Nestled in a prime location close to attractions and the seafront, Harbour Hotel Brighton generally receives positive feedback on its locale from guests, but the experience is marred by noise from a nearby nightclub. While the hotel's cleanliness is often commended, with particular mention of well-maintained spaces, the service and rooms leave many guests dissatisfied, citing unprofessional service and maintenance issues.
The hotel's amenities, including the spa, receive mixed reviews, and some travelers feel the hotel does not provide value commensurate with its rates.

Hotel's Favourite
We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. We booked directly and were pleased to find out we had been upgraded to a sea view room when we arrived. The room was spacious, clean and lots of amenities available (coffee machine, iron, shampoo and conditioner, gin!) The spa was great, location excellent for exploring Brighton and staff were professional and friendly. Great options for breakfast and fantastic pastries! There was some noise from the bar across from the road but it affect our sleep.

We decided to stay midweek in August with the kids and booked two superior sea view rooms which came with afternoon tea and breakfast. We were given 2 rooms next to each other, rooms 210 and 211, beautiful full length bay windows overlooking the seafront, both air conditioned, we found the beds comfy and rooms spotless, and no issue with inside or outside noise in those rooms. The mini bar only has milk in and no crisps on room service or biscuits which was a shame, so bring your own, as do like a biscuit in the morning with my cup of tea. We had gorgeous afternoon tea in lovely restaurant downstairs. Spa pool great for us and kids and towels provided. All staff so friendly and accommodating, couldn’t have asked for more. Only disappointment was breakfast for me as would have liked fresh fruit and pastries as an option, as oppose to just fry up but kids loved their beans and sausage on toast.
Will definitely be recommending this hotel and be back. Thanks for lovely stay.

We decided to join my daughter in Brighton for her 18th birthday and searched various hotels on the seafront for cost and what they offered within the hotel as we knew it was going to be hot and whilst still in a pandemic we wanted to be able to stay in the hotel if it was too busy. We were not disappointed. Firstly we were given a sea view room. Rooms are not massive but ours was clean and functional with black out curtains which were fantastic and really worked. There is a fridge, coffee making facilities, both pod making machine and kettle, dressing gowns and slippers for the use of. We used these when we went for a spa treatment and to use the pool. You can leave your room and take the lift straight down to the spa without having to walk through any public areas like reception. The restaurant/ bar area is fun, you can sit and watch people go by. We had a meal the evening we arrived which was lovely. Not a massive menu but the food was very nice and no complaints from us. We were booked in for one night and requested a late check out which they were able to provide, until 1pm as we were booked in for their fun fair afternoon tea at 3:30. In between they stored our cases for us and as we were all present earlier they searched our afternoon tea early. My only complaint, which was not a complaint at all, was the hot dog had far too much mustard in it, everyone agreed. Not sure if the chef thought they were using Dijon but it was English mustard and cleared the sinuses pretty quick. As I say, not a complaint as the afternoon tea was fabulous, not your usual of finger sandwiches and sweet cakes. All the staff were super friendly and really couldn’t do enough for you. I can’t wait to stay there again, best night away in a British hotel I’ve ever had.

I booked the deluxe sea view room for one night two weeks before, not expeting the storm which has hit the Uk . The cost was over 200 pounds. Having said that the storm was surely not expeted by the hotel's staff either, the experience we had was not worthy the money . We arrived to the hotel 10 minutes after the expected check in time. We were asked to wait for the room to be ready and we were offered a drink in the bar ( where we noticed there was already a leaking from the ceiling). We waited for one hour without anyone giving us any update. One hour later we asked the receptionist if the room was ready, and they told us it was indeed and our luggage was already taken upstairs. Ok, fine. The room itself was good, although it was different from the pictures on booking.com ( for the same range of price we saw a room with a bath, while we had one with a shower). Not a huge difference, but we paid for something different. Anyway, we spent the afternoon out to sort the appointment we came to Brighton for. When we came back to the hotel, we found out there was a leaking of water from the ceiling . It was on a part of the room far from the bed , but it was noisy and unpleasant. We reported it to the staff, who offered us three towels to put on the floor under the leaking. The staff member was kind and offered us a drink , but I do not think that was the solution for the water coming from the ceiling. We did not sleep well for the noise of the storm as well as the noise of the leaking. When we got up in the morning, we found out there were two different parts where the water was coming from. It was literally raining in the room at that point. We left the room earlier because we were upset and we could not find rest anyway. When we did the checkout and reported everything to the staff, we were told it was expected because of the storm. I am not blaming the staff for the bad weather, but kindness cannot be the answer to an unpleasant experience which costed more than 200 pounds.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Brighton Harbour Hotel. On arrival, and throughout, the staff were nothing but helpful and courteous. Unfortunately the lift was out of order for our entire stay, and we were placed on the 2nd floor. Whilst the reception staff very kindly offered us the use of the service elevator, this was not always easily accessible due to the busyness of the hotel. We were informed that the lift would be repaired ASAP, but this did not happen during our stay.
The room was well presented and clean (if a little small for two people). We were greeted by a Happy Birthday helium balloon, nice chocolates & a hand written note. The bathroom was small but functional, and of contemporary design. There were a couple of oversights from the housekeeping department, as the empty tissue box was not replenished etc, but overall the rooms were cleaned to a very high standard. The hotel has a convient central location, however the downside of this is that there is a lot of noise from the party goers in the street downstairs throughout the night.
The evening we spent in the hotel bar was very nice, with helpful staff & tasty drinks. There was quite a lot of noise due to a wedding party going on in the hotel, but we were pre warned about this by the staff.
The mornings in the hotel resturant certainly provided breakfast with a view, as you look straight out onto the promenade & the Seafront. The large windows allow lots of sunlight in, and the decor with nods towards the fairground theme, provided a pleasant setting for our meal.
The breakfast provided was exceptional, with a lovely buffet with a wide variety of choice. This was followed by food from the kitchen, cooked to order, that was wonderfully fresh.
The staff in the resturant were friendly, professional & efficient. A particular mention to the gentleman waiter on breakfast duty this weekend just gone, who was around 5'7" with dark hair tied back, wearing a waistcoat. He was smiley, approachable and willing to do anything to make our experience more enjoyable for us. Unfortunately we didn't catch his name.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our lunch in the hotel resturant, especially the banana cream dessert- highly recommended!
The spa facilities provided are in need of renovation, as they look grubby and unkempt (particularly the tiling). The swimming pool was cold, and many of the decorative light features in the pool were not working.
The hydrotherapy pool was disappointing, and felt like a cold jacuzzi.
Heading downstairs, the two hot tubs provided were wonderful. The subtle lighting features and the hot water temperature, alongside the authentic architecture created a magical experience.
The sauna & the steam room were very nice, with perfect temperatures, not too overwhelming.
We thoroughly enjoyed our couples massage, and would happily return. The massage therapists were very professional and thorough, and provided a truly relaxing experience, that made our weekend.

