The hotel has a good location, that's about it. In desperate need of investment, everything very tired and worn. Practically zero bathroom toiletries, no robes, old towels. At £250 for one night, I would look elsewhere and would not return.

The ship hotel looks slightly tired from the outside not quite how it looks in the pictures and sadly this follows through to the inside. The room we stayed in had stains on the carpet a cracked ceiling and a very tired bathroom covered in limescale. When you see the images on the website it’s disappointing to see the quality of the room in reality. As this was a birthday surprise stay in Brighton I felt disappointed by the overall experience of the quality of the upkeep. Some areas we walked through had damaged hallway wallpaper and what appeared to be damp. The room was too hot with no means of turning the radiator down and to noisy to open the windows. Also the facilities in the room were on the mean side. I would say though that despite this the staff were helpful and polite and deserve a better rating than the hotel. Such a shame and sadly I won’t be recommending it to friends.

We are Brighton’s most historic hotel and, as I am sure you will appreciate, that comes with its challenges. We are proud of our history, which is displayed throughout the building, although we are not blind to the fact that a building like ours needs continual investment to be able to maintain current market expectations. Although we have not enjoyed this investment in our recent past, we are expecting it to be forthcoming soon and, along with our superb location, I am sure that, on completion, we shall be able to project a very different experience to those who are looking for it. In the meantime, I would be happy to talk through any further comments you have and assure you that we take the experiences of all our guests very seriously and do look at any ways to improve where we can. Kind Regards Jason Bramwell General Manager

Stayed for one night as hotel was a great location on the sea front and easy walking distance to the beach or town. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and it was a delight to have a friendly chat. The room was clean, a little tired and in need of a bit of paint in places perhaps but had everything we needed and a comfortable bed for the night. Breakfast the next morning was good with everything you want.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. My team and I are always grateful when our guests let us know they have enjoyed their stay, after all, that is what we are here to ensure. In such challenging times as we live in, it is great to know that good traditional hospitality is still welcomed and appreciated. Kind Regards Jason Bramwell General Manager

Had an afternoon tea with a voucher from Groupon. Staff were pleasant - a little unkept. Afternoon tea was very nice - sandwiches were delicious. However the scones were as flat as a pancake - delicious but should never have been served. The decor is very tired, we sat in the window and the wall was bubbled with damp, the windows were painted shut. When we went downstairs to the toilets - there was tissue in the floor and a toilet brush on the window sill as we went back up the stairs leading to the bar!!! I would never come back, which is an absolute shame as the location is fantastic and with a huge amount of money spent on the place this could be a goldmine. All said and done, well done to the chef and staff for having to put up with it all.

The room was very clean and comfortable. We didnt have a front facing seaview but had a great view from the side window . The only negative was that the bin men started work very early , theres no good time to empty bins but sounded like the lorries were in the room . Think it just happens on a monday morning but apart from that all was good. Great location to the Pier ,Lanes ,pubs ,Royal pavilion etc. Will be back in the summer .

Booked for a few days respite, loved this quirky hotel. Our room was clean, huge and very warm! Breakfast was self service with plenty of choice. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. In short the break we needed.

We stayed recently with our two dogs, we were lucky to get a space in the hotel car park and were able to leave it there until midday the next day for a charge of 25.00, staff both at the car park and within the hotel were all very friendly and polite, excellent customer service. We had a room on the 4th floor tucked away which was brilliant for us as no street noise to set the dogs barking. Hotel is so convenient not only for the seafront but also the lanes. We also discovered a lovely pub in the next street called The Walrus, well worth a visit. We will be back xx
