The reviews are accurate guys, read them. Go there with your eyes open. But...saving grace was:- Staff were lovely and helpful. Parking was inc and easy. Very low cost for being so central. Bedroom had plenty of space. (Room 8) Bed was surprisingly comfortable and clean. Towels were fresh, clean and white. Toilet was clean. (I didn't have the urge to clean it) Room was clean, housekeeping has a tough job, as the decor and furnishings are so ropey (that's an understatement!) But they did a fantastic job all things considered.

...however, I have NO sympathy for anyone booking here after reading the reviews! I was reminiscing over past travels and re-read my review! This place clearly has not improved since my partner and I visited years ago! It is more like a down and out hostel than a 'hotel' and I have NO idea how these sharks are still trading! I WISH TripAdvisor would allow zero!

Now let me start by saying we are completely aware that we only paid £40 per night ( for a 2 night stay ) so was not expecting the Ritz by any means, The hotel reception should have given us a clue as to the standard of our room, ( they told us they we’re waiting to ‘refurbish’ 🤔) I’m guessing that’s what they tell everyone We entered our room up a flight of stairs ( carpet had seen better days in the 1980’s) with paint stuck to the edges where the walls have obviously had a lick of paint somewhere in the distant past. Upon reaching our room The door couldn’t fully open as the bed was in the way, immediately to the right was a large TV hung on the wall sticking out into the room 😳 The room was cold ( it’s January ) so my husband put the radiator on, the bathroom however was not heated and was fully tiled floor, walls AND ceiling ( it was frigid like especially if walking on the floor with bare feet ) I must say the bathroom was kept clean but the glass shelf above the sink had rusted around the fittings and looks nasty, there also was a little step up into the bathroom ( trip hazard) and yes we tripped up it most times on entering the room On existing the bathroom the said TV was perfect height to smack my head on which I did several times… ( first time I actually saw stars ) Our view out of the window was overlooking the car park and onto a flat roof which was littered with fag buts ( delightful) The bed ( a small double) had clean bedding on the wafer thin duvet and pillows The mattress was old and sagged in the middle which all added up to a rather uncomfortable nights sleep ( my husband and I are not big people I might add ) Noisy neighbours above and to one side could be heard through the thin walls / ceiling There was also a dubious stain on one of the walls ( a sneeze or spit ) that looked like it had been there a long time probably because anyone entering the room can’t see round the door as it hits the bed.. The entrance to our part of the hotel had two doors that lead from the street both never locked which felt a little unsafe as ANYONE could walk in off the street to gain access.. My husband and I are not snobs and don’t expect a pristine boutique hotel but……. Overall it was very outdated tired and grubby And to be honest even at £40 a night it was over priced

When I booked this hotel I was wary of the poor reviews but would give it a go.. I thought for £335 it must be decent as the price was very very high more than the premier inn. But I went ahead with it…. Big mistake… I’m not fussy in the slightest but it was horrendous. Firstly the car park was so tight if you have expensive car don’t park there. The entrance looked like it had been closed for years. The carpets smelt…. Where they had carpets , some places were floor boards. Walking up the stairs I thought they were going to give way, had more creeks than dawsons creek. Then went into the rooms , my god, bed was broken , window cracked, wouldn’t close properly , stains all over the carpets and beds . It looked like we were in the 1980’s Curtain pole was held on by blue tac, literally looked like Stevie wonder was the cleaner , decorator and carpenter… was that bad. Don’t get me started on the blokes roaming the corridors , literally looked like they were homeless or on day release. If you’re a family or a woman… avoid it’s not safe. This is also in a dodgy part of Cheltenham so I wouldn’t go out alone at night near here… All in all an overpriced mess… don’t know how they sleep at night charging those prices. Oh I tell you how they sleep at night, clearly not in this hotel

Do not stay here or in any Rooms booked apartment. We booked through Booking.com which gave the address of the Central hotel as the property address. On arrival we were told we were actually in an apartment in St Pauls street north. The apartment was awful. Stank of damp, rubbish in there from previous occupiers, peeling wallpaper in both bedrooms, door to street constantly left open. Felt grotty and unsafe for a family with young kids. We left after one night having booked 5. Rooms booked promised me a refund for the remaining nights but then as I didn’t have this in writing subsequently refused to give it to me and cut all communication. Management refused to acknowledge complaints. I will never use this company again, shocking service and I can’t believe how much they are charging for horrible accommodation.

Would not stay here again. Felt unclean and sheets definitely did not look clean. I found a pubic hair on my pillow. Awful decoration and the surfaces felt sticky to the touch. Loo seat falling off. I was happy to leave. A shame because location is perfect, staff pleasant and building is fine from the outside. Suggest that £150 a night is far too expensive for the quality of stay.

If I could give this place zero stars i would. Went to the hotel room where the only cleaning that was done was changing of the sheets. Spent the night out and came back late. Went to shower the next morning and there was faeces dripping off the showerhead. Could not help us with another room until 2:00pm (this convo happened at 8am), by that time we had found somewhere else to stay as we did not feel like it was COVID safe or hygienic in any way. Did not return to the hotel. No refund offered at all and I have photo's of the showerhead. Booking.com offered £50 voucher for a just under £400 stay as everything was booked last minute. This place is run by scammers who run hovels that they scandalously ask people to pay money for. All requests for a refund were ignored and they don't even acknowledge that you complained. DO NOT STAY HERE. Would be more hygienic staying at a hostel or even sleeping on the streets. Roomsbooked should be reported to environmental health.

I booked a room last minute on arrival due to alternative accommodation falling through. Got charged £200 for a double room for one night and was told that this was because it was the last room available (this was clearly untrue). Facilities were certainly not worth £200 and I ended up only staying a few hours! Absolutely disgraceful and upsetting to have been treated this way !

I sincerely wish I had looked at some reviews of this place. It's a very ramshackle place and in a state of disrepair. The ceiling had brown stains from persistent leaking, and on top of my en-suite (which had very obviously been built in the already existing room) had a bucket on top to catch the leak. Very little attempt to hide this. Also my nose was accosted with the smell of cigarettes, the plug sockets were worryingly loose, things had been left by a previous visitor, and many of the furnishings were scuffed and chipped. Waking up was a delight because it meant I could leave this dump.