Having visited the hotel once a few years ago, I was very much looking forward to my stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay, especially the use of the spa. (This is unique and feels special, although some areas could do with a facelift)
However, unfortunately we noticed on arrival that our bedroom carpet had a rather horrible looking stain in the centre of the room with dried lumps around it. We immediately went back down to reception and they did send someone up to clean it. They did a good job and it looked a lot better, however this did lead us to question why this had not be done prior to our visit and whether the room had actually been thoroughly cleaned. Moreover, some form of good will gesture in recognition for this unsightly inconvenience would have been gratefully received, however no such gesture was made.
For a room costing £110, you expect the previous guests’ mess to have been removed from the carpet...
A shame when it was otherwise a lovely night away.

Stayed 3 nights for our wedding anniversary, chocs in the room were very nice, thank you. Location is fab, great view from the room. Short walking distance to the pier and the lanes. Parking is a short walk away (reduced rates at the NCP, £50+ for 3 nights). General vibe of the hotel is great, staff were all lovely and efficient when we had a query or request.
However, the rooms need some attention to warrant the price we paid. One of the glasses provided on the complimentary tray was chipped and cracked and also the table was broken and very delicate. Informed one of the girls on the front desk as soon as we noticed who arranged a new glass delivered to the room but the table stayed that way for the time of our trip.
The paint on the walls needs some touching up especially in the bay window and around the skirting boards.
The air conditioning unit was noisy when turned on and also needed a thorough clean as lots of dust and grime could be seen.
Finally, the gowns provided for the spa had definitely seen better days, the hoops for the waist tie were broken and hems were fraying. On arrival I asked if there were any larger sized gowns available as both my partner and I are plus size. I was informed that they only have the one size and that we can just go down in our clothes. I felt the gowns were a tad small in general and saw many other guests struggling with them in the spa area.
I would stay at this hotel again as the staff were so nice and the location is fantastic but I felt like we paid a lot of money for our anniversary trip and it felt all a little run down.

I booked a room for three nights for a business trip in March and couldn't be more disappointed. On entering the room it was noticeable hot, this particular room didn't have AC and I'd checked all radiators were off. On opening the window, as far as it would go, about 5 inches, I was greeted with very little in the way of breeze and a loud generator noise, all night. Not the best of starts, I slept on top of the covers and was still hot.
Having mentioned this to the receptionist she very kindly offered a free upgrade to a room with AC, only to be greeted again with a very hot room and an AC unit that didn't work. I managed to get some relief by opening the window only to be welcomed by loud shouting, cheering, screaming and the odd expletive until 3am, plus the banging of the sash window, which I did manage to resolve by wedging some hotel literature between the window and frame. I was awoken by the sound of a bottle bank being emptied and a cheer at 5am.
On the 3rd night I thought I'd managed to resolve the AC unit by switching it off and on again to a disturbing cloud of dust. Needless to say the AC unit worked for approximately 20 minutes before going back into fault. Again the noise was horrendous from the street and I was again awake at 3am writing a trip advisor review. The room itself was not an upgrade, it was actually smaller than the original room and i had to navigate around side ways to avoid walking into things. The wall mounted TV was way to close to the end of the bed, the bed was way to close to the wardrobe and the sink was literally in the doorway of the bathroom.
Positively the food was pretty good but over priced, but cost is relative so if you think £5 for 1 scrambled egg is good value then that's ok. Fruit juices not part of the continental breakfast and charged at £2.50 each. Service charges added to room bill for absolutely everything.
If you can see the view attached expect a poor night's sleep in a hot room.

I booked this hotel due to needing some me time and peace upon arriving it was lovely and quiet generally clean until I pulled the sheet of the duvet which was stained brown and dirty, definately new duvets needed. There was mould in the bathroom on the tiles and ceiling and dust buildup behind the cabinets, noise from a generator which didnt really bother me as I am generally used to noise the bed is super comfortable, but cleanliness must be better. I stayed for 2 nights, paid my full price didnt use anything extra and the day I arrived the general gym sauna jacuzzi which I mainly booked it for had closed due to this virus which i fully undertand. But what I dont yet undertand is why I checked my bank today and found £20 had been removed ?? Confused.

We stayed here over New Years Eve and were not expecting very much. We were pleasantly surprised however and had a decent room with complementary bottles of sherry and gin laid out. The rooms were extremely hot and the noise proofing very limited, however the beds were very comfortable everything extremely clean. We had cocktails in the bar and they were well made and well served so all in all, not at all bad.
