A stunning property in the market town of Cirencester situated moments from the bustling market square and close to the stunning Cotswold landscape. Guest rooms are cosy, stylish and filled with all the comforts of home with 17th-century characterful quirks and 21st-century luxury. Tuck into fabulous food, hearty and home-cooked, in the restaurant and enjoy an award-winning ale or hot drink in the comfy bar with its floor to ceiling doors, the hidden courtyard or by an open fire. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection.
Lovely hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. Food was excellent. We are lunch in the bar/lounge area. I had the fish and chips which were really good. The lounge and bar have a lovely buzz about it you can tell it's very popular with locals. As the hotel is quite old yes there are creaky floorboards and the bathroom isn't deluxe but there is nice towels and gorgeous white company products for your use. Plenty of tea & coffee and bottles of water in your room. Breakfast was very good. Lot's of choice and good quality produce. Had dinner in the restaurant one evening and the service and food were great. Cocktails were excellent. The best thing about this lovely quirky hotel is the staff. They are so helpful and friendly and make conversation when ever they see guests whether coming or going. We look forward to visiting again soon. There is a small carpark at the rear for about eight cars on a first come basis.…

We booked a dinner for 32 at the Fleece just before Christmas - and booked 2 private rooms adjacent to each other - 1 for 8 oldies and 1 for 24 uni-age students. We arranged the three course menu beforehand (via Tempany, who looked after us brilliantly) - choosing the tomato ravioli, hake on celeriac with samphire (really good) and treacle tart. The food was delicious, and portions sensibly sized. We were really well looked after by Tempany's colleagues, who were attentive but unobstrusive. We will be booking again for December 2024...

We stayed here over Christmas and had a fantastic time. The hotel is full of character, wooden beams and stone floors with stairways and rooms going off in all directions. The best bit is the staff who are efficient & professional yet relaxed & friendly.

Just returned from a 2 night Christmas stay. Had a really good time and the staff were all exceptional - all very friendly, accommodating and professional. We arrived early and managed to get one of the few parking spaces at the back of the hotel which was great. The hotel was decorated beautifully for the festive season with so many choices of places to sit, relax, eat and drink.Really lovely atmosphere. Our room was ok (room 2) - good size, well decorated, comfy bed and well equipped. The only negative was that it was a bit dark with no outlook and we were hoping for some nice comfy chairs to be able to sit and watch Christmas tv after the festivities and over indulging ! Maybe our expectations were too high - there were 2 chairs but not the sort to really relax so we had to use the bed instead. The bathroom was adequate, only a shower - no bath. We had 2 breakfasts and Christmas lunch at the hotel - the food was excellent and well presented, plenty of it and very good quality. Thanks to the great staff again for making our stay so memorable. We would definitely stay again but maybe upgrade our room next time.…

Very poor vegetarian menu, I had the mushroom burger which was served on a cheep sesame seed bun, my friend had the pie of the day which he said was very bland. Definitely not worth the money. It is a beautiful hotel, the decor is stunning it is just a shame the menu lets it down.

My husband and myself ate at The Fleece last night. We were completely wowed by the very high standards of service of those looking after us. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return. Well done!!

Six friends and I enjoyed a wonderful festive lunch here. Food, drink, service, value for money were all excellent. The booking and deposit process was easy. All staff were great, and atmosphere Christmassy. Last year we had our Christmas meal at Rick Stein’s in Marlborough. We were frozen, paid twice as much, service was dreadful and the food was dire. Couldn’t fault this place. See you next year!

Went for a drink. Wanted a relaxing drink together but very stressful. Noisy. Staff several times asked us if we wanted more drinks. Wanted to pressure us us and with insincerety , wanted us to vacate our seats so more customers could come and spend more money. We are local, will not come again and will not reccommend. A disgrace to be honest. It was a great place to come a few years ago. You have it all wrong.. definatly lost it.

I am actually writing this while at the table. It is great to visit the place and find it as good, if not better, if it is all possible, re: the ambience, cosy atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff - it made our day! Lovely drinks and bites… We look forward to coming back again!

This hotel has been beautifully decorated but the quality of the service is really inconsistent. The bar staff were fabulous but the girl at the hotel reception was rude and dismissive, rolling her eyes and laughing at another customer’s confusion when she was being really unclear to them on the phone and then taking payment from us without bothering to make eye contact or ask us how our stay had been, she clearly couldn’t have cared less. We waited an hour for our dinner on Friday night and couldn’t eat it because it had congealed and burnt under a hot lamp but then had a brilliant breakfast on Saturday. Peer into any corner and you’ll see grime and dust, sadly. Lovely bedroom but a freezing cold and tired bathroom. We’ll be back for drinks but nothing else.
