this was our first visit the the Blue Hayes Hotel ( will not be our last ) all i can say is that this is the best hotel we have stayed in by far !!!!
from the moment we arrived and were greeted by Malcom, Simon and Tess we knew that we had picked the right place to stay. the hotel itself is immaculate inside and out and in a perfect position over looking the bay and a 15 min walk into St Ives ,and having an allocated parking spot is priceless in St Ives ....
we had a 3 night stay in the Godrevy Suit which was absolutely stunning in every aspect from the large room , comfy bed, excellent views, bathroom etc etc, the added bonus of a bottle of bubbly on arrival as it was my birthday made my day :)
the breakfast menu caters for every need and cannot be faulted in any way.
The staff are so helpful and polite and cannot do enough for you ( just what you want when you are just there to chillout ) , ive been trying to find a negative thing to say but i can't !, if i could score more than 5* i would of done
many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable , looking forward to book again

We first stayed at Blue Hayes for a one night stop over in 2013. We were made to feel so welcome and fell in love with this wonderful hotel. We have returned every year since for much longer stays apart from the Covid year and a year when having surgery. It is the most beautiful and relaxing place to stay and your every comfort is catered for. The staff are excellent and look after your every need. We usually stay in the Godrevy suite which is so comfortable and spotlessly clean with magnificent sea views. The private beautiful garden is a haven of tranquillity with a wide variety of plants and has seating for outside enjoyment. There is a very spacious lounge with lots of relaxing corners to sit in very comfortable chairs or sofas if the weather is inclement and perhaps order a snack or drink from the bar. The breakfasts are absolutely five star, the best we have ever had, with a menu to cater for every taste. Apart from the lovely dining room there is also a wonderful terrace to eat your breakfast al fresco and soak up the relaxing surroundings, panoramic views and the good weather. All this within walking distance of St Ives and a coastal path taking you down to Porthminster beach. I really cannot fault a thing about it. A truly sublime place to stay.

The Blue Hayes hotel is a real gem of a hotel, from its stunning location (perched just above St. Ives harbour) and gardens, cosy interiors to magnificent breakfast. It may not look anything special from the front, easy to miss (in fact we drove past it when first looking for it) but once inside, its informal, quiet luxury is clear to see. Elegantly decorated in light colours, its tranquillity simply envelops you once you walk in. Malcolm and his team cater to guests’ every whim in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Nothing is ever too much for Malcolm, who is the most charming of hosts. The Blue Hayes hotel offers a piece of homely heaven with large bedrooms, extremely comfortable beds with goose-down pillows and a host of other facilities. The balustraded terrace offer stunning views of the Harbour with the garden gate leading directly onto the costal path leading down to Porthminster Beach below. We will definitely be back.

We have recently spent a lovely week at the Blue Hayes St Ives, this was our second visit but it will definitely not be our last. Malcolm and his team were friendly and attentive without being imposing. The suites are of the highest standards with amazing views of St Ives, we were yet again spoilt for choice with the freshly cooked and extensive breakfast menu - we can highly recommend the smoked haddock with poached egg and the full English of course, all ingredients were locally sourced and of the highest quality.
After dining in St Ives we would return and finish off the evening with a cocktail or two with all the trimming’s..
St Ives is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel and offers a range of excellent restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets. The beach is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel, where you will find the renowned Porthminster beach cafe - the fish and chips are to die for!
Due to the hotels popularity with return guests, we recommend booking early so as not to be disappointed, we have already booked our return for next year….

Having traveled through out the United Kingdom, we discovered this most wonderful small boutique hotel providing ultra personal service, overlooking the picturesque St Ives harbor and beaches. What can we say, we absolutely loved our stay at Blue Hayes!
After a very long drive Malcolm and Alice greeted us warmly when we arrived rather late for check in and the hospitality just got better! Alice offered and prepared a meal for us so we could relax without having to leave. Following the meal, Malcom and Alice joined us in the intimate bar area for cocktails with very casual and friendly conversation.
Our beautiful spacious room (Master Suite) had a private balcony and large bathroom with a spectacular ocean view. Tea, coffee, biscuits and a refrigerator stocked with milk were included. The bed was so welcoming and comfortable.
We had the pleasure of later meeting Malcom’s son Simon and Tessa and like the rest of the team, their goals were always to make sure we were well taken care of.
We were there for four glorious nights, and on our departure day, Malcom and Kirsty were there to see us off. We were actually very sad to be leaving. Everyone made us feel like family from the very beginning.
Would HIGHLY recommend Blue Hayes… you will not regret.

