We found this by chance for a one night b&b stay. The room was comfortable, clean and warm, and there is free off street parking at the front of the hotel, which is located just a short walk from the town centre. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast. The only problem was poor sound insulation from an adjoining room.

We stayed for three nights at this guesthouse. The best things about it are the breakfasts and the lovely dog, Maisie, who we only saw briefly. Unfortunately, while I want to support small places like this, many of the comments on this site are accurate about this establishment. The rooms aren't that large, but the bigger problem is the noise....

Hello, thank you for your review. The room you stayed in is a standard size twin room with a full size bathroom. Although it is not huge it isn't tiny either. We do have larger rooms, how can you state that the rooms aren't large when you have only stayed in one of them? This room has been recently refurbished...

Very clean, very comfy beds, choice of room, excellent breakfast, easy to park, would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a break in Totnes. This hotel would be excellent in the summer with outside eating area.

This guest house is situated on a quiet side road about 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Free parking available. The room was clean and well equipped, TV , kettle tea/ coffee , hairdryer, as was the ensuite shower room with a nice range of toiletries. Nice comfy bed! A good variety for breakfast from cereals , fresh fruit...

Rooms tiny, and outdated. You can hear everything from above and adjoining. It was cold with no temperature control in the room. Very overpriced. The saving grace was it was clean and the breakfasts were okay but don't have the coffee!

We are sorry that you were not happy with our accommodation, on your recent stay. There was no need for you to be cold, we know the weather has been exceptionally cold but all our rooms have either a fan heater or a plug in electric heater as well as central heating. There are also spare blankets in the wardrobes....

Lovely garden, wonderful breakfast selection, 5 minute walk from town, quiet, and clean. My room was nice, but as most places in Totnes a bit overpriced. I think walls were a bit thin as I could hear people talking in their room. The high rate is the only thing keeping me from coming back.

Quite simple great. Cosy little accommodation in a lovely part of the world. Breakfast is out of the top drawer, everything about it was delightful and felt like it was prepared by a caring, and talented, family member. We were two couples there for two nights for a wedding and our hosts recommended a great local pub on Friday night,...

The Old Forge is an interesting historic building well situated for easy access to the town. Although we had a small room with no space for chairs it was adequate. It was clean and tidy well maintained. Yes there is some noise from adjoining rooms due to the old stud partioning but it was not excessive and we slept well on...

This place was ok, but there was no welcome host or hostess, just an administrative hello and key given. No registration , no forms at all. One of our rooms was fine, the other was weeny. But clean and ok. Breakfast was good but the strangest feature was having a hot tub in the conservatory/breakfast room. No conversation with any...

Hello, thank you for your review. As the owner of the Old Forge, I showed you both to your rooms. I am not sure what you mean by a welcome host or hostess but I definitely said more than hello and give you your keys!!! We already had all your details from the time of booking and we find that...

The lady owner was very pleasant, the room and bathroom spotless but my room was so small it was a big disappointment and the walls are so thin we could hear people groaning and moving about in the other rooms. This has nothing to do with it being summer and the windows open, or the fact that it's an old...
