Set alongside the harbour, in the heart of the village, St Mawes Hotel has a lively and informal feel, without compromising on taste and style. The warmth of the team, beautifully designed rooms, lively bar restaurant and terrace makes the luxury sea view hotel a place that will draw locals and visiting guests back time and time again. The seven bedroom boutique hotel has bright and airy luxurious guestrooms. Decorated by owner Karen Richards, the interiors will capture the nautical views of the village and harbour. Each room echoes Karen's signature style, a marriage between traditional coastal culture and contemporary design. All front facing rooms offer spectacular sea views and look out over the harbour. The Upper Deck Restaurant at St Mawes Hotel is a convivial escape to enjoy authentic quality dishes that will showcase the best locally sourced Cornish ingredients. Menu options include both smaller and larger dishes based on the wonderful produce from the sea, alongside stone baked pizzas and daily specials. Alfresco tables provide an idyllic location to make the most of sunny days and enjoy the spectacular views of the water. Guests staying at the St Mawes Hotel will appreciate the comfortable lounge, complete with compact library and log wood fire place for cosy winter days, with nautical inspired interiors and unspoilt views of the harbour. Whilst visiting St. Mawes we were looking for somewhere nice to have a spontaneous late lunch. We stumbled across the St. Mawes hotel and places our order with the very polite young waiting staff just 5 minutes before the end of lunchtime service at 15:00. We each ordered a pizza which arrived promptly and we’re freshly made in the kitchen to perfection. I recall the margarita pizza being £12 which is very reasonable given the beautiful location overlooking the sea and the nice modern nautical decor inside. There was a service charge of 12.5% but didn’t mind paying as the waiters were very attentive and pleasant. The menu for lunch is slightly limited, but you can’t go wrong with their pizzas! Will certainly recommend to others holidaying in Cornwall!

An atmospheric hotel with great service and amazing connection to the water. We loved the location and made the most of the restaurants at both the St Mawes and the sister hotel Idle Rocks.
We stayed for two nights in a room on the top floor, but if we ever stay again we’d book a sea view room as the views out over the harbour are amazing. We had a lovely evening meal on sitting on the slightly more formal first floor and had also an amazing light lunch of mussels and wine sat on the balcony with the sun shining. Better than being abroad! The hidden cinema is cute and a good offering when the weather isn’t great, but sadly we didn’t have time to use it.
The staff were very friendly and professional, especially the manager who we enjoyed chatting to. Would definitely recommend.

We visited St Mawes for the first time this October & booked the St Mawes Hotel as a mid week evening meal.
The atmosphere was second to none, a live singer downstairs that could be heard throughout the entire restaurant (without being over whelming!).
The staff were attentive & personable and a credit to the establishment.
The moules mariniere were some of the best I’ve ever had!
Well worth a visit :-)!

We had booked a table for 2 evenings running on 26th/27th June and as we were bringing our dog with us we were aware that we would be eating downstairs. When booking I requested a table in a corner or quieter area as I was aware that the dog although very quiet and well behaved would settle better. We had a great evening in 26th all managed by Patrick and a young team, he ensured we had a corner table and the meal was thoroughly enjoyable. We confirmed we would be back the following evening and he made a note on the system to ensure we had the same table, albeit we actually said that any table away from the French doors where there was constant footfall to and from the bar would be great. When we arrived on the 27th, a couple had just sat down at the table we had reserved in the corner, as it was a Thursday it was very busy with live music playing. A young member of the team served me and when I mentioned we had booked the corner table looked embarrassed and said the only table left was the table between two of the French door entrances where not only was there constant flow of people but no room for the dog to sit, and not least our chairs would have been knocked by people walking by. It was obvious to me that the couple at our table had declined to sit there and taken the corner table, the young team not being experienced enough to manage. We spoke to the supervisor who checked the booking and stated, yes he’d seen the notes on the system but it wasn’t quiet on a Thursday evening due to the live music, he missed the point totally! The only table available was clearly unacceptable and I would suggest shouldn’t be offered as a table to eat at when all the French doors are open. A very disappointing experience which ruined our evening and left us nowhere to go to eat.

