I organised a coach trip via Shearings to this delightful hotel for the weekend from 24/2/17 until this morning. We had an amazing driver Sue from Shearings who I cannot praise enough. The hotel was lovely and the rooms were great. This is a typical coastal hotel that does require some updating and the hotel are in the process of...

Arrived at approx. 5.30pm. Cases were taken to the rooms by hotel staff.Quickly booked in. Dinners very good with good choices on menu. I liked the self serving breakfast , plenty of everything. Room was smallish but warm and clean, but could do with more drawers. Plenty of tea and coffee for your own brews. The shower worked OK over the...

I wanted to book this hotel for my parents, but on walking by, to the right of hotel is rock walk, which has a number of homeless squatting there, one was urinating, and another has now erected a tent under rock walk. Not a very nice area anymore for going for a stroll, I would not want my parents staying...

I am sorry that you feel that you are unable to book the Torbay for your parents as I am sure that like many guests, they would enjoy a stay with us. Unfortunately the homeless in Torquay is beyond our control and they are on council property not our property.

We've stayed in a good handful of hotels in Torquay and have found them all to be quite depressing. Characterless, dated and dirty. We decided on The Torbay after reading TripAdvisor reviews for our latest trip down, and I'm pleased to say we weren't disappointed. We got a warm welcome from Gary on Reception who was very helpful throughout when...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Right at the heart of beautiful Torquay, the Torbay Hotel benefits from stunning views over the lovely harbour. The hotel can be summed up as, 'grand features in warm surroundings,' and includes front-facing rooms with modern facilities - the Premier and Superior rooms are particularly desirable. It has a large ballroom, two bars, an indoor heated swimming pool and a sun terrace. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of the town centre's shops, boutiques and restaurants. After two years of extensive restoration Royal Terrace Gardens (aka "Rock Walk") has been returned to its former glory with a modern day twist. Located just next to the Torbay Hotel, Rock Walk offers spectacular views across the bay, and at night when it is beautifully lit up, it makes for the perfect evening stroll. ... more   less
