Many of the reviews we looked at before booking at the Grand referred to the need for some TLC and investment in the fabric of the building and decoration, all true, but....... Fantastic location, and our rooms had the most wonderful views over Swanage Bay and the Purbeck Hills, (complemented by some cracking lat autumn sunshine and unseasonably warm weather!... More

Great location if you don't want to be in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of central Swanage. Very close to the beach and excellent sea views around the hotel grounds and rooms. The staff were patient, welcoming and accommodating at all times. Above average for a three star hotel I would say, although a bit non visible... More

I'm not going to write much as I wasted two days of my life in this hotel last week. Should have re read my review of 4 years ago on this place !! Service poor, waiting for drinks at the bar, one bar person , sandwiches poor, hygiene of kitchen staff bad, kitchen porter did not wash his hands when... More

We booked in to the hotel to take Mum out for afternoon tea. The table was in the conservatory with an amazing view over Swanage harbour, the afternoon tea was lovely especially the ham sandwiches and the scones, which came out warm with plenty of jam and cream. Elliott looked after us and was very efficient but friendly, will definately... More

My wife and myself have just returned from a weekend at the grand hotel for our 25 th wedding anniversary, having spent our honeymoon in swanage, the town itsself has changed very little in that time being stuck in somewhat of a timewarp, the hotel is very nice with wonderful service from the friendly staff, the extensive breakfast menu is... Visited for a two night stay - pity we didn't realise it was half term! Despite the rooms and bathrooms being very tired the staff, food and the views were quite excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Ask for a sea view when booking.

Swanage is a pleasant town, the Grand Hotel is in a wonderful location with a garden and next to the sea, excellent facilities for children: table tennis, swimming pool & all the sandy beach, plenty of space in the large lounge & conservatory. Very tolerant & helpful staff.

Very much a three star hotel with an air of old victoriana about it. What makes it a stand out stay is the efficiency and friendliness of the staff and overall quality of the service. Rooms are comfortable, they have a pleasant wine list, breakfast and dinner are simply but beautifully cooked and coffee is good too. After a long... More

Had a weekend here in September.. had a nice time, was really impressed with the hospitality, I have celiac disease and was concerned how the hotel food would be. The head chef Marele was really good and adapted the menu expecially.

Really excellent place to grab a fantastic Sunday carvery. The food and wine is of great quality and the seating offers a magnificent view over Swanage bay. Brilliant lunch thanks to Damien and all the team. We'll be back!
