The receptionist, Francis, was very welcoming and helpful. He had showed me a few room options and I chose a lovely double room with ensuite, the room was clean and smelled lovely ( like strawberries ), very impressive for the price. The bed is good enough not the comfiest however. The bathroom is very clean and looks great. Fabulous hotel for the price will recommend to friends and will definitely stay here again. Thanks again to Francis for the exceptional service!.

Stayed for 2 nights with a friend In a ground floor twin room. Decor was dated room fairly decent size, shower room small but adequate. Was fairly noisy due to location of room near to front door and stairs so we could hear guests coming in later if they were noisy but also checking out early so didn’t have the best night sleep. Staff member on reception was very nice and welcoming, the night porter also did a good job of sorting out some rowdy guests at about 230am he dealt with them calmly and we felt safe nearby listening In. If you want a clean budget stay in Brighton I would recommend this hotel don’t expect the ritz but the location is great and we did manage to get parked outside in the parking bays and paid via the app.

I stayed a week, for the age of the property its not to bad, a little over priced.
The Strawberry Theme is a little faded, its more like raspberry now. I think the theme should be ditched.
The building has a character of a period property, sloping window sills and floors.
The Bed is level due to 3" blocks of wood being placed on the left legs. The mattress and bedding was clean and comfortable, The shower has a cracked base, the shower worked well.
The wash basin door needs replacing.
The decoration of walls in room was clean. My room had a red Rose Picture not a Strawberry, thankfully.
The carpets are old and worn especially in the communal areas.
The staff are friendly and polite.
The TV did not work. even after I asked for it to be fixed. The batteries were replaced in remote, the TV could not find any free view stations a signal issue.
The WiFi most of the time is good, more than one connection including 5G, so I was able to catch up via i player.
The is a serious issue with noise from street drinkers in the now run down park outside. The noise from their shouting made it difficult to get to sleep and woke me up every night. They also use the neglected flower beds for their toilet. It appears to be a issue for guests at other nearby establishments, on couple of evenings a resident started throwing things out the window, to try and disperse the noisy drinkers, this only made matters worse as the drinkers started shouting abuse and threats towards the resident. I would not stay here again not for any fault of the hotel. The activities outside were not good.

2 nights stay . no maid service, no bed made up, no clean cups or glasses left after used, no replenished tea coffee or milk, no bins emptied, no loo roll had to ask at reception. Bed must of been 10yrs ++ old very uncomfortable mattress dipped in the middle springs creaked on any movement. Bathroom so small you can sit on loo with feet in the while washing you hands in the sink.
On a good note the location was great and the shower was powerful 🙂

Hello, We are so sorry you were disappointed by your stay. We normally have maid service daily but due to the Coronavirus situation we could not maintain that for health and safety reasons. We will definitely check on the mattress so we can make necessary improvements!

Booked a last minute trip to Brighton and decided after several searches to book the Strawberry Fields and I’m glad I did.

Location is ideal for the sea front and Central Pier, and for what Brighton has to offer. It is about a 20 minutes walk from the station and a short walk from several restaurants and bars in Kemptown.

On arrival we rang the door bell and were quickly checked in and given the key to our room.

I booked a twin room and was given room 13 which was up a few flights of stairs. Room was bright and airy and spotlessly clean. amenities in the room included Tea&Coffee and small glasses for water.

Bathroom in this room was clean and functional but old fashioned. the shower and flooring itself looked in need of replacing. However the water pressure was fine and water was hot.

I would definitely recommend and stay here again the next time I visit Brighton.

Great location and a very cute room. Some of the more negative reviews seem to be expecting a lot for the price they’re paying.. This is great value for money and we will be back, thank you!

(Only constructive criticism would be that it’s slightly inconvenient to have a period of time in the evening where no one is present to check you in)

You couldn’t check in until 15:00hrs and when we eventually did, we were in a room on the top floor. The room was stupidly hot and unbearable. I asked on multiple times for a fan but the staff didn’t have any available. Rooms on the top floor usually get warm (heat rises) and thus more should be done to accommodate people staying here.

Staff were friendly and location was incredible! Overall a decent stay.

The room seemed like it had been renovated in the 80’s and kept clean since.
Check in at 4 seemed strange or pay an extra £25.
The room was clean but tired.
Street lights really lit up the room throughout the night through the partially broken shutters.
The double bed was two singles pushed together with a big uncomfortable ridge in the middle.
The shower was warm but the head was semi blocked.
The radiator turned on early evening as the room was freezing.
It wouldn’t turn on in the morning, the room was freezing.
For £85 it was ok but won’t be visiting again. There’s a far superior one just a few doors up.

We stayed here last week for a few days. We booked an attic room - during the heatwave and it was boiling! (Heatwaves don’t happen often!) but we borrowed a couple of fans which helped a lot. The guesthouse was lovely & clean & a perfect location - just a couple of minutes walk from the beach & only 5 -10 minutes from the main town. It’s fairly basic but a great base to explore Brighton & the staff were helpful too. Parking was more difficult but we found a space right outside the guest house & paid using the app. Would stay here again for basic accommodation & affordable price. Thank you!

We in common with most guest houses do not have dedicated parking facilities. There are Pay and Display spaces in the square (chargeable at £10 per 24 hours - between 9am and 8pm) or a car park in High Street which is around 5 minutes walk away (see parkopedia ). There is also Pay and Display on the seafront In Madeira Drive. If you are not planning to use your car much, there is the option of free parking in the Queen's Park area which is around 10 or 15 minutes walk to the north, depending on where you find a space. If you want to try to park in the square or seafront, you can now do so by phone but you need to register. If you want to do so before arriving and save time when you get here, the number is 01273 458458 and the location code for New Steine is 85332.

Dear Gary, we have couple of rooms on the ground floor. What sort of room are you looking for? How many people is it for? We have no dedicated parking at Strawberry fields however you can try the following options. Pay and display bays outside the hotel - currently are £2 an hour and £10 for a 24 hour (1hr - £2/ 2hrs -£4/ 4hrs - £6/ 11hrs £10). There are NCP car parks locally, and the nearest one is in the High Street - around 5 minutes walk away, there is also Pay and Display on the seafront In Madeira Drive. Kind Regards,Anna
