The Grand's location ideal. It is situated at the beach and next door to the main station, a short walk from the major shops and all facilities, therefore really convenient for public transport and drivers alike. The buffet breakfast was superb and the mature gentleman who greeted us at the dining room and organised table allocations was very friendly and considerate. Reception staff were super friendly and helpful. Generally all staff seemed keen and motivated. Some were more experienced than others, and in conversation it was clear that several were new to the hospitality industry, which meant that service sometimes needed a request. However, the culture of training and desire for excellence was apparent, and I fully expect that this will improve as things return to 'normal' following the difficulties lockdown presented. We ate in dinner in the restaurant twice which was superb! I enjoyed each course. Drinks in the conservatory and lounge area one evening were accompanied by a pianist who was entertaining without being intrusive ( a hard balance). The indoor pool is small and shallow but the heated outdoor pool was great and really clean. The sauna was good, but the jacuzzi was out of action during our stay. The hotel has some really great architecture and history. Parts of it are dated and needing an upgrade or re-decoration, this work appeared to be already underway during our stay, with some minor scaffolding at the rear of the property and workmen present. Our room was a large seafront en -suite room with a small balcony. The view was great and the room clean and tidy. I would rate this hotel more than acceptable as a four star rated venue. I would not hesitate to stay at the Grand again.

Good Evening, Initially we would like to thank you, for taking the time to leave your comments about the stay you had with us. We are situated next to the train station, a short walk from town and right on the Torbay seafront as you pointed out. Which gives you great access to public transport. Whether it be you are travelling here or wanted to see all the local attractions and local sites, such as Brix ham and Paignton. They are both a short journey from the hotel. Thank you for pointing out the quality of the service you received whilst staying with us, as this is warmly appreciated and the rest of the team will be informed of this. To further develop their training and customer service skills. Our 1881 Ala Carte restaurant has various local dishes on the menu from fresh fish to a hearty local steak. Our chefs are consistently looking at ways to adapt and improve the menu. Giving all our guests a variety of different local dishes to try. So we are extremely pleased that you enjoyed the dining experience with us. Paul our pianist has been with us for a number of years and always aims to have a balance whilst guest are dining, so they can enjoy their meal and also appreciate the music he plays. Our jacuzzi is now operational, so on your next visit you can relax in there our just sit back and relax in the sauna. Before you take a dip in one of the three pools we have on offer. It was great to read that you enjoyed one of our balcony rooms, which enabled you to soak in the beautiful surroundings and sea views of the bay and beyond. We look forward to welcoming you back at the hotel very soon, whether it be for a festive afternoon tea or to stay with us again. For one of our many festive packages that we have on offer.

Having had the most wonderful meal in a nearby restaurant, my partner and I decided to walk home and pop into The Grand for a glass of wine on the way home ⭐️ What a welcome ! The bartender Ed was so courteous and made us so welcome. Constantly checking on us and making us feel so at home - the cocktails were delicious!! The lady behind the bar ( think her name was Becca? ) was so attentive and professional. We enquired about hiring the hotel for a party in Winter and she (when not rushed off her feet! ) showed us around the available spaces for the perfect event. I can’t recommend this customer service enough. The Grand Hotel is Torquay’s jewel of the crown and the staff are exceptional. Thank you. We will definitely return for a post dinner cocktail ❤️

Good Afternoon, Thank you for choosing us to end you're romantic evening together. We appreciate all our guests, and welcome everyone in the same way. The team will be extremely pleased to hear all your positive comments about them, and we will be sure to let them know that their hard work hasn't gone unmissed. ED and Becca are both senior members of our team that lead by example, so you can be assured that the rest of the team follow their direction when it comes to providing the guests experience. We are pleased that you enjoyed our delicious cocktails and weather permitting they are even better on the terrace, taking in the sea air and the awesome sea views of the bay. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel soon. For a cheeky night cap, or a post dinner drink as you stated.

Just returned after a lovely 2 night stay,Very pleasant ,sea view room, quite, all usual tea coffee etc, excellent ginger biscuits, comfortable bed..food very very good, what we both said was how nice all the staff were, very pleasant, always a smile even under these trying circumstances, especially Emily on reception lovely girl. Ok some of the hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there, new carpet here and there, but minor thing,it’s very clean and like I said staff very approachable...Go and enjoy. It’s a good 20 min walk into town centre, but a lovely walk all along sea front.

Good Evening, Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us, regarding your stay and service at the hotel. The ginger biscuits we make fresh on site in our bakery, as well as all the bread and cakes that we sell in the bar with a fresh coffee. We will be sure to let Emily know about the positive comments that you left for her, as I'm sure she will really appreciate them. As you are aware, we are undergoing an extensive refurbishment programme in the hotel. This will cover all the areas that you mentioned and beyond. Rooms, communal areas, gardens and the Spar amongst others. We are a short walk from town as you pointed out, passing all the bars and cafes along the way. Down the promenade with awesome views of the sea. We are very fortunate to be located in a prime spot, with gorgeous views of the bay. Our guests get to enjoy the fresh sea air from one of our many balcony's. Or even if they choose to lounge by one of our heated outside pools. The views are spectacular! We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the hotel soon, so you can relax and enjoy the guests journey we take you on. Making sure we cater for your every need. Whilst you enjoy your break.
