This hotel is in the middle of Penzance. It is a Georgian house on a hill overlooking the sea. It was refurbished 3 years ago and the owner has spared no expense. All the bedrooms have very modern bathrooms, and the one we stayed in had a glass roof over the bath. The roof can be slid back so that you are able to lie in the bath looking up at the stars. The common areas are beautifully decorated-modern, but in keeping with the Georgian architecture.
The breakfasts are wonderful. Susan, the owner, was doing most of the cooking. There is a huge choice of different cooked breakfasts, and all the ingredients are local and outstanding. Very good kitchen suppers are also available, and one feels that one is really being looked after. One of the best hotels that I have ever visited.

We loved our stay at a suite at Chapel House, which conveniently has its own parking space. A very comfortable bed, massive wet room, a wardrobe and a toilet are downstairs. Upstairs there is a spacious, light and comfortable living area and a small but fully functional kitchen. We loved the big sunny balcony upstairs with stunning views of the harbour and St. Michael’s Mount, where we had most of our breakfasts.
We appreciated the delicious cake and local seasonal fruit in our room on our arrival as well as well thought out details of the accommodation, such as a heated towel rail, teapot (and lovely Teapigs tea), binoculars and Bluetooth speaker.
The wonderful breakfasts were the highlight of the stay. We enjoyed freshly made juice and yoghurt with fresh berries and granola every morning, followed by a cooked breakfast of which there is an impressive selection. My husband‘s favourite was a kipper with poached egg, spinach and tomato and mine was avocado on sourdough with poached egg, spinach and tomato.
There is a hot tub in the garden, which we used a couple of times.
The location of the hotel is ideal and very central, yet it is surprisingly quiet at night.
Overall, a perfect place to stay and we hope to be back.

Thank you Izabela. What a lovely review! We're so glad you had a good time and enjoyed suite and its location. It's surprising just how quiet it is here even though we're so close to the town and harbour. Hope to see you both again Best wishes Susan, Lucia and Maddi

Stayed for only one night in room three with a lovely modern four poster bed. Amazing bathroom and the most fabulous body wash, made locally in Penzance, had to visit the nearby shop to purchase some to take home it was so wonderful.
Had a lovely evening drink on the terrace when we arrived as it was still a warm evening and found we were in a great location to explore in the evening.
Fantastic breakfast menu served in the kitchen to die for in the basement. Attention to detail in every way.
Our host Susan was very helpful with information and gave us a lovely welcome.

All in all, the Chapel House is a lovely stay.
Accommodation (Review)
We stayed in one of the suites which had a well designed 'wet room' great stairwell feature and good views. The added idea of including cereals, milk, jams & fruit was a nice touch, furthermore the open plan living space upstairs is also fantastic with three balconies, two of which were useful with different views of the harbour. I have to say the only two minor qualms with the room was the T.V could be bigger and in a better location and the worn table & chairs was an eye sore especially as it looked dated in comparison to the other furnishings, to mention the table was wobbly.
(Service) Review
The service of this establishment is what lets it down, it's a little under par which was surprising and disappointing, it's missing a front of house manager who is warm, welcoming with a can do attitude.
The owner who seemed to be front of house for most of our stay is very much of a business mindset which is fine but at times the service felt a little offish, cold and discouraging.
On both mornings, the lack of ketchup was hilarious one would of thought a repeat error would not occur especially as its not a budget hotel.
The danish(s) for breakfast was pretty much one croissant per morning, the 'unlimited' cake offering was not so unlimiting as we managed to grab 1 slice over the space of out 2 night and 3 day stay, however I must mention the homemade cake was delicious so it was gutting to not be able to have sampled more. (kudos to the baker)
Having a carparking space is also useful with the stay and from looking around the main house it is peaceful, warm and can easily be a home away from home.
The Chapel is a lovely stay, with decent views, nice garden and does tick the boutique hotel box, but its the service that needs fine tweaking for me.

