I only had one night in the Edgecumbe, but I'd thoroughly recommend it. Arriving in a downpour and a howling gale, I was very grateful for both a warm welcome and a warm room, very comfortable and clean and with an en suite shower. By evening, the weather had improved and I was able to appreciate the location - just a few minutes walk from the waterfront on the Hoe, where the views were fantastic. Having my own front door key as well as room key made the Edgecumbe feel like a home from home, and though the guesthouse didn't offer an evening meal, I soon discovered The Waterfront - reviewed separately, a great place to eat. Breakfast was served on a tray, brought to my room. It's quite possible to walk to the city centre from Pier Road, but there's also a No. 25 bus which stops at the waterfront and does a round trip to just opposite the Theatre Royal (and then goes on to the Barbican). I hope to go back some day and explore a bit more - ideally in sunshine!

My partner and I stayed with Carla at The Edgcumbe Guesthouse two weeks ago for a long anticipated break back to Plymouth to see friends and family. We had double room downstairs and it was extremely comfy and finished to a high standard. Carla was a brilliant host and was very welcoming, and was easy to contact if we needed anything. The location of the guesthouse is perfect, it's literally thirty seconds to up the road and you can see the sea! The Hoe and Smeatons Tower lighthouse are a stone's throw away, and exploring past there is The historic Barbican with plenty of places to eat and The National Marine Aquarium. We stayed during the Firework Championships so came out of the guesthouse and had a brilliant view of the displays from this area which lot less busy than the main hustle and bustle of the Hoe. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a relaxed and comfortable stay right by the sea!

Delightful! Hidden away on the waterside, with little to disturb you while you sleep, and incredible views of the Sound when you wake up. Excellent service too, and very tasteful decor. Breakfast (included) also superb quality and filling. Great place to treat oneself!

Had a very comfortable stay at this property, bit dubious about staying in a Guest house, as it was my first time, I stay in a lot of hotels. But I was pleasantly surprised! A lovely host, very pleasant & welcoming. I would’ve rated a 5 but as there was no parking, when the advert on Trivago stated there was parking included, Upon arrival I realised it was street parking & I had to pay. I would recommend this property to other people looking for accommodation.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay. As discussed at the time, we have no control over what online travel agents such as Trivago, booking.con or Expedia say on their websites about our businesses. I always recommend looking at our own website or contacting us direct to be guaranteed of the best prices and accurate information. The concessionary tickets offer great value at £5 for 24 hours. I hope you’ll support local businesses in the future by staying in privately owned guest houses again.

Beautiful room , spotlessly clean , lovely big bed , stunning bathroom , peaceful night's sleep , fantastic location, superb host , couldn't have been better . Will definitely return . Parking was a little expensive on the roadside with the meters but plenty of spaces nearby . Breakfast was offered but in our rooms via a tray , we found somewhere local doing the full English . Carla the proprietor was very welcoming and as earlier requested had placed a chilled bottle of prosecco in our room on arrival . Great communication and a joy to stay there . Beautiful town , the Barbican area was so vibrant and historic . Lots to see and do . Can't wait to come back . Great job keep it up .
