Detailed Reviews
I visited this hotel two years ago and the return trip was disappointing.
Although the location is great and the staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel no longer offers an evening meal or a bar with entertainment and bar food. The main dining room has been shut down with breakfast being served in a small room.
The cooked breakfast was basic and no alternative was offered such as a vegetarian option.
There is a pub with access from the street which did have live entertainment but but again no food.
This nice hotel has been turned into a bed and breakfast run on a small budget. Perhaps a change of ownership will take it back to what it was.

I stayed two nights at this hotel. My room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast in the morning excellent with various different choices. The location of the property is central and within walking distance you are in the center or at the beach.

This hotel was great for our two night stay in St Ives. The central location was particularly convenient. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent - full English as an option or any variant, plus fruit, yoghurts etc and fresh coffee. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly both at check-in and at breakfast. Need to sort one's own parking in one of the car parks fairly close-by but this worked fine for us. Would definitely stay again. Some uncomfortable pillows were the only negative!

Hotel's Favourite
Perfectly located in the the center of the town, a five minute walk from the train station. Comfortable and clean rooms. Very helpful staff generally but a big shout out to Sue for a fabulous breakfast which was made to order. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice room, comfy bed, hot shower , lovely breakfast, great location. Friendly staff , nothing was two much trouble. Had carvery on the Sunday, very nice well cooked hot food at a good price, would have been better if the meat was carved on front of you but still tasted really good, generous portions.

Absolutely wonderful stay. Perfect location.
The breakfast was spot on, Full English, cereal, toast, yogurts, fruit… the works
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
The only downside was that the divan bed base was dipped so the mattress was sunken slightly on the sides, so we were a bit uneven when we slept, but we slept “top and tail” a couple of nights which helped.
Very comfy beds when we got the right spot though.
Rooms and bathroom were clean and spacious
Parking was a bit of an issue as it was a busy weekend but we just managed to get a space at the Leisure Centre carpark, there’s a bus that brings you back down and back up the steep hill for £1.50 per journey, the bus stop is directly outside this hotel which was ideal.
We will stay here again when we’re next in St Ives

We booked the western hotel for a surprise get away for my father in laws 80th birthday. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have done anymore to make our stay any better. The rooms were spotless and beds soooo comfy and the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts iv ever had with plenty of variety for everyone. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend 😊

On arrival we were told that our table wasn't ready yet and asked to wait back down the stairs. No offer to get a drink, I felt like I had been sent to the naughy step.
As I am deaf and wear hearing aids I requested a quiet table when booking. We were placed next to the bar. I couldn't hear a thing my husband said to me.
A waitress explained that we needed to get our drinks from the bar and pay for them and the carvery. I don't mind this one bit, what I do mind is having to constantly tell staff I am deaf. I think the bar person needed 4 or 5 reminders.
I paid by card but didn't get offered a receipt, it came to over £36 for 2 carvery main courses, pint of lager and a small coke. Nowhere do they display the cost of the carvery.
We went to choose what we wanted, plates of ready cut beef, turkey and ham sat drying up on the hotplate for the chef to serve alongside an Aunt Bessie Yorkshire pudding and stuffing ball. The beef was both tough and stringy. The only decent thing on my plate was the roast potatoes, the cauliflower and broccoli cheese sauce was yellow, savoy cabbage had dried up, carrots rock hard and the mashed swede was empty. There are some lovely places to get Sunday lunch in St Ives but this isn't one of them. They are charging a premium price for poor quality meat and badly cooked vegetables.

Staff were helpful when required, although I did not need them much as I was only staying for 4 nights. The room was way to small. I was a solo traveller but it was too small for me, I couldn't really move much in there. If you are a solo traveller I would suggest getting a double room still as the single room was just too small.
The room seemed quite dated and there were some old stains on the carpet.
The bathroom was also small. Some water was always on the floor although I couldn't tell where it came from, I moped it up but there was always a little puddle there every day.
The shower was just a shower hose attached to the bath tap so not very powerful, but I had no issues with hot water.
The walls were thin so you could here people in other rooms and walking up and down the corridors.
It was quite noisy in the evenings, as there was live music playing next door, also at around 1:30am there was a load of noise outside, people shouting while leaving I presume but it happened every night so getting sleep was difficult.
Breakfast was a standard British fry up type deal No buffet or anything like that, very basic, although it was cooked fine.
Location was okay, its a short walk to the beach and the main pedestrian part of St Ives, there are shops right outside and a taxi service nearby.
I'm not sure if the larger rooms are better but I wouldn't stay here again as a solo traveller, I don't think it was value for money.

We’ve been regulars at The Western Hotel on a Sunday for many years and have always had a warm welcome by their friendly staff. The carvery is always fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced. The Sunday carvery has an excellent reputation locally and we are always very confident to recommend it.

There is a much more convenient car park (one without a walk up or down a steep hill) located just a couple of hundred metres along the road On the opposite side of the road to the hotel . It is a public car park which cost around £12 per day .
Further to my earlier answer, do you wish to contact the hotel with a query, or to make a booking? For booking, as someone else suggested, they seem to use a travel website for that. For queries the phone is the best bet in my experience.
