We had the Arabian Nights room which lacked an outside window and felt a bit like a dungeon. The furnishings were a little shabby and the heating failed one night as did the hot water so bath in the morning. Our room was on a separate boiler which once we reported it was corrected unfortunately we were leaving that morning.... More

We recently stayed at Cardynham House as we had received a voucher from my in-laws. It is a lovely place in a picturesque setting. I am unable to give it 5/5 for a few reasons. Firstly, on arrival at 4:45pm, we had to ring the doorbell a few times before anybody came to let us in. This wouldn't be a... More

Stayed here whilst attending Cheltenham races. Delightful room - small patch of damp in corner - but its an old property. Disliked having to order breakfast the evening before - how do you know how hungry you are going to feel in the morning. Staff obliging. Ate in bistro two nights - food good and not overly expensive. Parking can... More

Whatever you're expecting, it won't be quite what you get; this very old building shares the unusual character of Painswick itself, and seems to be an organic collection of ongoing building projects. We stayed in the Arabian Nights suite, which had a fabulous bath and oozed cosy romantic charm. We ate at the bistro where the food and chianti were... More

We stayed here with family using a gift voucher. Whilst I can accept quirkiness and someone needing TLC, I cannot accept somewhere being dirty. Our room was dark, dusty had cobwebs on the windows and beams and the carpets had not been vacuumed. We wrote clean me in the dust of the mirror but the next day the hint still... More

Comfortable room with two chairs and a view over towards the church. Breakfast and dinner in the in-house Bistro was a lovely experience with friendly staff and good quality food. The only drawback was the difficulty in parking near the premises. However, once you get used to the layout of the town you can work out how to park more... More

Have just spent 2 nights here exploring the area; the owner and staff here are wonderful and make up for the sad bits; we arrived approx. 4pm and rang the door bell so many times we worried there might be no one in; our room was tired and the lighting so poor it was not possible to read in the... We went for a weekend break away from the chaos of London and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly and really helpful when it came to advising us on what routes we should take when we mentioned that we were going to explore the Cotswolds Way walk. The place itself is charming; the design and decor dates... More

Lovely period house for a short break, with each room individually themed. Very welcoming hosts, and accompanying bistro serves wonderful food for breakfasts, and evening meals, including specials of game and wild boar.
