Booked this hotel on a whim as wanted something cheap. Was very sceptical after reading trip advisor reviews booking. Com reviews are a lot better Didn't expect too much when we arrived checked in paid ( even though took 7 days to take money) went and unpacked came down asked what time breakfast was as we had just paid told no breakfast so I said just paid for it replyo I should have told you that so had a refund didn't really care about not having it as loads places to have breakfast. Rooms were OK comfy Bed was a stain on duvet though bathroom OK plenty hot water massive walk in wardrobe very warm. One problem are room was opposite a storage cupboard so 6.30 in morning making a racket with door and doors slamming.. Stayed for 3 days all in all OK as only wanted cheap as not there much only shower gel no shampoo but didn't bother us. Walked out through back onto road by harbour had to be careful as trees were being cut down couldnt walk back in evening as no lighting so would have been very dark. It is very dated couldn't see any signs of work being done so if u want cheap then it's fine but if u want something posher then pay more…
Stayed in this ‘hotel’ for one night and if it had been more or not a bank holiday we would have checked out straight away and tried to find somewhere else Paid for a £95 superior triple room with a sea view. When I got to the room it was a triple however no sea view and in no way superior I asked to be be moved to the room I had booked and paid for - I was told a computer glitch meant I was booked in to the wrong room. It was 1030pm so I had to take the room however when i asked for a refund of the difference from the superior to the standard room I was in was told there was no refund as the room rates had now increased. I knew this wasn’t right but at that time of night we just wanted to go to bed and so I thought I would sort in the morning The room - dirty, stained, smelt of damp and musty, dirty curtains, wonky lamps and floors, dirty shower curtain, towels smelt unclean, filthy windows Overlooked the car park and reception door The hotel - stank of cannabis The staff - not very professional, scruffy, don’t think they have ever run a hotel before - they were not in charge and had to ring the owner when I asked for a refund We asked to leave our bags on the Saturday before checking in- wasn’t given a ticket and bags left in unlocked cupboard behind the desk which was not always manned so no security Shower was ok and beds comfy - that was the only positive Got little to no sleep as our room was over looking the car park and due to the heat of the room we had the window open - so we heard all the cars, people shouting and screaming coming home which we wouldn’t have had if we were in the room at the front with a sea view that I paid for My friend woke up with bites on her which I can only think could be from the bed Reception was not manned after 10pm and the hotel door was wide open so no security at night whatsoever ever No dedicated cleaning team - we used the ladies loo downstairs on the Saturday and there was rubbish in there which was still there on the Sunday evening We left on the Sunday tired and angry - I now think that they re sold my room at a higher rate for the bank holiday and made up the excuse that they had mis booked me. This has happened to others too The photos on their website and other booking sites are totally false and from years ago when the hotel was well looked after It is now not like this at all and I feel conned and cheated I have reported them to booking.com, trading standards and the English Riveria tourist board as I would not want anyone else to waste their money staying here and they are using false advertising It’s actually dangerous with wires hanging off the walls, lamps held together by tape, damp and mould. There was no fire safety directions or fire designation point on the doors - not even sure they are fire doors! It also says it has a restaurant and bar - it doesn’t Wish I had not relied on the photos on booking.command researched this properly. It almost ruined our girls weekend away for my friends birthday Stay anywhere else but here if you can…
From the moment we pulled up on the car park, I knew we’d made a mistake booking this hotel. There was a group of men watching people arrive, which was very intimidating. The room was very tired, filthy skirting boards, only 1 bulb working out of 5 light fittings and having booked a room for 3 there were only 2 mugs and no milk to make a drink with. The bathroom window was held open with a toilet roll, there wasn’t a bath mat to stand on and the room flooded every time the shower was used. We paid for breakfast, DO NOT PAY FOR BREAKFAST, it was absolutely disgusting, there are far nicer places within a 5 minute walk, where you can get a decent breakfast. The car park isn’t free but instead £10 a day and very tight, so if you’ve got a big car forget it. Please think twice about booking this hotel, it really is a place to avoid. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.…
The hotel is very dated and the cleanliness is very poor. On arrival at the hotel there was a group of men who worked at the hotel standing in the doorway staring and making the arrival very intimidating. The hotel itself has decor falling off the walls or dirty paint work. The room was very dated with in need of a good clean. The bathroom was shockingly dirty. We paid for breakfast for 2 days and only went on the first day as it was really poor. The location is good.
The hotel is very tired, a lift that fits 1 when it works, not much in the way of amenities and very poor knackered beds. The bathroom was very very small and had also seen better days. You could not open the door fully due to the sink placement and the sink sloped so much you couldn’t stand anything on it. The tv was so small we resorted to watching phones although the Wi-Fi was quite good as we were sat next to the booster. When we come back to Torquay we will not be staying here again.