We have stayed at Blue Hayes many times over the years and I am delighted to report that, despite the pandemic, the high standards have been maintained during our latest visits in October 2020 and July 2021.
In October 2020, for the very first time, we drove from London as the train service was fully booked. With one night breaks in Dawlish on the way out, and Seaton on the way back, it was a decent journey although I was happy to keep my vehicle in the car park park for the duration of our stay.
In July 2021, we managed to get a berth on the sleeper service and were warmly welcomed by Malcolm and Kirsty on our arrival.
We had a light supper at Blue Hayes on our first night as a local restaurant had a shortage of staff and could not accommodate us.
I had a seafood platter, with lobster, crab and prawns which was superb, washed down with a very pleasant Sancerre.
The local cheese after dinner was marvellous and plentiful (other restaurants please take note).
Breakfast as usual was terrific and I always enjoy the devilled kidneys. Due to the pandemic, there are two sittings for breakfast at 8.15 and 9.30.
We stayed in the Godrevy suite on both occasions which offers superb sea views. The room was spotless and very comfortable.
I always enjoy having a few drinks in the lovely bar, especially the nice selection of gin. The bar now closes at 9 pm to allow the staff to sanitise all public areas but that in no way detracted from our visit.
I would like to thank Malcolm, Kirsty and all the staff at Blue Hayes for their unstinting efforts to make sure all of us lucky guests have a truly wonderful stay.
I can’t wait until our next visit in July 2022.

October 2024; repeat visit
An amateur musician practices until the performance is right. The professional practices until it is never wrong. So it be with Blue Hayes. I can unreservedly recommend this small hotel. The staff were fantastic, the hotel immaculate, the ambience extremely relaxing but not formal; a great location and excellent food. Ok, St Ives does not have the tea plantations of Darjeeling , the corals of Cairns, the majesty of Milford Sound, the gardens of Japan or the flora and fauna of Galapagos, since the last visit, but West Cornwall has the amazing sea, sand, history and uniquely spectacular views and towering granite cliffs. However and there is always a however, a musician’s performance is only as good as his last. Keep going; this was marvellous, well done. I hope the next visit will be too. Thank you.
October 2020
I can not recommend this hotel enough. The staff are extremely welcoming, efficient , helpful and just good. The food is of a very high standard. The hotel is exceptional, extremely comfortable, the location is superb and one is left with the feeling that it would be a great pleasure to return. There are just a limited number of rooms , giving it a very relaxing and reassuring environment. There are very few hotels in the world where I would like to return. This is just one of a handful.

From the minute you walk in the door until the minute you leave, you are looked after and made to feel so welcome. All the staff are outstanding, both front of house and behind the scenes. The standard of cleanliness never drops, thank you to those staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the rooms so spotless. There is always the sound of laughter and happy chatter coming from behind the door in the kitchen and the food that is delivered to your table at any time of day is outstanding. We have never tasted such a delicious cream tea as we had during our last visit. (I must ask Nancy for her scone recipe - I hope it's not a secret!) There is always cheery conversation to be had from the staff who look after you, but they are never intrusive. One should not forget the gardeners who keep the garden looking beautiful throughout the season. Malcolm has a winning formula here.
We can't wait until we see you again.
Wish we were there!

Firstly, special thanks to Malcolm and his team for making our wedding anniversary stay so special. We met two of Malcolm’s staff during our visit; Ruth and Alice. Both are extremely hard-working, polite and committed to their roles at the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble.
Next I should mention the breakfasts which were amongst the best I have ever had at a hotel. The full English was plentiful, piping hot and perfectly cooked. The fruit was freshly prepared and the kedgeree, which I’ve never eaten before, was tasty and generous.
Finally, the hotel and the room. We stayed in the Bay Suite which had an unbeatable view of the sea between St Ives and Carbis Bay. It also overlooked the beautiful garden and the unusual pine tree which sprawls across the lawn. This is among the cleanest of hotels that we’ve ever stayed in. It is simply immaculate and you would be hard-pressed to find even a speck of dust. The fittings are of good quality and everything functions as it should. Our bathroom had a spacious bath with separate shower. The light and airy bedroom had sash windows and comfortable furniture. The bed was large with a comfortable mattress and crisp linen sheets.
The walk into St Ives is pleasant along the coastal path, and takes 10-15 minutes. You can also walk into Carbis Bay in the opposite direction in a similar amount of time. The beautiful Portminster Beach is a 5 minute walk away.
I’d highly recommend this hotel. It’s a rare and unique find.

This hotel is in a lovely setting and the Bay Suite had a beautiful view overlooking St Ives bay. The room was spotless and provided everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Malcolm and his team gave us a very warm welcome and we were made to feel part of the family. We took advantage of being able to enjoy a cocktail (Cornish Brambles are the absolute best) and sit in the comfortable lounge area before going out for dinner. Breakfasts are superb. There was a great variety to choose from and everything we had was cooked fresh to order and tasted amazing. The service and care we received was exceptional from everyone. We were celebrating a birthday and Malcolm made it a really special day. This was the first time of staying at Blue Hayes and we're already planning our return trip. This hotel is perfect in every sense of the word. Thank you Malcolm and everyone who looked after us. Kathi and Mike Neish
