I'm going to split the review into positives and negatives as there is quite a bit to cover and I want to be as fair as I possibly can. Positives Staff. Staff staff staff. From check in all the way through the staff were brilliant. Friendly, helpful, patient - I do hope the Manager is aware of how wonderful the... More

Just returned from a 2 night stay. A nice hotel with very friendly staff in a superb location. Quirky in nature and with bags of character I can imagine that this would be idyllic in the summer. However during our stay the weather was very cold, hardly the fault of the hotel, but the single glazing In the bedrooms meant... More

I booked a table for a special family occasion but the night was ruined by Tors Hotel. On arrival we mentioned to the waitress that the area that our table was in was cold. She promised to sort it out, but clearly did nothing. After half an hour (with two members of our party of 5 wearing winter coats at... More

We've just come back from a two night stay at Millers @ The Tors and would certainly go back! Great location with views over Lynmouth town and the Devon coast. The reception and public areas of the hotel are quirky and fun, decorated with many antiques and books galore...but our bedroom was rather tired and dated looking. Hopefully the bedrooms... More

We have just spent a wonderful weekend at Tors Hotel Lynmouth - could have been in an Agatha Christie set up - sleepy old seaside town - Tors Hotel standing majestically over the town - exuding old fashioned calm and charm. Our room was fine with glorious views, the extensive reception areas all beautifully decorated and furnished had the feel... More

There is nothing ordinary or banal about this hotel. The location is magical, the interior design is more like a theatrical stage set and the service is impeccable. It is rare to find a place that is so memorable, for all the right reasons.

We had a lovely stay, great service which made a big hotel feel very personal. The reception areas are so interesting and lots of places just to sit and relax. The grounds meant being there with a dog really easy. Certainly a place we will return to.

High up sits Tors Hotel with divine views down to the sea and twinkling lights going up to the opposite hill. This was my first view from a pretty bedroom where I was staying for three days in March. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A beacon of relaxation, set in stunning coastal surroundings, nestled against the rugged Exmoor coastline and set in 5 acres of woodland, The Tors Hotel overlooks the picturesque harbour of Lynmouth and provides one of the most striking views of the North Devon coast.Set against this dramatic vista there is the contrast of the warmth of the welcome and comfort provided by our characteristic hotel. Owned by Martin Miller, the creator of Miller's Antique price guides, The Tors combines the inspirational Miller style with inviting prices, framed by the beautiful coast of North Devon. This 19-bedroom hotel is crammed with Martin's antiques and curiosities. The Tors has all the hallmarks of his unique style. Roaring log fires, candlelit sensuality, books by the thousand and bowls of fruit and sweets, all washed down with a Millers award winning Gin and tonic. In the AA rosseted restaurant you will find a relaxed atmosphere with superb quality food, an excellent wine list and probably the best views in the village. The whole family will find a warm welcome in the restaurant and as much care will be taken with your little one's ice cream as with you're carefully prepared main meal. Outside relax with a drink on our newly opened Miller's Terrace while taking in the breathtaking surroundings. It is just a short 5-minute walk into the heart of the village and all it has to offer. The hotel is ideal for all the family and you can even bring your dog, who will enjoy the many splendid walks in and around the area.Unique and quirky yet stylish and relaxed the Tors is a special place to stay. Take a peek inside the hotel by clicking through the image gallery to the right, or come and join us for a Martin Miller's Gin and Tonic on our fantastic sea-view terrace, or stay for a night or two and experience the inspirational Miller effect for yourself. ... more   less
