AVOID AT ALL COSTS! We unfortunately experienced an awful nights stay at this hotel. Our room was a “superior” room and it was far from it. We were placed above the bar/ terrace where a wedding was taking place. When I complained to the manger, we were told we should have received an email to pre warn us that there may be noise until midnight. Their system supposedly failed, therefore we didn’t receive said email. Be warned the noise does not stop at this time, the bar is open 24/7 and the noise does not stop until the last guest leaves. Even when the last guest departs the noise continues as they stumble back to their rooms and slam the doors. The floorboards are old and creaky and you can hear every foot step. It appears wedding guests have a priority over any other paying guests. Please avoid this hotel if you would like a good nights sleep. Far nicer hotels for the fraction of the price in the surrounding area.…
Very well located nestled in a very old building resulting in very small rooms with nice bathrooms,we stayed in room numbers 18 &19 but rooms were apart with stairs to walk.No lift available, but very nice & lively bar & restaurant.Staff is very polite & always there to help.
We stayed here in the fall of 2020. It was expensive, overpriced and anything but value for money. The food served was distinctly below average but the surroundings were very nice. If I had to adequately describe this hotel, I’d say it was fur coat and no knickers, it lacked substance. The room we had was not cheap but was cheaply decorated, we fronted the high street. The food was jazzed up pub grub. Nothing stood out and the steak I ordered was so fatty, that I left most of it. I wouldn’t stay here again as it has delusions of grandeur. We left feeling very disappointed and minus a couple of hundred pounds for two nights.
A warm and friendly hotel. Thank to the chefs for wonderful food in the brasserie. A very friendly and experienced service from the barman Angus, a lovely young man. All staff including reception, house keeping and restaurant gave us a wonderful service Sharon Martin and Carlos Fernando's Room 49.
We stayed at the Manor House for 2 nights to celebrate an anniversary. Booked direct which saved us money, being advised to book B&B and pay for dinner. Very friendly and polite. Our room was ready early and overlooked the garden. It was comfortable and well prepared. We have very minor comment. There is nowhere to put towels in the bathroom, rails or hooks would be useful. Handwash only no soap for washing your face. We had bought our own as we have had the same thing elsewhere. The stairs had tartan carpet which was a little disorientating. Upper treads could do with metal nosing like the lower ones. The Brasserie was excellent both with food and service. Cannot praise more. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely surroundings. In all a great hotel, handy base for the Cotswolds. Would definitely recommend and stay again.…
Having researched the best dog friendly looking places for dinner, this was at the top of our list. We entered the restaurant and asked if we could sit outside for dinner with our dog, the waiter said yes. After waiting around 10 minutes for someone to take drink order, I decided I would just go to the bar myself (absolutely fine). Ordered my drinks and took them outside, went back in to get a menu for dinner. The waitress was just about to hand me the menus but then another waiter said sorry we’re not serving dinner without a booking, I address this and said that’s fine but why didn’t you just let us know when I asked to sit outside for dinner and before I ordered drinks, he literally just shrugged his shoulders. I spoke to the manager as I had found an online booking slot as they had them for every half an hour for the rest of the evening. I asked if we made a booking can we eat outside. He said no sorry were not serving dinner to non-residents this evening. Whilst this was happening there were maybe around 4 couples that had come in during this time clearly non-residents and got handed menus straight away- no issue. Just a bit strange as first we weren’t told about this, then we were told no bookings for tonight yet there were plenty online, then we were told no bookings for non-residents. They made absolutely no sense after questioning this whole situation and got a bit flustered after realising they had given a few different excuses.…
After two years of planning we had our wedding at the Manor House Hotel on Saturday the 20th August. The day exceeded our expectations. The garden looked beautiful. The staff at the hotel are amazing. So friendly, helpful and they make you feel very special. Harriet the wedding coordinator has been amazing in the run up to our wedding. She is so efficient and helpful. On the day we were looked after by Emma , the deputy general manager. Emma couldn’t do enough for us . Thank you so much. The food was outstanding . The waiters and waitresses were amazing . Lead by Stuart who was fantastic on the day. Everyone has commented that they really enjoyed the food and thought the staff were lovely. We also want to thank Emma and Shay who also were excellent. They were friendly , always remembering our names and asking if they could do anything. They made our wedding day so special. We can’t thank you all enough and can’t wait to return ❤️❤️…
Just had our wedding here and it was amazing, the food, decor, location etc can’t be beaten. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. A big thank you to Emma, Emma, Stewart and Shay who were the staff we saw the most over the weekend who always remembered our names and would say hello if passing. If you are thinking about a venue for a wedding look no further than here, we can’t praise it enough
Loved the town. The hotel has a really cute restaurant with glass roof and walls. The garden behind is amazing. The hotel rooms are quaint and the front desk staff is excellent. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Great service. The main downside is the hotel doesn’t have air-conditioning and it was very hot in early August. Also, the mattresses seem as old as the hotel and are lumpy.
We had a two night stay at the hotel during the hottest week. Our room 25 was the hottest I have ever experienced due to being under the eaves. We were offered an easy access room 1, but next to a wedding reception, although cooler we could not bear the noise. So we went back to room 25 for some peace although still 37C. However at 12.30 that night the wedding party spilled out to the road mixed with some locals and a fight started with a young lady screaming "he's got a knife" and a young man staggering around with blood all over his shirt being chased and kicked by his attacker! I called reception to tell them to call the police who came within minutes to sort out the fracas. Now I feel really sorry for the staff who gave excellent service and tried really hard to resolve the problems. Generally the hotel, food and service was good, but spoiled by the heat in our room and not least the wedding guests. But hotels who cater for weddings should not serve drinks from noon to midnight as it is almost expecting trouble. I did feel sorry for the bride and groom whose special day was spoilt. However I do think it is very difficult to cater for normal guests and wedding parties, as they have different requirements and needs. Finally the hotels ev charger was blocked by a non electrical car and a contractors van and by irony was an electrical contractor. The hotel did give me consideration on my bill in recognition of the disruption we experienced which I appreciated. So my recommendation would be if you stay at the hotel, the staff and service are great, don't stay in room 25 if it is hot and don't stay if there is a wedding.…