Chapel House is a great UK hotel, very few have the style and attention to detail that it has. The rooms are beautifully designed, we thought it was a very recent renovation but it’s a couple of years which shows how well the rooms are looked after and cleaned. Susan and her team are super friendly and it’s a great location in Penzance. We ate at the Dolphin Tavern (great pub food), Cornish Barn (great venue and art, food ok, service not great), Tolcarne Inn (really good fish) and Bakehouse (really nice food and staff). So top marks for Chapel House, especially from our 10 year old who loved the suite!

We have returned to the very special place a few times and every visit it get's Better. Susan has a very high standard which never ever slips. The food is exceptionally good which is in my opinion the most important thing when staying at a guesthouse. She has a collection of gorgeous book which you can snuggle up on the couch to read with a slice of freshly baked cake she will make for you ! This place has a really gorgeous atmosphere and every detail is thoughtfully considered. There is no ikea furniture here . There are no polyester bedsheets and the cutlery is vintage Sheffield stainless steel. It’s a classy spot.

We stayed for 3 nights in suite 2. Despite arriving very early, we received a warm welcome from Susan (owner) who was incredibly helpful.
Our suite was fantastic and a really lovely space to relax in. Comfy bed, amazing shower and lovely toiletries. The views from the balconies are breathtaking !
The breakfasts were superb, fresh fruit salad, locally made yoghurt, bread etc., as well as a good choice of cooked breakfasts.
We cannot recommend Chapel House highly enough. Thank you Susan, we look forward to coming back to visit again soon.

Location location, centred at the end of historic Chapel street over looking the harbour. The house is beautiful with lots of interesting Art on the walls and comfortable furnishings throughout. We stayed in one of the Attic bedrooms which was very well throughout, it would have benefitted from some additional hooks to hang ones very wet coats.
Breakfast had a good selection of items, but it was presented in a very average way.
We did experience the supper club in the basement kitchen/ breakfast room unfortunately it didn’t live up to the write up in the hotels guide.

“Home away from home” has always seemed like an ill-fitting descriptor for most hotels. After all, a basic hotel can’t provide the comforts of home, and a great luxury hotel would never simply imitate ordinary domestic life. But then there is a rare type of hotel that does truly succeed at capturing the comforts of home while transporting you far from it. Chapel House is exactly that kind of hotel. From the scrumptious breakfast to the nourishing and striking design of the rooms — a stay at Chapel House actually does feel like visiting the home of a very elegant, thoughtful, hospitable friend. Did I mention that Chapel House is perfectly located in a fantastic part of Penzance, making for easy exploration by foot, bike, train, bus, and car? Susan, the proprietress, will have all kinds of candid, creative advice for you about activities near and far. When you return, take your pick of tea, coffee, cake, wine, or spirits and settle into one of Chapel House's many wonderful nooks that peer out onto the gorgeous harbor. I was delighted by every aspect of our stay at Chapel House and eagerly look forward to returning.

We absolutely loved our stay. Susan was there to greet us upon our arrival with a welcome drink which we enjoyed upstairs in the living room parlor. We started every morning with a great breakfast that consisted of fruit salad, yogurt, and granola with french press coffee. We were also offered a choice of a main dish. I ordered the avocado toast twice, a green & white omelette and porridge during my stay all delicious. My husband loved the blood sausage offered with his made to order eggs. We enjoyed our walks to St. Michaels Mount on our first day and Mousehole the next day. These walks were so amazing. The location is a half mile from the Penzance rail station and we did a day trip to St. Ives. Lot’s of great eating close by - the restaurant at the Artist’s residence and the Turk’s head are a quick 2 minute walk and the amazing Shore Restaurant is a 5 minute walk. After dinner, we settled into our spacious well appointed bedroom and lit a fire with kindling already prepared. Our room, even on a cloudy day had the most amazing natural light. Chapel House was a most memorable experience to be treasured.
