Big queues at check-in and only two members of staff at reception, one of whom was on the 'phone for some time. Our first-floor room was clean and spacious. However, later that afternoon, a very large wedding party was in full swing just below us. The noise was unbearable - constant boom of the bass and the DJ shouting. It was as if we were in the venue with them! We asked to move and thankfully, we were given a 5th floor room. In fact, we could still hear the booming music but, of course, much less so than on the 1st floor. Our bathroom was clean but tiny. We would have liked a drink in the bar that evening, but the wedding party had spilled out into the whole bar. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. On our final morning, the breakfast room was hectic and some people had to queue outside waiting for a table. One lift was out of order for most of our 3 night stay. All in all, our stay was a great disappointment. Certainly not value for money.

Nice hotel, close to the beach and amazing staff. A special mention to Roham at reception who helped us a lot with our luggage in a very difficult moment for us. People like him make a business standing out from the competition

I booked my two night stay for a conference at The Brighton Centre. I was disappointed as when booking I asked for the hotel to consider my mobility when allocating my room and also that I wanted to be placed on a quieter part. Instead I was placed on the fourth floor with only one lift working in the whole hotel so dreaded going up or down the lift! On the first night I was awoken in the early hours by doors banging, loud voices and telly/music noises. So sound proofing was an issue but to be fair the receptionist who I reported it to handled it very well. I thought for the price I paid the room should have had a safe. Also there were no drawers in sight! Apart from the above everything was perfect. Also the breakfast was brilliant and catered well for me as a vegetarian and dairy intolerant person. Finally the location was excellent. Literally across the road to the beach with local shops restaurants and other amenities very close by. So all in all not bad at all with very friendly staff. I would recommend and would probably return.

I had an excellent experience staying at the Holiday Inn in Brighton. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, making me feel at ease throughout my stay. The rooms were exceptionally clean, with everything I needed to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The highlight of my stay was the breakfast which was simply outstanding. The wide range of delicious options meant that there was something for everyone. Overall, I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Brighton, as it ticked all the boxes for me!

I enjoyed my stay here. It wasn’t cheap but it was over one hundred pound cheaper on the Saturday night than my usual hotel The Grand. I had a standard room which was clean and comfortable could have done with a few more toiletries in the bathroom( I hate the large toiletries but I know the are more earth friendly) shower was large and hot. Breakfast was very nice. Best room service I have had for a long time( much better than the some of the five star hotels I often stay in) I had the fish and chips and the fish was lovely and it came very quickly. All in all I would recommend. Staff were also nice and check in fast.

Great location, convenient for the beach, great restaurants round the corner (miles better and cheaper than over in the Lanes), staff were lovely, great breakfast (we got it as part of our loyalty program) and clean rooms But, the place really needs some TLC. The carpet in our room was pulled and bunched up (trip hazard) , the bathroom unit was damaged, the decor was tired and marked/ripped in places and the windows were rusty and a bit grubby. A good hotel if you don't pay too much. But it could easily be a great one.

Room Tip: Aim for a beach facing room if you can and try and get a few doors away from the lift, it's not...

Stayed for 2 nights for work. Room was large and very clean. Some of the woodwork around doors, wardrobe in need of a touch up of paint but that didn't affect my stay/sleep. Room had iron, ironing board, fan, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, so everything you need. Breakfast was varied and very good. Hotel in great location on the seafront with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. I read previous reviews and thought the hotel would be terrible but it wasn't- I would book to stay here again.

4pm check in and 11am check out UNLESS YOU PAY MORE. Online check in with key code so can’t even drop bags off till check in. Greedy nasty company after your money. Avoid on principle. Big Companies like this need to realise that we aren’t stupid and will vote with our cash till they change. Choose somewhere kind and personal who care about customers visiting the seaside for the day and want them to enjoy their visit. Why does it take five hours to clean one double room? My guess is that they have cut costs by making a small team of poor cleaners on minimum wage clean all the rooms to make even more profit.

We booked a two night stay for a family trip away. We had previously stayed here in the past a few years ago but can honestly say it has gone down hill ALOT. This time we booked an executive room, with Seaview and balcony. Initially on entering the room we felt it looked lovely, but later discovered its lack of cleanliness. We found ants crawling around our bathroom floor, along with a clearly visible dirty bathroom floor, lots of little stones, hairs, dust etc. We had a huge crack in the bathroom sink straight down the middle and the shower leaked regardless of using the shower screen protector. The carpet in the main room had also not been hoovered, full of lots of white hairs, dust and stones. The mini fridge that they supply was not cleaned and had brown liquid all spilt on the inside. The TV in the room had awful reception and often was distorted. The balcony was in a sad state, windows and doors not cleaned, cracked floors and rust chairs. We paid £432 for 2 nights, and for that price we would expect the room to have been cleaned to a high standard, there is no excuse for a lack of cleanliness. We have a toddler, who we were concerned about touching things or leaving things on the floor. The hotel staff were as useful as a chocolate tea pot. I informed them of the above, to be met with a laugh and a comment of "we will let the cleaners know". On checking out, we were asked how the stay was and again informed them of the above, and the staff commented "sorry to hear that, contact booking.com" not in the least bit interested. There are much better hotels in Brighton and yes they are dearer but they have high standards and that reflects in the price. Holiday inn are trying to keep up with the other hotels in terms of price, but have an extremely low standard. Don't book here, pay a bit extra and stay somewhere nicer and cleaner....or otherwise expect to come home with ants in ya bag!!
