I recently spent two perfect days at The Orestone Manor. The food was exquisite, the service faultless, attentive without being intrusive. Coach House Suite spotless. Decor beautiful. Just a perfect place.

This is one of our favourite places for lunch, so when it came to celebrate a Birthday and a 30th Wedding Anniversary we decided to book and stay the night so we could enjoy the ambiance and enjoyment of an evening meal and a good nights sleep. We were booked into room 7 which has beautiful views of the bay from both the bedroom and the lounge. ( unfortunately the tv is located in the bedroom one in the lounge would be useful to fully use it) The décor is suited to the age of the building and very much in the style of William Morris. The free standing bath is amazing and was large enough to accommodate two for a lovely relaxing bathe, with a glass of champagne. We decided to take our dinner in the conservatory, to still have the lovely view over the bay. The food here is delicious. We started with canapes. For starters I had the Brixham Crab Martini, Avocado, Apple Sorbet, Apple Crisp, Poppy Seed Straw, my husband had Chicken Liver Parfait, Toasted Brioche, Caramelised Red Onion Marmalade. For mains we had the fillet of beef and finished with a chocolate delight. This is a truly delightful hotel, the staff are friendly, professional and accommodating and we will be visiting again.

From the location, staff, ambience, food - just 1 word - superb! Even when catering for 50 everything runs smoothly and the food is as excellent as when dining a deux - well done - keep up the fantastic standards, thank you

We went for 2 nights in August and stayed in a beautiful 2 story room with hot tub on the terrace. Very well equipped room. Friendly and helpful staff. Food is wonderful so do book your meals as they get busy - good prices too. There are sea views but this is not directly on the coast. Drive or walk down hill to a wonderful small beach (pay car park) and steps down to beach. Pub by car park too. Highly recommended.

When we checked in we were asked if we were celebrating anything. We replied that it was our golden wedding anniversary. On out table for our evening meal there was a card and at the end we were brought a plate with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and 4 special chocolates. Such a lovely unexpected touch. The food was excellent and our room very comfy, clean and well equipped. All excellent value and we could not fault anything.

We had a very successful stay when celebrating our Ruby Wedding in 2018. We would have returned before but, you know, Covid…. Anyway we came back last Friday, inviting local friends to join us for dinner. Room 5 was a delight. So comfortable and with a super bathroom. And a Union Jack outside our window! A truly delicious dinner. We all had different dishes and they were ALL superb. We loved everything about our stay and will be back, hopefully, in 2023.

We enjoyed a two night stay in one of the rooms with a hot tub on the balcony. The room was well appointed and spacious. The upper floor afforded lovely views over the sea. We had excellent food on both evenings and the service was very good indeed. A definite repeat destination.

We spent two nights at Orestone Manor, in Room 3. We were "warned" that the place is a bit quirky, meaning old and not quite Four Seasons level. There's no elevator, but if you're lucky, there might be someone strong enough to lug your bags upstairs. Our room was very nice, with a lovely view out over the trees to the Channel beyond. Breakfast and dinners were outstanding. Well recommended!

Response from Orestone Manor Reception, General Manager at OYO 30412 Orestone Manor
Responded 27 Sep 2022
We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. As far as old, the building was built in 1830. We are a boutique country house hotel not a chain built modern building. The building is decorated with pieces of antiquity. We are award winning along with our 2 AA rosettes. These awards are given on food & service. Both areas we pride ourselves on. Being an old building we do not have a lift. You can always be sure of being lucky here though. A staff member will always be ready to carry your bags to your room. If personal attentive service with "outstanding" food, served in an old Georgian Manor house by the sea is not Four Seasons level. Well at least it is not the same price tag. We hope you yearn for the quirky things in life and join us again soon.

The dining at the restaurant was second to none! Very tasteful furnishings , well positioned tables and just about jut right amount of light. All staff were pleasant and customer focused, each delivering a really lovely experience and focused and very capable. The staff were smart, efficient and experienced. The food is was incredible! We were so impressed that the menu had multiple options and felt that there was not too much emphasis on fish, instead there was a whole variety to suit all tastes and the ingredients were quality with good presentation. We also stayed over in a hot tub suite, this was again a wonderful experience. Karen explained how everything worked and offered us slippers and extra towels. There are some gorgeous trees to admire whilst in the tub and it’s a blissfully quiet location to soak in the air and serenity. Thank you to everyone and especially the chef who made a tomato pasta to cater for a younger child, it was appreciated.
