Very good light lunch. Though we hadn't booked, they accommodated us at a table for two, maybe because it was early, before the rush. The staff were pleasant and appeared well trained. I had a gin & tonic (there's an extensive gin menu at the bar), and my partner had a pint of Hooky beer. We ordered a couple of...

The Falcon has been one of our 'locals' for 30 years: we live in the village. I took my wife there for a meal last night and we came away a little disappointed. Despite being there early (6:30) and the restaurant being nearly empty, it took an hour for our first course to arrive. My cod loin was delicous (absolutely...

We booked a table at the last minute and were seated promptly at a lovely table albeit near the bar. We both chose the roast dinner mixed as it was Sunday. The plate was full of meat, and the beef for me looked underdone, but it was not it was lovely and tasty and the stuffing was soft in the...

Reviewing the restaurant only, we stopped for lunch after deciding to visit Stroud (yuk- stayed for less than an hour). Lovely setting overlooking the church green on the main route through Painswick. Recommended by the Tourist Information Office in the church precincts. Pleasant interior and pleasant staff. We had not booked but were given a good table by the window....

Excellent meal. The beef was superb, also the gravy which is always a good test. Vegetables, plenty, hot and not overdone. Decor and atmosphere was also to be commended, both couples, groups and families having good food, enjoying themselves. The wine and beer,as well as the staff are excellent . The staff are young, well trained without being pushy, and...

Three of us ate at The Falcon on a Saturday evening, during a one week visit to the Cotswolds. It had been recommended by a local resident, and turned out to be a very good advice. The service could not be faulted: the staff were efficient and cheerful, and we didn't have to wait long for our meal. The a...

My partner and I stayed here for two nights and took our dog with us also! The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in the coach house and had a family room which had lots of space. Our dog milo loved it. We had a little basket at the door to put our muddy boots in when we...

I brought my wife and teenage daughters here for Mother's day and was very impressed. The food was lovely, the trout in particular was cooked to perfection. The staff have a nice friendly approach which makes you feel that you're staying at someone's house rather than a restaurant. I work in the industry at a leading venue and so I'm...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Falcon Inn sits opposite a quintessential English village church with its famous 99 clipped yew trees sitting in its grounds. The Falcon was first opened as a coaching inn in the 16th century and carries out the aims of the coaching inn to this day, the transport to it is just a little bit different. Great food, service and hospitality are provided at value for money prices. Painswick is not to be missed and the Falcon is the place to stay. ... more   less
