Ignore any previous negative comments about the Halcyon. There is nothing negative to be able to comment upon. A friend and I have just had a wonderful weeks holiday at the Halcyon. All areas are spotlessly clean. Our bedroom had a sea view - always a plus for me. The en-suite had shower gel and shampoo for your use. A lovely touch. This is something you don't always get in 5* hotels any more, as I experienced earlier in the year! There was lots to choose from on the breakfast menu, and the bacon and sausages were very tasty and of a very high standard. I say this in all sincerity as I am a fussy eater! The accommodation was 100%, but the icing on the cake for us was Pat and Bob, a nicer and friendlier couple you couldn't wish to meet. Nothing was too much trouble. After over thirty years running the Halcyon, they know how to look after their guests very well. They know all about the local area and more, and suggest places to visit that you hadn't even thought of. As our train was leaving late in the afternoon, Bob even met us at the station with our cases, to save us the hassle of going back for them. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Halcyon to family and friends, and intend staying here again. Pat and Bob treat their guests like family, and it was an absolute pleasure staying with them last week.

We have just returned to our home in Bristol, after another quick break in Cornwall. We like Penzance and try to stay at the Halcyon Guest House, at Chyandour, in Penzance. We have stayed here many times in the past and have never found fault. No change this time. We only stayed for 4 days. On arrival we were met at the front door by Pat and Bob Ayotte. Pat and Bob always welcome their guest's as if they are family, they help with the luggage, and let you settle in. Any thing you need is at hand. The room is allways clean, tidy, and well presented. Local books of interesting places to visit, to the best resterants in the area are left for you to read at your leasure. At breakfast Bob raelly comes into his own. No matter were the guests come from he will hold conversation with knowledge of the visitors country, makes a few light jokes and helping them relax and settle in. Pat also will spend time with the guests while Bob is looking after the kitchen. They work in tandem with each other so well, after all, they have been doing this for 33 years and leave no stone unturned making your stay a memerable one. After all said and done, were you stay is also part of your holiday or quick break. And believe me when i say, you will want to return and stay again

You are guaranteed an extremely warm welcome from Pat and Bob, the proprietors of this beautiful guest house, which overlooks the magnificent St. Michael's Mount and the wonderful Mounts Bay. Set in an ideal location for relaxing on the beach, shopping or exploring local tourist attractions, the accommodation is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated throughout. The several options on the breakfast menu will certainly not disappoint. The double glazing ensures that there is no road noise at all - you will definitely have a comfortable, good night's sleep! What's more, there is adequate private parking available off the road. 10/10 Enjoy!

From the prompt pre arrival communication and the warm welcome to the delivery of our boxed bicycles to the train station four days later, we realized that we had landed in the "Nirvana" of Penzance B and Bs. Pat and Bob's enthusiasm and hospitality shone throughout our stay. They are excellent travel advisers. The breakfast was superb and graciously served with a side order of delightful humour. The accommodation was spotless, bed very comfortable. It is definitely worth the prerequisite three night minimum stay. For us, it wasn't long enough and we would return in a minute.

The hosts (Pat and Bob) are really friendly and helpful. They provided us with plenty of information - not only about our stay in Cornwall, but even for the next station on our trip.
The room was clean and we had a nice view towards the sea.
We enjoy thinking back about our 3 days stay in Penzance - also because of Pat and Bob.

This is the 3rd time that I have stayed here and every time I have been given a really warm welcome from the owners..Pat & Bob....They certainly exceed all expectations....I have recommended friends with children who have enjoyed their stay as much as me. The rooms are clean and homely, breakfast is plentiful and you are able to order how and what you would like. Pat and Bob themselves are lovely warm people with a big heart...................who ever stays here will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks again to you both :)

If you like the traditional, this is for you. Can't fault the cleanliness and friendliness, but not really to my taste as I like the more modern style and found the decor a bit 'fussy', plus I prefer to chose my own cereal and fruit juice from a buffet at breakfast. Easy to find, with parking, friendly hosts, so no major issues, just not for me.

Clean, great breakfast, fantastic hosts. They were so helpful in finding local sights based on our interests. Comfortable beds. We booked two rooms. One of the rooms had a very good view to St Michael Mount. The view from the other room was not so good but it was quiet instead. I'll stay there again if I visit Cornwall.

I can't praise the Halcyon enough! It has to be the ultimate b and b for me and Roz, my travelling companion. We were both bowled over by Bob and Pat's friendliness and felt as though they were old friends. Location is wonderful and overlooking Mount's Bay, rooms are clean and comfortable more than most and breakfast is something to look forward to - as much Bob's wonderful low-key humour as for the food. I am only sorry that we couldn't spend more time there. I hope to make a point of staying again next trip. It is the Creme de la creme of b and bs!
