday where a car is a must and the Internet is patchy but that is why we come here and have done now on about 8 occasions and have already booked again for next year. The staff were very friendly and the booking in was well organised given the first week we were there was the first week the park had been open since March due to COVID-19.
Quite simply this park is our first choice of call when we look to holiday in Cornwall and would definitely recommend a stay for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal (or new normal!) everyday life.

Immaculate caravan (Red 4) that had been spotlessly cleaned including "like new" utensils in a pretty, quiet, leafy location. A bonus was no phone signal & very patchy internet ! This is a great spot for exploring the area & north & south coasts. The 2 local pubs in Goldsithney & the local village store (well stocked with great local eggs & bacon) were only a 5 minute drive. The Packet Inn served high class / quality restaurant food less than 10 min drive south of RCVP. A great week despite the pretty awful weather & many thanks to all the staff at RVCP.

River valley pet friendly Oak lodge was clean and comfortable. They use a sanitizing machine and put a seal on the door so mo one goes in before you after its clean . The park was quiet and had a good dog walking field . It was ideal for three generations and 2 dogs .We would definitely return .

The lodge was ideal with everything you could require for a relaxing stay. The site is quiet and in an ideal location for a Cornish adventure. We have stayed before and will stay again. We stayed in one of the newer lodges these are of a really high standard with a lovely seating area and well maintained hot tub. There is even a fish and chip van which visits on selected days , perfect “chippy tea”.
