Considering all that has gone on its was great to see the Grand has not lost its charm. We had a great visit the staff were great always met with a smile. Our sea view room was perfect the hotels location could not be better. We are big fans of hotel and can,t wait for our next visit.
We came over from Brixham for a lovely cream tea as a birthday present, The cream tea was one of the best we have had, and the service received by a lovely lady named "Ania" was impeccable. The highest standards of hospitalilty was given to us in this restaurant by this young women. 5*
The Grand's location ideal. It is situated at the beach and next door to the main station, a short walk from the major shops and all facilities, therefore really convenient for public transport and drivers alike. The buffet breakfast was superb and the mature gentleman who greeted us at the dining room and organised table allocations was very friendly and considerate. Reception staff were super friendly and helpful. Generally all staff seemed keen and motivated. Some were more experienced than others, and in conversation it was clear that several were new to the hospitality industry, which meant that service sometimes needed a request. However, the culture of training and desire for excellence was apparent, and I fully expect that this will improve as things return to 'normal' following the difficulties lockdown presented. We ate in dinner in the restaurant twice which was superb! I enjoyed each course. Drinks in the conservatory and lounge area one evening were accompanied by a pianist who was entertaining without being intrusive ( a hard balance). The indoor pool is small and shallow but the heated outdoor pool was great and really clean. The sauna was good, but the jacuzzi was out of action during our stay. The hotel has some really great architecture and history. Parts of it are dated and needing an upgrade or re-decoration, this work appeared to be already underway during our stay, with some minor scaffolding at the rear of the property and workmen present. Our room was a large seafront en -suite room with a small balcony. The view was great and the room clean and tidy. I would rate this hotel more than acceptable as a four star rated venue. I would not hesitate to stay at the Grand again.…
Having had the most wonderful meal in a nearby restaurant, my partner and I decided to walk home and pop into The Grand for a glass of wine on the way home ⭐️ What a welcome ! The bartender Ed was so courteous and made us so welcome. Constantly checking on us and making us feel so at home - the cocktails were delicious!! The lady behind the bar ( think her name was Becca? ) was so attentive and professional. We enquired about hiring the hotel for a party in Winter and she (when not rushed off her feet! ) showed us around the available spaces for the perfect event. I can’t recommend this customer service enough. The Grand Hotel is Torquay’s jewel of the crown and the staff are exceptional. Thank you. We will definitely return for a post dinner cocktail ❤️
Just returned after a lovely 2 night stay,Very pleasant ,sea view room, quite, all usual tea coffee etc, excellent ginger biscuits, comfortable bed..food very very good, what we both said was how nice all the staff were, very pleasant, always a smile even under these trying circumstances, especially Emily on reception lovely girl. Ok some of the hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there, new carpet here and there, but minor thing,it’s very clean and like I said staff very approachable...Go and enjoy. It’s a good 20 min walk into town centre, but a lovely walk all along sea front.
