I booked a spontaneous getaway for myself within 24 hours and got a reasonable price and a reasonably sized room. Upon arrival I was greeted admirably by a reception desk staff member, Georgina. She was fantastic and patient when I made a last minute change to my stay and she did so effectively and efficiently. Though there was a slight issue with the room, she dealt with that promptly and patiently. Overall my stay here was superb and I will be coming back again.

Super friendly and helpful staff!! I made the mistake by booking through Hotel.com where they wrongly advertised the room with free wifi, free parking and free breakfast. Only to notice on arrival that Hotel.com sent Travelodge an invoice of only a basic accommodation. Georgina was very helpful and friendly and suggested to meet with the manager the next morning while already providing free wifi. Next morning the manager also threw in free breakfast for my entire stay. The room was clean and spacious and the overal friendly staff made my stay a very pleasant one.

The room was excellent and of a far higher standard than most Travelodges I've stayed in. Unfortunately most other things were below par. When I got to my room, on the fourth floor, my keycard didn't work, so I had to hawk my luggage all the way back to reception. The receptionist told me I must have put it in my pocket with a mobile device, which demagnetises the card. As a regular user of Travelodges, I know about that, so had kept the keycard in my hand and well away from such devices, so that wasn't the reason. This happens far too frequently and Travelodge need to either invest in higher quality keycard equipment, or train their staff better. When, I returned back from an evening out, my recharged keycard didn't work and on returning to reception, a different receptionist repeated the previously heard mantra. Again, I had kept my keycard in a separate pocket, so it must have gone faulty for a second time. Not what I needed! I slept well, but breakfast, the following morning wasn't up to scratch. When I arrived in the breakfast room, the assistant said "What is the room number?', no please or thank you, which I thought was rather rude. I needed the toilet before I ate, but the men's toilet had no paper and had empty toilet roll spools strewn across the floor. Same story in the disabled toilet (I am technically disabled, but would only usually use the disabled toilet in an emergency). I informed the concierge who politely dealt with the matter, but took rather a long time to replenish the toilet roll supplies. When I re-entered the men's toilet, I noticed the pan was dirty and I had to clean it with the toilet brush. It could have been left like that by a previous user, but together with the toilet roll issue, it looked far more likely that the usual standard of maintenance one could reasonably expect, was sadly lacking. When I attended the breakfast buffet, there was no fresh fruit, nor fruit salad on display, which is usually standard in a Travelodge, so I asked for them, only to be told they were 'unavailable'. I was informed however, that there was yoghurt! Sorry, but I don't really see how yoghurt is a suitable substitute for fruit, even if it is fruit yoghurt. I think this Travelodge needs to up its game.
