Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our stay at Penrose Guest House. Marc and Anne were delightful and took good care of us. The breakfast room was cheery and the food was delicious and came quickly. At 70 GBP per night for our weekly stay, the value was excellent. The only downside was that the room was warm (the weather was unusually warm) and the window didn't generally provide a lot of ventilation; but we were given an electric fan, which was very helpful.
Oh, and the seagulls can be loud; earplugs could be useful.

We decided to go on a last minute trip to Cornwall and after having a look on tripadvisor booked the Penrose Guest house for the Saturday night. Marc & Anne have us a warm welcome, shared a local map and gave us advice in where to go and what to see and made sure we were settled. The room we had was lovely. In the morning we had the most fabulous breakfast, including a proper vegetarian version for me! Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area!

The few negative reviews for this guest house seem unfair. The owners are very polite and professional, the bedroom / bathroom spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was great. The only grumble was a slightly chilly room during the night, but easily remedied with an extra blanket. I would highly recommend this guest house and this will definitely be my first choice when returning to Penzance.

After a long journey from Kent, this was a lovely place to rest and prepare ourselves for our boat trip to Scilly the next morning. Marc and Anne were kind and accommodating hosts and their breakfast was utterly delicious. A very lovely place to stay in Penzance.

I just came back from staying at the Penrose Guest House for two nights with my sister in the twin room. I would definitely recommend the guest house to others, and especially to visitors who like me, visit Cornwall by train. The guest house is perfectly positioned less than five minute walk from the railway and bus stations, in a quiet side street.
The room itself was nothing special but very clean, and had everything we needed - wifi, plenty of coffee and tea, hairdryer, lots of towels, shampoo etc. Based on the room alone I would maybe have given it four stars, but I have to give it five stars based on the lovely owner and hostess Anne. She was very friendly and helpful, giving us all kinds of local information we needed, even giving me some lotion to nurse my sunburn, and making us excellent breakfast in the morning. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Penrose.

I travelled to Penzance to take part in a cetacean survey between there and the Isles of Scilly, being pregnant and travelling alone I wanted to stay somewhere I felt secure and comfortable, and after research, found Penrose Guest House on here and read all the great reviews so got in touch with them immediately.
I was not disappointed - the reviews were all spot on, Anne & Marc are both so friendly and kind, I felt welcome as soon as I arrived.
The location of their lovely place is perfect, a few minutes walk from the promenade and high street, really close to the train station, and such a pretty place too!
My room was lovely, the sound of seagulls and birds outside my window, clean and really comfortable room, I had two great nights sleep!
The breakfasts were delicious - I had a full English my first morning, followed by a cheese omelette the second. Each morning greeted by both Anne and Marc for a friendly chat and to check I was ok.
They took away any nerves I had about being in a new place on my own, and I really felt relaxed as soon as I arrived. I'll definitely be back with my husband, you won't regret staying here, it really is home from home!

Although we only stayed for one night with Anne and Marc we felt very much at home .We were made very welcome and looked well looked after. We stayed in the twin room with en suite which was very clean, comfortable and with all provisions necessary and plenty of tea, coffee hot chocolate and milk and biscuits, It was good to see a jug of water too. The beds were so comfortable as well. The breakfast was delicious!- plenty of choice and plenty of food! -we didn't eat again until mid afternoon ( a pasty each which we took onto the train for our return home!) .Penrose Guest House is perfectly situated for train arrival, only 3 minutes from the station and with the bus station next to it theres no need to take the car! The bus service in the area is brilliant! There is a good choice of places to eat- we chose The Turks Head.
This was our first visit to Penzance (our 47th wedding anniversary) and when we go again we will certainly stay here and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone else.