Special hotel. Obviously the room facing the sea should be chosen. The room is spacious, with a modern and large bathroom. You enter from the bar on the ground floor, the reception is normally unmanned. The dining room is very beautiful where breakfast is also served which is excellent, as is the restaurant. Overall, the general atmosphere is very characteristic.

This is a review of the restaurant only. We visited an a wet March day, service was relaxed, bordering on offhand, We were seated on the ground floor with quite a nice view. We knew the food was a bit pricey before we ordered so cannot complain at this. The food was good but not exceptional, how local the fish was I don’t know but it certainly tasted as fresh fish should. The selection of local cheeses was good. The mandatory service charge was an unpleasant surprise, so much so that as one who normally tips in cash ( the staff stand a better chance of getting it) I almost tipped twice. The ambience on the ground floor is rustic, but do not expect rustic prices.

My wife and I were in St Mawes for a few days and on the first day ate at the St Mawes Hotel . There are many things to applaud , the atmosphere is good in the bar and it has been tastefully decorated and dressed . The drinks were good though as one would expect from a seaside hotel not cheap . The food was delicious but to my mind not great value for money or terribly imaginative. I had the fish pie which was delicious but could have been more generous and just came with some broccoli and kale . To me the real issue is restaurants that add a service charge that you have to ask not to pay . I have been the landlord of 3 pubs and also run a retail business for the last 15 years . The level of service was the minimum I feel should be expected , polite helpful and not intrusive . There was nothing out of the ordinary so how do the justify adding 12.5% without a by your leave ? Also how is it distributed ? The kitchen staff cooked what was ordered so do they deserve a tip ? The waiting staff were also bar staff so should they have a tip for simply doing their jobs ? In the old days of wages councils bar staff we’re paid less than most workers because they got drink’s bought for them , that was wrong but to me so is adding a service charge. Prices should be fair , service should be good as standard as should wages and the customer should be left to decide if someone has gone beyond and deserves a tip .

We were away for a short break in St Mawes on a terrifically stormy January weekend. Our accommodation was almost next door to the St Mawes Hotel and, as the weather was so awful, we decided to run round to the Hotel for something to eat. I am so glad we did!
The bar area had a roaring fire and felt cosy and welcoming. There were two young men serving behind the bar who went out of their way to be helpful. I have an intolerance to wine, prosseco and various alcoholic drinks, but the one bartender made me a cocktail that was not on the menu, looking up the method and making it for the first time. It was so kind of him!
The food was great, simple but tasty and well cooked. I had the fish pie and my husband had a pizza, both of which we would recommend. We also shared a desert which was delicious.
We took our rather large rescue dog with us. He was given a soft dog cushion to lie on, dog biscuits and lots of attention. He was well settled and happy!
If you are looking for a cosy atmosphere, great food and fabulous service, then the bar at the St Mawes Hotel meets the bill!

We came here for a quick drink with our family, and the girl behind the bar was so helpful when we discussed coming for dinner the following evening. They managed to squeeze a reservation in for us, despite it being a really busy evening ahead. Ben, the manager went above and beyond. Such a lovely, helpful, down to earth man and a real asset to the hotel. We loved the food, the wine and the laid back atmosphere. It was great. Even bringing an 8 and 2 year old was no trouble for anyone (sorry if we were loud!). We came a long way to visit St Mawes and it did not disappoint. We will be back!

We came for Sunday lunch and they managed to get us a table which was great. Liam was so helpful and on the ball with everything he was fantastic. We had Amy serving us at the table and she was so lovely and very efficient. We only really have lamb when we go out for a meal as it is a treat and we was really looking forward to it however it really wasn't great, it was so tough. The potatoes where lovely and the salsa verda was yummy but when you are paying for the most expensive meal on the menu you expect it to be topnotch. We both wished we had the roast beef as that looked yummy.

There was no lift. It is a hotel on levels. I would say its not suitable for wheelchairs (my father was disabled) I had a problem with my foot when I was there and limped around and all the staff were very kind and helpful.
It really is smart casual. No need for jacket and tie at all, though you would not look out of pkace in one. Open collar shirt or tennis shirt and jeans was absolutely fine.
There are more places to choose from in the St Mawes area.
